McDermott's defensive lines have been abject failures since he's been here and had to have Lotulelei. We've been giving him multiple draft picks and free agents, year after year and he can't get it done with any of them.
-
Because McD said he didn't want Worthy because he felt they had that type of player and wanted a WR with size. So that's what Beane gave him.
-
And the head coach who is there at every step of the process, who's job is to develop these drafted players, is also accountable. You think only Beane is accountable for how the drafted and signed players perform and I think Beane and McD are.
-
This rests my case.
-
You don't think the players are the head coaches too? They're only assigned to the GM? Now you're just purposely trying to create argument.
-
Perfectly said and almost exactly how I feel.
-
They could be Whiffs and it could be the HC rarely turns a draft pick into an excellent player.
-
I'd squint to see who McD would've picked next to run the offense.
-
That's because you're an amateur talent evaluater and that's your bias.
-
Well it's widely speculated McD loved Elam, so I suppose he got what he wanted. That was also when many picks were used on his side of the ball. I've acknowledged Worthy vs Coleman in another thread but to me that also circles back to coaching. It's time for a different philosophy, IMO. I doubt you think with 3-4 better roster choices, McD takes down Reid.
-
Exactly. This train is driven by Allen and Beane whom drafted him. McDermott isn't doing his part. Hence none of his defensive coaches are getting HC interviews. He's a good coach but he's not the one to beat the Chiefs. He can't do it. It's not that Josh can't do it or Beane isn't getting him good enough players. He can't get it done.
-
So you think we made it to the AFC championship game with this roster and coaching. The final difference for losing was that Beane's roster construction got edged out more than McD did?
-
Yeah if we only had the Chiefs roster, you're correct.
-
So Daboll got a head coaching gig, Brady got interviewed, Dorsey immediately got another OC job because Beane sucks and McD is great. Why haven't any of McD's defensive guys get head coaching jobs? Oh yeah because Beane sucks, haha.
-
Here you go again blaming everyone else but your precious McDermott. You analyze the draft for this board, so you unfairly blame Beane and Allen. Should we hire the Chiefs GM and have their perfect roster?
-
The KC roster is on a down year and everyone knows they're not the talented team they once were, and are going to the Superbowl. Coaching is superior. Ours is a chump in comparison. Good? Yes. So it's either hope another team beats them for us or be ok losing with this coach until he finally gets fired or Allen isn't Allen anymore.
-
There's one consistent thing. McD can't beat the Chiefs coaching staff in the playoffs. They clown him. How can you possibly say that we coached great and if we only had a quarterback that played better we would win these games?
-
Joe Brady and Aaron Kromer had a rough night
White Linen replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
They got clowned as did McD. They know McD only uses his defensive ends to bulk rush and set the edge. They easily used that against McD and just turned Rousseau inside. Over and over and over again. McD finally figured it out way too late and brought Von in. Too late dumb dumb -
He's being coached to do that. It backfired massively tonight. That's on McD. He's to set the edge and he got abused.
-
This bum head coach hasn't had a defensive line including pass rushers do crap since he's been here. No more catering to this weak coach. He's had more than enough resources on his side of the ball. Stop investing in him, he doesn't do anything with it.
-
You don't remember pre- Josh Allen? I'm not blaming the best player in the league because his coach can't help him win the most important games. :13 seconds and tonight are squarely on McD. Even he knows it.
-
Those QB sneaks that lost the game.
-
Just FYI, we've had great secondaries and we coach not to rush the passer. Now what? Just get another excellent secondary and spend less on the O line? We've tried giving McD multiple things and he falls short.
-
I think it is, but we'll never find the courage to do it. Ownership is petrified of making a mistake. We'll just have to wait for someone to beat the Chiefs for us one year and luck into a Superbowl.
-
So true. If we'd get McD some players he'd build a dynasty. I mean he's nearly flawless.
