Plenty of Bills mentions here as Clayton is curios to see all the changes to this and other teams http://m.espn.go.com/nfl/story?storyId=9503448

I liked the article but I also found a similar praising article on Rochester D&C. Two coming out at same time....makes me think that the BB PR dept has exposed their media mouthpieces. They are trying (and its understandable) to generate a lot of hype prior to training camp to get the fans excited for the upcoming season. That's what they are supposed to as a PR dept tho. But we can get on-board, excited, etc all we want. This to me means nothing. It would mean more if say they started the season 4-0 or at least beating the pats day 1.

Poll: Should the "Redskins" name be changed?

I'm the last person anyone would associate with being TOO pc. But this is what it boils down to: 1. The team name was not used in a negative sense, obviously. Why would a team insult themselves? It's actually used as a sentiment to the toughness of the natives who fought hard against the invaders of their country. 2. The majority who find it offensive are most likely not football fans who would get the point made in number 1 above. 3. That being said, I can see why a Native American would cringe at hearing the name. What if you were a citizen of am African country and a soccer team was named the Crackers and had a cowboy with a rifle on their logo? Maybe they admire Americans icons like John Wayne and Wyatt Earp. If you loved soccer and this didn't bother you, still it would bother other whites who just didn't get it. Not everyone will be happy and while it doesn't offend me, I can respect that it offends others. So, in keeping with the Constitution of the US, we have freedom of speech and the owner of a football team should be able to call his team whatever the hell he wants to. But I understand the sensitivity of the other side. -
I've always found it funny when someone on this board doesn't like a topic (thinks it didn't need to be posted, or has a problem with it going multiple pages) how they reply to it and do exactly what they seem to be criticizing. If you don't like that the post was started, simply don't reply and it will take care if itself. But go ahead and keep bumping it up and agitating yourself

Fred Jackson should be kept as long as financially possible. Imagine if they kept him fresh, and IF the offense is succesful playing fast and keeping defenses huffing and puffing, and if they have the lead in games, he would be a perfect back to pound tired defenders in the 4th quarter....without sacrificing too much speed

Official John Murphy Show Thread

I called my Internet provider, Century Link...I called them to see about bundling with Verizon. The customer service rep spoke like this: "cenchewy wink does offer 5 dowwers off your mumfwee bill when you bundle with your vah-wizen." This is a customer service wep. So, he was a hewwuvuh salesman...I took the 5 bucks and he still has his job. I think kiko will be just fine diwecting the west of the defensive pwayers on the field -
This guy from the bleacher report called it back in September...EJ first qb to be selected. To me, the mocks and projections during the actual season strike gold more than the over-thought, media-poisoned ones in March and April. Link not accepted, so I am pasting the content here: Just shy of a month into the college football season, and less than a quarter of the way into the NFL grind, and it it is already time to start talking about the 2013 draft. The NFL Draft has become the highlight of at least half of the league's fan bases (those who miss the playoffs) due to constant coverage on it from the NFL Network, ESPN and a myriad of other media outlets. College fans also follow the draft with religious devotion, anxiously anticipating where the players they have watched grow up through their favorite program may or may not be drafted. This year will be no different. As we have seen in recent years, the quarterback is the ultimate prize for teams in April. Since Peyton Manning was drafted No. 1 overall in 1998, only three non-quarterbacks have been the first name off of the board. This year, like in years past, many teams have issues with the most important position on the field. These teams will do whatever they can to get who they think is the best available signal caller. That man may just be the leader of the Florida State Seminoles, E.J. Manuel. It may seem crazy that player who has peen plagued by both injuries and inconsistency would even be considered for such a franchise-altering selection. However, when you look a little closer, this prediction becomes glaringly obvious. During the Seminoles 49-37 victory, Manuel showed off his talent through the air and on the ground, racking up 380 yards passing and another 100-plus on the ground. If the last two drafts have proven anything, it is that the dual-threat college quarterback is becoming more of a presence in the NFL. The Washington Redskins gave up a cornucopia of draft picks last year to move up two selections to ensure the chance to get Baylor's Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III at No. 2 overall. The prior year the Carolina Panthers got a Heisman winner of their own as they selected Auburn quarterback Cam Newton. Like those two men, Manuel came into his final college season as a dark horse for both the Heisman and the chance to be a high draft pick. Both men began to progress and take advantage of the big stage as the season progressed. Manuel has done just that so far and has shown the same kind of skills that the Panthers and Redskins coveted. Should Manuel continue to impress and win a Heisman, the 6'5", 240-pound fifth-year senior will undoubtedly skyrocket up draft boards. While Manuel looks to move up, his competition seems to be moving down. Matt Barkley looked pedestrian at best in USC's loss to Stanford, losing to the same defense that Washington's Keith Price was able to beat. The pressure Barkley put on himself coming into this year seems to be taking him over. For a guy who throws to maybe the two best receivers in America in Marquise Lee and Robert Woods, he should be doing more. Tyler Wilson has been hurt and has shown that he lacks maturity and leadership, calling out his team in the media for getting smacked around by Alabama while he watched from the sidelines. He returned the following week and threw two interceptions in Arkansas' lose to Rutgers. Tyler Bray of Tennessee is still only a Junior and looked average against Florida. There are several question marks surrounding his legitimacy as a prospect, including his footwork, which seems very slow. Working almost exclusively out of the shotgun, Bray may have trouble adjusting to NFL offenses. Geno Smith, like Bray, works primarily out of the shotgun in West Virginia's high-powered offense. Although he puts up video game numbers week after week, Smith lacks the accuracy needed for the pro game and forces throws at times, bringing his decision making into question. Should he continue to progress, all signs point to Manuel taking over as the consensus No. 1 quarterback prospect. Other than some quarterback-needy teams getting off to hot starts, the only thing which may prevent Manuel from being taken No. 1 overall may be himself.

Poll: Grade Draft, EJ Manuel Question
Uncle Monkeyhead replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting piece....funny how these guys changed their minds a little the closer they got to, during, and after the draft. The praise was there earlier for EJM. Sundquist says he feels like he's been watching a different tape than everyone else....I'm willing to bet the others are pretty much basing their opinions off the mainstream at any given point in time. http://youtu.be/32uWlrEOzYs -

Dual Topic: Media Attention & Marv Levy
Uncle Monkeyhead replied to Uncle Monkeyhead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The media attention will reach a new level if we beat the Bengals Sunday. Because I truly believe the Bills will...and I believe even more, that the Pats* and Jets will lose this week as well. We should be up 2 games on both of them by Sunday evening. This is a huge opportunity for the Bills. -
When to re-sign Fitz, Stevie, Freddie?
Uncle Monkeyhead replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm curious if your reasoning is because of his age. If it is, I humbly disagree. Age does not play a factor in his case because he has not taken a pounding like most 30 yr old backs. He's still not taking a huge pounding; yes he runs aggressively, but his production is not from the amt of attempts; it's coming in chunks. what's his YPC avg this year? 6.2 or something like that? -
When to re-sign Fitz, Stevie, Freddie?
Uncle Monkeyhead replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed! I am not basing their worth because of these 3 games, but including them with last years production....and in Freddy's case, the last 3 years.....remember when he lead the team in rushing and return yards? Also, Wiz.....love that avatar.....You should get some shirts made with that graphic. I'd buy one! -
Dual Topic: Media Attention & Marv Levy
Uncle Monkeyhead posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Media Attention: I liked it for about two days, now I'm almost sickened by it. First off, I really hate that the national mainstream media says things like "Nobody was giving Buffalo a chance" and had them ranked dead last in the division before the season started. The "nobody" was them. Why don't they say "we" as in the so-called experts? Now I'm seeing things like "Ryan Fitzpatrick is a big reason they are 3-0". Well, duh....but 3 weeks ago they were still calling him a journeyman and "not a franchise QB". Now it's "Buffalo better rework that deal and tie him up". It's been 3 games....they crack me up. We, as in Bills fans, knew there was something special about Fitz last year.....well, a great majority of us. I don't know any Bills fan personally that wanted to draft a QB in April. There were some here on TSW, but not a majority. Fitz was one of the first QB's to hold off-season workouts with his recievers and Freddy, yet there was not a mention of it from the mainstream media. The recognition went to other QB's in bigger markets (can't remember who exactly any more). Then I just read the "5 Questions with Fred Jackson". I'm glad to be able to read it, don't get me wrong, and Fred definitely deserves it, but he deserved it last year, and the year before. We all knew what he meant to this team. The odds that this guy faced is similar to that of Kurt Warner before his star shined like a beacon for the media to flock to. Ah Freddy....I'm glad to say I held you as the heart and soul of this offense for the last 3 years. Which leads me to the next topic..... Marv Levy: I read a lot of negative stuff on this board about Marv's GM moves that set this team back. Well, I for one never trashed Marv. I think it was great to have him in the FO.....mainly because he brought us F-Jack. Marv saw something and kept his word to this guy and look at what it has done for this team. One of Marv's best qualities paid off huge for the Bills. I mean, he kept in contact with Fred monthly while he was on the outside looking in at the NFL. Kudos to Marv. I am just wondering if anyone still feels his GM days hurt this franchise. Any thoughts/feedback? Go Bills! -
Great Easterbrook column today
Uncle Monkeyhead replied to nodnarb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My favorite part of this TMQ article: "All-Unwanted Update: Last week TMQ, who touts "all-unwanted" players who went undrafted or have been waived, noted the profusion of castoff players on the Buffalo offense, currently the NFL's highest-scoring. In this week's Bills game, big defensive plays were made by George Wilson -- undrafted, he worked in the offseason as an actor in music videos -- and Drayton Florence, who was told to hit the road in Jacksonville. As Florence was running for a pick-six, Tom Brady had the last shot at him and obviously pulled up, perhaps afraid to muss his hair." -
Sorry, but what an a-hole reply. The guy gave a heads up. I for one and i'm sure most on the board, appreciate WWV's post. As for the interview, the joke Fitz made about the beard and Tony's head was great! Got a genuine laugh out of it. They also asked him a great question I thought.....about being taken seriously because he is a Harvard grad. I mean, think about it....we have this great gutsy QB who could probably be living a very good life financially, but stuck around as a backup and potential journeyman with the possibility of getting seriously hurt.....stuck around because he knew he was better than anyone else thought. Fitz is a great story

Dave thanks for posting this....it was the video I was most looking forward to after the game. I LOVE IT AND CAN WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN......Mr Genius, all red faced, looking like a smacked ass. "I went sown to call a time out....what don't you understand about that?" So nice that we are on this side of it for a change. -
people need to stop taking what other people say so seriously. Jesus F***ing Christ.
