  1. No one is arguing that the NCAA, or the universities, should pay them. However, they should be free to be paid by outside entities- boosters, for example- or sell their jerseys, signed memorabilia, etc.
  2. You did raise the question of what Jim Kelly would be considered if he quit football to become a neuro-sturgeon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturgeon I don't think Mr. Kelly would have succeeded.
  3. I'm pretty sure that the 49ers, and a few other teams, are very interested in Datone Jones in the mid-to-late first round. If he is still on the board as late as the Texans' pick, I can see the 49ers trading 31 and 34 for 27 and 89. In that scenario, I would see SF taking Jones; Houston would take a QB at 31 and a WR at 34.
  4. You're the one convinced that a cold-water fish, traditionally smoked or harvested for its eggs, can become a neurosurgeon.
  5. I think that, if Tennessee were to draft a guard, it would be Cooper. He fits the Levitre profile of being an athletic, but not overwhelmingly powerful, player with great finesse, while Warmack has mediocre footwork and great strength/leverage. Given that they run CJ to the outside, mostly, I see Cooper as a better fit.
  6. I apologize; I meant to say that Atlanta, not Arizona, likely sees its biggest need at defensive end. Even if Milliner is in good health, I just don't see the Falcons- or any other team- trading that many picks for a cornerback. If they want a CB, I would imagine they take someone like Desmond Trufant, Xaxier Rhodes, or D.J. Hayden at 30; they may also decide to take a shot at guys like Tank Carradine or Damontre Moore at that slot.
  7. Fluker certainly doesn't use "proper grammar," but I do agree that the "hacked" tweet is markedly different from his usual tweets' style: "thanks I apreciate it. I thought recognize you as I was walking out" "haha I'm your worst night mare lol."
  8. I do have to say that I highly doubt the Falcons will trade up to seven for Milliner. For one, he's had numerous injuries, and reportedly is dropping down many draft boards. As Atlanta has the 30th overall pick, it would cost a great deal to trade up to the seventh pick- likely this year and next year's first, plus a second; I don't see them doing that for a CB. Finally, Atlanta has a serious need at defensive end, a position which is likely to have fewer available talents at the 30th pick than CB will.

  10. The bolded is a ludicrous statement.
  11. His grades weren't good enough for a medical degree.
  12. What precludes a sturgeon from becoming a neurosurgeon?
  13. Would a "neuro-sturgeon" make good caviar?
  14. This trade shows blatant homer-ism and invalidates the draft. Minnesota isn't trading those picks for an OG and a third-rounder. Wow. The Minnesota "GM" should be ashamed.
  15. Minnesota would never make that trade for a guard.
  16. No one is trading up to the 8th pick to draft Patterson. Carolina, without a third rounder, isn't trading two picks for Lotulelei. Minnesota isn't trading two firsts for an unproven CB. Your "scenarios" are absurd.
  17. Where are you seeing, or hearing of, this "rumor"?
  18. This is ironic.
  19. Manti Te'o, Cordarelle Patterson, Sam Montgomery
  20. I was referring to bonuses and the cap.
  21. Do you know anything about how football contracts work? Trading Mario Williams is completely unrealistic.
  22. Our recent history may misguide me, but I have a great deal of faith in our defense from a personnel and coaching perspective. However, I believe our offensive overachieved; I hope that the scouting team can identify a long-term Q.B. and validate fans' belief that our o-line is good enough to not use a high pick along the line.
  23. Hah; we'll see. If they draft certain positions: i.e., safety, C.B., OG, we'll have a good sense of what the staff thinks of the roster. I look forward to the draft.
  24. We have, honestly, quite a quandary when it comes to how we will fit our scheme to Pettine's defense, assuming that he uses a similar scheme to what he designed for the Jets. This draft will be very telling. I can't want for the season, if only for the excitement of our defensive schemes compared to the vanilla formations and playcalls of 2012-2013.
  25. To be fair, the "experts" are generally aware that their work is largely for entertainment value and not scouting accuracy.
