  1. I think it's great. We now have a pair of big, talented, young corners to pair up for years to come. The draft is a marathon, not a sprint. This guy is Antoine + 5" and 20 lbs. By 2013 Williams and Gilmore will be a coveted pair of corners. A year or two of seasoning and by 2014 they can be elite. Strong move. Defense wins in Dec and Jan in our conditions.
  2. It's pretty simple. Stevie is our #1 and would also be for many teams in the league. By that criteria alone he's a #1. However, he's not elite (LarryFitz, Megatron, etc) and therefore some folks will bump him down to a #2 for that reason, which is totally fair. The trick now though is that Stevie is at the point in his career where even if we draft Blackmon or Floyd (obviously both are more "physically" talented) he will still be our #1 based on experience, rapport with Fitz, and leadership. Sometimes a team's #1 WR isn't always their most talented guy. See Steelers, Pittsburgh - Hines Ward and Mike Wallace. Clearly Wallace is more talented but Ward remained "the guy" for a duration. Not the case anymore, obviously, but the bottom line is the #1 WR label = more than just "being the best guy on the team". Stevie is a #1 for us, and that's all that matters.
  3. Does anyone know where to purchase the painting on Dre Reed's Twitter page background? I can't make out the artist's name and wondered if anyone had any insight. https://twitter.com/#!/Andre_Reed83 Thanks!
  4. I know that I certainly could not. Since the topic is about college talent and not pro scouting, I'll leave out the shrewd moves Nix has made WRT to plucking gems from the wire/other teams, but who here honestly thought Justin Rogers would be looked at as someone to factor in to the DB rotation this coming year? Da'Norris Searcy looks to have good instincts and a strong work ethic. Spiller looks like he could be elite given 23-27 touches a game. Aaron Williams, if he can stay healthy, looks like an opening day starter. The list goes on...
  5. I live in Boston, surrounded by the jugheaderry of the typical asshat Pats* fan. As much as I'd love to tell these rubes how much better this one move makes our D, i'm not gonna say jack until they DO it on the field. Let the haters see for themselves. Anything else is pissing into the wind until the games are played. TBH, i dont care if bbwolf90 gets 0 sacks in '12, as long as he opens it up for his opposite DE, 99, and 95, it will still be a great addition.
  6. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! We will certainly check out some of the recommended places. Aussie, we are definitely parking in Hammer's Lot, should have our first coldies cracked by 8:00 am! Haven't been to a game at the Ralph since '06. Can't wait!
  7. Hey TBDers! My brother and I are flying in from Boston for the Titans game this weekend. We are stying downtown (Embassy Suites) and have our plans lined up for Saturday night (for the most part). However, I was wondering if anyone can give us some suggestions on places to go for a few beers and maybe some pool/darts/live music within walking distance (or short cab ride) of Niagara Square for Sunday night. We are not dance club type guys, looking more for tips on places that are casual/sports bar type locations that will have some people there on a Sunday (we are going Pearl St. on Sat for the Sabres game). The last couple of times I have stayed downtown for a game the Chippewa area has been pretty dead on Sunday evening so I was wondering if anyone can offer up any alternative suggestions. Heard Allen Street has some cool spots but unsure of the Sunday night scene. Thanks! Mods - feel free to move this post if this is not the appropriate location.
  8. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/2011/11/patriots-colts.html?p1=News_links No news yet on which game will be flexed in to that spot, but it would be sweet if it was our game as I have tix!
  9. Blast your oily hide to Hades!
  10. Encouraging, but I felt like he spent too much time on the ground. Hopefully he can learn to stay on his feet more.
  11. I only listened, but it was obvious to me even on radio that the addition of Dareus to the DL is going to free up Merriman to rush the passer and other LBs to simply hold serve and do their jobs, even after one/two series. This is not to say that Dareus alone is the cure to our defensive ills, but I'm very pleased that Den took Miller and Dareus was there for us. If Willams and Dareus do indeed require 4 blockers, we may actually not allow 200 ypg on the ground this year and that is certainly a step in the right direction for our D. Hard to be grumpy about the Williams/Dareus combo after tonight.
  12. Hey, I'm just as much of a 'win now' guy as anyone, but let's not roast Gailey and Nix after one just season for being behind the Pats. Beating NE will come in time, just like it always does, but they are a good team, well coached, and have a system that's been in place for over a decade. It'll take more than two drafts, 1 season of coaching, and some house cleaning to become the class of the division. Baby steps.
  13. Let's hope so. Dude's what, 34 when the season starts? I don't see Mallet generating first or second round value while riding the bench, when teams simply could have used their own first or second rounder to just take him for themselves.
  14. Perhaps, but barring a Brady injury we won't know until about 2015.
  15. 15 carries, 135 yards. Drives me nuts just imagining the outcome had he received 8 more handoffs.
  16. What is the better strategy, taking the 4th or 5th best player at position x simply because of "need" or taking the best player at another position even if you are relatively set there if the player is elite? IMO you take the BPA, regardless of position. As a caveat, I don't portend to know anything about college football, but if a guy is elite, you take him and find a way to get him on the field rather than drafting a lesser player simply because you think you "need" to fill that spot.
  17. A few other things had to fall into place before that game even became relevant, Ace.
  18. My faves this year were London (IMO his best year), JP (we clearly have a QB), Crowell, Ellison (did a nice job filling in for both Spikes and Crowell, especially for a smallish late round pick), and Peerless. It was nice to see a player I used to call a whimp accept the complimentary role he actually fits best and do it with a team first attitude. He's come a long way and it's good to have him in town. He made his fair share of tough catches this year, bitched only a little, and helped the team win. Good for him. Things are looking up. More everything on both lines in the 07 offseason and this team can do some serious things. It could have actually done some things this year, but sometimes the bitter pill swallowed is more beneficial than the one never taken.
  19. Bingo. These guys need to reboot physically and mentally. Does anyone really believe thier jobs are as intense and demanding as football players or for that matter hockey players?
  20. I like the comments. They show a willingness to look at and address his own weaknesses. All I want to see from Losman is a desire to improve and his comments speak to that. If he was complacent about his benching I'd be more concerned. Just another tool in his development.
