  1. Carolina was using safeties at C.B.
  2. Do you recall the state of Carolina's secondary that game? They literally ran out of cornerbacks due to mid-game injury.
  3. Umm, Reed was likely just congratulating Byrd on a good game. Your conjecture is as useless as mine.
  4. You wouldn't.
  5. He was awesome last week, too.
  6. What is with your syntax? Reading your posts is like skimming a poorly-written poem.
  7. ` This is insane logic.
  8. At best we'll draft fourth, I think, behind Tampa, Minnesota, and Jacksonville
  9. The greatest irony is that even the "great" sharps usually average 53-55% winning percentages. The return on investment in sports betting, even for "experts," is incredibly poor due to the house's cut.
  10. Total QBR is a subjective stat (im)properly calculated by ESPN analysts. The NFL Rookie of the Week is based off of fan voting. Of course a quarterback with a comeback victory will get the votes from fans over, say, an offensive lineman. I'm not nearly as frustrated by Manuel as I am by Marrone and Hackett's decision to play him this week, when he clearly needed another week of practice reps. He also needs a real Q.B. coach to fix his footwork.
  11. If Mariota were actually available at 11- which he almost certainly won't be- I'd probably take him.
  12. +1 for admitting you were wrong, which is rare on this board
  13. Stevie is more valuable to this team than the fifth rounder we'd get for him.
  14. I wouldn't risk a first-rounder- particularly the top-ten pick we are likely to have- on someone who has had a DUI, and I doubt that this front office would.
  15. Today's game made it clear that this is a massive issue for the team. E.J.'s footwork is awful, and Marrone/Hackett clearly don't, and shouldn't, have the time to spend on refining it properly. Also, a real Q.B. coach with no other responsibilities could probably have told Marrone/Hackett that E.J. wasn't ready to play this week. Marrone has made some pretty serious mistakes in assembling his staff that outweigh the positives (the positives being Pettine, Donnie Henderson, and a few other bright spots).
  16. A) Draft Manziel when? I'd consider drafting him in the second or third round, but probably not in the first. B) There are probably better QBs than Manziel. Manziel might turn out to be the best, but I would wager that Mariota, Bridgewater, or Hundley turns out to be better. C) How is money at all relevant? Manziel would be on a slotted contract equivalent to that of any other player taken at his slot. This might, literally, be the stupidest point ever made on this forum.
  17. The running game was poor because the Steelers were able to stack the box and force the Bills to throw. Manuel was incredibly inaccurate, and that's why we lost the game. It doesn't "all come down to being able to run the ball effectively"; competent Q.B. play is more important, and opens up the run game.
  18. Marrone is AWESOME. He has a great special teams coach who just so happens to be a buddy of his. He has a rookie O.C. doubling as Q.B. coach with a rookie Q.B. and no veteran on the roster (besides the injured Kolb). He also made the brilliant decision of starting a Q.B. who wasn't ready to come back from injury today and, clearly, didn't need a full week of practice reps before returning from injury! I'd like to give a special mention to the awesome job Hackett and Marrone have done with coaching Manuel on his footwork. What a great, great head coach. Coach of the Year? Step away, Andy Reid!
  19. When was that?
  20. Having Chris Hogan and Marcus Easley as our #1 and #2 receivers would be far more devastating to our offense than having Tashard Choice and a street F.A. (like Ronnie Wingo) as our top running backs.
  21. That *should* open up C.J. for outside runs and screens to him and F.J.
  22. http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2013/11/10/5087138/ben-roethlisberger-trade-news-request-update-status This is probably just informed speculation, but hopefully these leaked rumors cause the Steelers to lose focus today.
  23. It's hard to qualify it as a "great start" when you lose 70-13.
  24. Their wins aren't against good teams, though.
