Ray Rice, Spiller, and AP are the three most dangerous backs in football, yet Spiller has 80 fewer carries than Rice and 120 fewer than AP. Ravens fans, by the way, were furious with Cam Cameron for underusing Rice. Imagine if they used him as little as we do Spiller.

Great point. I also think Shaw is the one guy from the college ranks bringing in, though teams should consider Chip Kelly. Brian Kelly reminds me of Spurrier and Petrino, a guy who bounces around and won't stick around a losing situation. He'd be a terrible fit for this organization. If we can get Shaw or Arians, I'd be very happy.

http://wp.advancednflstats.com/playerstats.php?pos=RB By these measures, Fred is one of the worst seven backs in the league this year, out of 55 who have played enough downs to be eligible. CJ is the second-best, sandwiched between Ray Rice and Peterson. When your top back (Spiller) is having such an incredible season, you would think the change-of-pace back would also put up good numbers in limited time (as is usually the case: see Kendall Hunter, Mark Ingram, Daniel Thomas, etc.). Sorry, Fred has been awful this year, and will only get worse. He's done. It's time to cut him and draft a RB in the middle rounds of of the draft.

Illegal Block in the back on the Pick 6 - ??????????????????
ny33 replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think emotion is important in a head coach. Players want to feel supported by their head coach. No, I don't think there is some conspiracy, or that the more aggressive head coaches get more calls. But this isn't the NBA, where coaches get technical fouls for stepping on the court or yelling at a ref. That being said, I do think refs are, perhaps subconsciously, less likely to flag teams that rip on them for bad calls. It's just human. -

Yes. Belichick does that. The Harbaughs do that. Mike Smith does that. I could go on. The point is that officials, to some extent, aren't afraid of throwing questionable flags against timid coaches. Perhaps guys like Gailey don't report officiating crews to the League office for review. On top of that, Gailey's timidity reflects poorly on him to the players; if your coach doesn't feel strongly about a b.s. call, why should you? -

Any decent NFL coach would be screaming for minutes in the face of the ref who threw that flag. Gailey, of course, didn't. -
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8731888/nfl-handicapping-crowded-nfc-wild-card-race Fred was the worst RB in football this week. As I and others have said all season, he's done, unfortunately. We need to draft a RB in the 3rd, 4th, or 5th this year.

No, this "lose" doesn't put the Jets in the last playoff spot.
-
No. I did read the post; I'm not sure how it's apparent that I didn't. I wouldn't bring in Chris Polian, period. He's shown that he is incapable of being an NFL executive.
-
I'm not going to comment on the rest of your post, but I'll say this: the first bolded section is idiotic. Chris Polian is one of the worst GMs in NFL history. As for the latter bolded section of your post, I'm sure that hiring a CFL coach will suddenly draw in tons of Canadian fans. *cough*.

Chan NOT the man for the job going forward.

Q: Why did you not take the delay of game then instead of wasting the time out? A: Well I was trying to get that to them to take the delay of game and Scott Chandler saw me tell them to take the delay of game, but I did not know he got that word. So I was scared they were going to snap it. That is why I called the timeout. Unbelievable. -
No one is going to trade for Fitz. Also, I believe most of his guaranteed money has been paid already ($15m), so we can cut him fairly easily, if we decide to, this offseason.
-
Good point. Cousins is signed to 4 years for $2.5 million; Kyle Orton, probably the best backup in the NFL, is getting $10.5 million over three years. Plus, Washington had the salary cap penalty imposed on them.
-
You're right that they wouldn't take a fourth rounder for Cousins, given where they took him and RG3's dangerous playing style. That being said, with their lack of draft picks, I can see them taking an early third rounder.
-
As others have noted, the deadline has passed. That being said, I'd be far more comfortable trading a 3rd or 4th for Cousins than taking any of the QBs in the draft with our first or second rounder, unless our scouts really feel confident in someone.
-
Barron has been about as good as Gilmore this season (read: average). I wonder what our CBs would look like had we drafted Barron; McKelvin and Williams as starters?
-
I'm confused as how that's affected his ability to catch. He's always been a below-average coverage safety, but had good hands. Now, that's completely disappeared; I'm shocked that a former WR drops two catchable balls.

I said this a few times in the Shoutbox, but this defines an indefensible play call: we line up for a 52-yard FG, then decide to punt instead because of the wind. Instead of taking a delay of game and punting- which would have barely affected the punting distance- we TAKE A TIMEOUT. That is completely inexcusable. -
Are you talking about Staubach?

Bills O-Line Getting Respect...
ny33 replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jake Long is going to be paid a lot of money by someone to be a LT. Don't be ridiculous; there is zero chance we sign him as a RT. -

Good one. -
The spread is -3, Buffalo, with an over/under of 42. I think we cover given the Rams' weakness against AFC teams/ones they aren't familiar with; we should be able to run on them, and I think the defense has improved enough to shut down big plays (I imagine they will have several scoring drives, but limited mainly to FGs). It's a toss-up, really, but I'm more confident in our defensive momentum than in St. Louis' recent win streak. That being said, this is probably a game that Fitz could lose if we're playing catch-up late in the fourth.

Buffalo 17, St. Louis 13.

Uhh, you're thinking of Chris Long, who has turned into a top defensive end over the last two years.
