Anyone with NFL sunday ticket, can you answer this:
ny33 replied to ThurmasThoman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sunday Ticket doesn't work internationally, something I learned only after signing up. I'd even specifically asked DirectTV if I'd have any issues using it abroad; they said I would be fine. Add that to incredibly slow loading times, which are out of sync with my usually-fast download and upload speeds; Sunday Ticket isn't worth it if you're buying it for the online features. -
DeSean Jackson isn't the type of guy to sign with a team in a blue-collar market. He'll probably stay in Philly, but I can see him going back to the West Coast (Raiders/49ers/Chargers) or somewhere like Miami for the big bucks.

We'd "excel at shopping at the bargain bin" if the scrap-heap players we picked up were productive. They aren't.

Do the bills have the best O-line in the NFL?
ny33 replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have a top-ten o-line in regards to pass blocking, combined with a Q.B. with a top-five release time. Unfortunately, as we saw last week, we have bottom-ten run blocking. My opinion: we're middle of the pack overall. I can't find it now, but there was a great article somewhere detailing how Fitz has to get rid of the ball quickly compared to most QBs, or he'd be taking more hits. -
Friendly reminder: there is a game this week…

Thanks for a very good post. We struggle- heavily, I might add- against quality defensive teams, and tend to stand a chance in shootouts. Chris Johnson may or may not be getting his game back together; he rushed for 190 yards last week, and if he plays well, I don't expect good things. Let's see how the rookies come out to play, as our games the rest of this season will depend on their (understandably) unpredictable play. I expect the Bills to lose, probably 20-14. That being said, I care as much about a win at this stage of the season as I do seeing players like C.J., Carrington, Moats, and the rookies have productive games the rest of the season. -
League will study Johnson's escape from Revis Island
ny33 replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be honest, if I were Stevie, and offered, say, relatively equal contracts by the Bills, Raiders, Chiefs, Buccaneers and Bengals, I'd sign with the Bengals or Raiders, depending on how those teams fare in the playoffs. There will be plenty of money in free agency this year, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ralph doesn't pay up. In addition, there's the fact that Buffalo has been one of the worst 2-3 teams in football over the past 10 years. It would suck, but don't be surprised to see Stevie leave in free agency to one of the above teams with their cap room. -
It would be funny if it were accurate. That's like making a joke about, say, the French in regards to a German individual. Here's the thing about jokes: they have to a) be funny and b) be plausible.

So, then, racist attempts at humor are accepted at TBD? For the record, Khan is from Pakistan, a country with a very low camel population.
-
Is that supposed to be humorous? Grow up, man.

I don't think that's the case anymore with all the changes favoring QBs' protection and WRs from being touched. Look at the Patriots, Saints, and Cowboys, all of whom have terrible defenses and quality offenses. Even the Packers have a mediocre defense that has a few top-5 players that make key stops or cause turnovers. Jacksonville and Cleveland have top-10 defenses and are bottom-10 teams this year.

What matters to me is that two of our picks this draft, other than Dareus, become above-average starters. Here's to hoping Williams, Sheppard, or Searcy can develop into quality players.

Jets-Broncos live Game Thread
ny33 replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The difference is that Rex knows everything about our team, and Denver has a significantly better defense than we do. The NFL is about matchups, and we don't matchup well against the Jets. -
To my understanding, Nix would have drafted Gabbert if Newton and Dareus were off the board. Please correct me if I am incorrect, but I recall a story leaking the Bills' draft board, and Miller was not in the top 3.

If Huntsman or Romney doesn't get the nomination, I'd vote for Obama.

I'd be content with 8 wins and happy with 9, given our four winnable games coming up. I'm getting more concerned by the day, however, about our failure to re-sign our top impending free agents. If Buffalo lets Johnson or Bell walk, I'll be furious. We need to keep our top players, draft well, and sign one or two quality free agents with all the holes and cap room we have to be a legitimate playoff contender, let alone the deep rounds of the playoffs.

Vincent Jackson has ego problems and probably wouldn't want to play in Buffalo. I see him going to a team like New England, Baltimore, San Francisco, or staying in San Diego (I'm pretty sure he's only unhappy for financial reasons). That being said, we definitely should address WR in the offseason, and preferably through free agency rather than the draft. We've got a shot at a number of decent linebackers and cornerbacks, both positions with a greater success rate than first-round wide receivers. That being said, NFL teams have done remarkably well at drafting first-round wideouts, and players in general, over the past three years. I'd like to resign Stevie and go after Dwayne Bowe and John Carlson, the latter of whom is a TE that fits the Bills' style (more of a blocker than a receiver, but with decent hands and speed). Demetrius Bell is seriously underrated, in my opinion, and I won't be happy if he leaves the team after this year. We've proven that we lack depth, and I think Pears would be an ideal backup on the right side. On the other side of the ball, I'd love to pick up someone like Anthony Spencer or Curtis Lofton; Spencer would be a great replacement for Merriman, and I think Lofton can play inside a 3-4 defense. There are also a number of top-notch corners available next year, like Brent Grimes, Cortland Finnegan, and Brandon Carr. No matter whom the Bills draft this coming year, I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't resign our top free agents, Fred, and one or two of the above players with all the cap room we have. If we were to draft, say, Courtney Upshaw, keep Jackson + Bell, and sign Dwayne Bowe, we'd be in great shape next year.

The Jets are one of the most talented teams in the league but, like the Eagles, they suffer from disciplinary issues and a lack of chemistry. If Tom Coughlin were coaching that team- with Rex as d-coordinator- they'd be pretty damn good.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with players spending their free time on activities like this. By the way, when I googled Bryan Scott to see if any major news outlets had reported this, I found quite a few articles mentioning that Scott roomed with Jerry Sandusky's son at Penn State. I'm not sure if anyone on the board had mentioned this earlier, but that's pretty crazy, and it's tough to imagine what Sandusky's son is going through.

I agree that we should use Spiller more often, but New Orleans has a superior passing attack in every single aspect: four quality receivers; one of the best tight ends in the league; an injury-free, quality offensive line; and a truly elite quarterback. Spiller and Jackson should get more carries, and I'd be a fan of using an I-formation more often. We should be running the ball 30 times a game.

ESPN Reveals New Logos including Bils
ny33 replied to BuffaloWest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't recognize Cleveland's logo; does anyone have any idea as to when they changed it? Also, the Saints, to my knowledge, haven't had too many injuries. Is their rebranded logo supposed to be on crutches? Edit: I just remembered Sean Payton's injury, so that explains the Saints' logo. -
It's outrageous that Levitre doesn't have one of the top spots at tackle. What hurts the most this season is Wood's injury; the guy deserved a Pro Bowl spot, and I'm not sure how well he'll recover from a second traumatic injury. Let's hope that Wood comes back better than ever early next year.

I'm assuming you meant "dominant"? There isn't a dominant AFC team at the moment. We're not in the group of real contenders, either. The fact of the NFL is that teams expose themselves in the second half of the season. As many have pointed out, Buffalo's success was built on a combination of great play from Fred Jackson, Fitzpatrick's quick release and great vision, and significant luck with defensive turnovers. Fred is continuing to play at an incredibly high level, and Fitzpatrick still shows elite vision and recognition behind center. However, teams have quickly figure out how easy it is to stop our pass game by jamming receivers and forcing Fitzpatrick to hold the ball, as Charlie Casserly and others have (correctly) stated. We're slightly better than the 2008-2009 team, but Buffalo still has a long way to go before it is a real playoff contender.

Wilson named one of cheapest owners in NFL history
ny33 replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can't really consider the Bleacher Report to be real journalism. Any opinions on that site are just that- opinions- without the experience or sources of real journalists. I wouldn't take any of those statements at face value, and most writers on the site have no idea what they're talking about, as evidenced by the above statement. As you said, the exact opposite is true.
