  1. We did a good job meeting Amendola and Edelman in pursuit, but could not stop the running backs at all when they had space.
  2. In my opinion, Russ Brandon is the fundamental problem with this organization. The move shifting him to new "owner" of the Bills was far from a fresh start. I suspect that he has been doing a lot of Ralph's work for years, and "Ralph is cheap" has really been "Russ is cheap." The man is a marketer, not, I think, a guy whose primary goal is winning Super Bowls. It's too early to say that Marrone is a bad coach- give us a few more games this season where discipline and clock management lose us the game- but I think fans should be extremely concerned about the fact that our head coach was likely signed because of his shared connection to Syracuse with Brandon. The loss today was inexcusable. The mistakes weren't on a rookie quarterback, or a rookie running back fumbling (a la David Wilson of the Giants). They were thanks to an insane number of penalties and ludicrous clock management. Right now, I think Marrone and Hackett are out of their element. I think they will learn, but the type of game we had was horrible. We would have been destroyed if the Pats had Gronk and/or Hernandez. Fire Brandon.
  3. My concern is that our defense was very slow, and poor, in pursuit today. We had great play from the secondary most of the game, ok pressure at times, but often failed to get to the ballcarrier in the open field. Cam Newton and the Panthers' running game could destroy us if we don't zip to the ball-carriers.
  4. By "breakout," I am referring to the fact that our mid-to-late round picks tend to be abject failures. We don't hit on 4th-7th round draft picks, usually, at a worse rate than most other teams. We're pretty good in the first and second rounds, and get starters there, but we need to draft better later on. Many teams have several starting offensive and defensive linemen from that draft range. We have Kyle Williams as a solid starter from there, and that's it.
  5. Jackson isn't that good at this stage in his career. He's a solid backup. Dareus, though an underachiever, has been a very good defensive tackle. Urbik is a solid right guard.
  6. The issue is not that we "dumpster dive," but the fact that many of our breakout players come from such a source, and not our draft picks. In aggregate, our talent level would be far higher with better drafting combined with our solid knowledge of the waiver/UDFA wires.
  7. It's unclear if he's been signed to the practice squad or active roster.
  8. 45? No. 47, probably. It's possible that three players currently on the active roster will be cut and replaced with waiver claims or released players; we have the cap space and need for quality backups. We will certainly sign a CB (maybe two) and versatile offensive lineman (maybe two) We will also sign a linebacker, and possibly replace Dowtin or Westerman with someone's expensive veteran backup.
  9. Minnifield is not an NFL-caliber corner back or nickel back. People mention him frequently because he made noise in college, was a "steal" of an UDFA, but then did absolutely nothing with the Redskins. Like Da'Rick Rogers, fans hype him up because he was a notable college player who went undrafted. I'd add him to the practice squad, but he would do nothing for our active roster.
  10. I've had the same problem for a few months, which I posted about in the customer service forum. I've had to switch to Chrome when I post here. It's annoying, but it's unclear what the source of the problem is.
  11. http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2012/8/30/3280178/new-nfl-rules-ir-injured-reserve-trade-deadline-david-decastro-desmond-bishop-steelers-packers
  12. Ja'Marcus Webb was terrible on the Bears. Watch one of his games, or ask one of their fans. They despise him like we do Maybin.
  13. White, I believe, would have to be claimed off of waivers.
  14. Schefter said the exact opposite.
  15. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000236919/article/antoine-winfield-reportedly-cut-by-seattle-seahawks I'll take Pete Carroll's word.
  16. Nope. http://espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp13/story/_/id/9589292/nfl-grants-buffalo-bills-roster-exemption-jairus-byrd
  17. That's not true. Byrd's roster exemption expired.
  18. Carder is a Brown, not a Bengal. Tarvaris Jackson is on the Seahawks. Jabari Greer, of course, is a Saint. Lindell is a Buccaneer.
  19. RB should be P2. Fred Jackson will be done after this year as a #2 running back.
  20. What? Do you not remember how he was injured, twice?
  21. Kolb, having practiced and played in the pre-season, is ineligible for the P.U.P. list.
  22. If Tuel is seriously being considered as an option if E.J. and Kolb are not healthy, he will need some reps against Detroit. All three Q.B.s (Tuel, Lewis, Leinart), I hope, will throw 10-15 passes.
  23. Switch the Falcons and Bills' rankings. Do the same for the Patriots and the Eagles. Our ranking is where it is because C.J. Spiller is awesome and Fred Jackson is a solid backup, not, as some posters here claim, a top-five back in the league. As for a solid measure of success: 4.5 y.p.c. overall in the run game, be in the bottom ten in turnovers from our running backs, and being in the top half of yards per target (passes) for the RBs would qualify as a "successful" season. Pass blocking, while less quantifiable, would be nice too. Some advanced stats can track the effectiveness of C.J. and Fred in helping out in the passing game.
  24. Nope. There's no season mode. You'd have to go through Connected Careers and select either a coach or GM.
