  1. Actually, I would argue it IS our money. Where do you think that money comes from? Us, every time we buy a ticket or purchase merchandise. That being said, so long as the contract is reasonable it isn't a big deal...It just seems like it would make a whole lot more sense to see if Parrish can actually stay healthy and be a productive player for a whole season first. Personally I think I'd rather see the young prospects make this team over him.
  2. Wow, you are giving Sanchez a lot of credit. I think he is awful, and would much rather have Fitz. Can you imagine how bad Sanchez would be on our team, behind our line? And Fitz STILL out played him last year. Mason is 90, and while Plaxico did make a few plays in one of the pre-season games he has looked otherwise lost and slow.
  3. I normally don't bust on grammar errors...but come one..you have to at least get the title right. I do really like our LB's this year. Barnett was a great pick up and HUGE improvement over POZ, Davis has looked very good now that he's healthy. Merriman looks like a monster (can he stay healthy?). Carrington looks like he could be a play maker in a situational role. I like Batten, Eddins and Coleman in the mix as well. People won't like this, but I think Moats is a long shot to make the team right now. Eddins has looked good, much better than Moats, and could make a run for a roster spot.
  4. I wasn't saying the Dolphins D was the leagues worst, but that the Dolphins team overall might be.
  5. I think most people would agree that Fred Jackson has been better than all of our 1st round draft pick RB's going back quite some time. I would argue that Thurman Thomas and Travis Henry (he's a dirt bag, but was good with the Bills) were the only backs in recent history that we have had that are better than Jackson. So it doesn't seem he's so easily replaceable to me... We've had such guys as Antwan Smith, Willis Mcgahee, Marshawn Lynch, and now Spiller (I still think he can prove himself, but he is Jacksons backup right now)...All 1st round picks...all except spiller moving on with out proving themselves to be starters. The numbers you have shown for Fred are pretty impressive considering his limited playing time and awful o-line.
  6. I do think the Bills will be better than last year, but saying something is a "fact" doesn't make it so. The Bills defense should be much improved, but to say that they will go from being one of the worst (THE worst run d) last year, to being one of the best is asking a little much. I do like our starters on defense now, but if just one or two of them get hurt we are screwed. Merriman looked great, but still hasn't proven he can stay healthy (if anything he has proven the opposite). Davis and Barnett have looked really good to me so far, but they are older with not much depth behind them. If we stay healthy, our defense has a chance to pretty good I think though. I think that is a reasonable statement to make... Also, the Dolphins D is vastly overrated. They could be the worst team in the NFL overall this year.
  7. You are more than welcome to your opinion, but just because yours is different doesn't mean mine is "wrong". Roscoe will go over the middle I never disputed that, however it usually ends up with him leaving the game....The guy HAS iffy hands, if you don't agree with that I understand. He has made some pretty nice catches, I will admit. He also has dropped many catches that other receivers would normally make. This isn't a talent thing, he is short, has short arms, and small hands...he can only do so much.
  8. Yeah I don't buy that...Forget about game planning, TE's, or any other excuse. If you watch that game, you will realize Bell got Blown away over and over again in one on one blocking, usually in less than a full second. Run blocking and pass blocking alike (one play jackson was almost tackled before he took the hand off). None of those excuses have any merit, a starting left tackle should be able to hold a block for a full second, at least once in a while. And saying "well it was Dumervile" isn't an excuse either, he was beat almost every play by him, allowed a sack by Miller, and was thrown into Fitz on the int by Ayers. He literally couldn't block anyone in that game. I know Bell hasn't looked THAT bad every game, and people want to be optimistic. But he got absolutely destroyed in that game, no excuses can change that.
  9. +1. It's not like Parrish is a young prospect waiting to "bloom". He's been around, and has done very little so far in his career other than get hurt. The guy is built like a twig, and crumbles under the slightest contact. He's nothing close to a Welker type, who can go across the middle and take a hit. Parish has iffy hands, and short arms as well. Unless the pass is thrown perfectly to him he can't catch it....Oh yeah, there was also the time when he thought he was great and "demanded" more targets in the offense, then hinted that he wanted a trade....PASS.. he couldn't stay healthy for more than a few snaps in the pre-season, so reward him with a contract?
  10. I challenge you to watch the pre-season game against the Broncos. What I saw there was the definition of god awful... Granted he's not always that bad, but im just sayin...
  11. We haven't seen enough of Hairston to make a real judgement on the guy, but what I have seen has looked pretty good...The dude is HUGE and strong, if he has any sort of talent to go with that he could be pretty good. I watched him block two different guys, one with each arm, and didn't move at all. The thing you worry about with big guys is can they handle speed...Of course Bell can't handle speed rushers anyway, so what the heck...
  12. I have to admit, I was pretty happy with the Thigpen signing...but he has looked really bad so far. He hasn't had much time with this team, and has been playing with all 2nd stringers (we know how bad our starting o-line is, let alone the backups), so I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The guy really impressed me with a completely awful KC team, I think if we needed him to step up he could. Let's just hope Fitz stays healthy and plays like a #1, so we don't have to worry about it.
  13. Sorry man, but Hangartner is no "considerable upgrade" IMO. There was a reason he got demoted from starting duty, he got mauled and overpowered by big d-linesman. I am no Urbik fan, but he has looked much better the last two games. I would love an upgrade, but Hangartner is not it. Clearly you haven't actually watched the pre-season games, or were mistaking Pears for Bell...as bad as the O-line has been for the Bills at times, Pears has been the ONLY consistently capable player. I'll admit I thought bringing in Pears as a starter was a joke at first, but the guy has been playing better than anyone else on the O-line. He may not be that strong, but he has decent pass blocking skills.
  14. Everyone's welcome to their opinion. But if he's behind Merriman, Kelsey, Carrington, Batten, and Coleman on the roster at OLB (which he was), then he would be a likely guy to be cut. The coaching staff moved him to ILB to try and find a spot for him to contribute on the team. I know people like Moats, including myself, but Batten and Coleman have played better than Moats at OLB. We needed help at ILB, so it was worth seeing what Moats could do there. Saying guys "don't count" on the OLB roster because they are basically DE's is a little ridiculous. There is not much of a difference between the strong side 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 DE. They often play right on the line as a DE would, which is why Kelsey and Carrington will be filling that job...
  15. I don't see any of these guys getting cut. Roscoe seems to have the best chance though. He's always injured, and hasn't been able to play this preseason. There are a lot of young guys eager to take his spot (Huggins?). McGee could very well be our starting CB (should be IMO). He's not going anywhere. Sp. Johnson has been absolutely awesome this preseason, and is vital depth on the D-line. Absolutely zero chance he gets cut. Scott might be a possibility but I really doubt it. The bills like to use him in nickle packages to cover the TE. He is also a very solid backup to Wilson. Searcy hasn't shown much in the preseason that would make you think they could afford to cut Scott. Corto is great on special teams, he might make the team anyway.
  16. Thats true, the injury to Troup does give him a little bit of a pass. For the record I am NOT a Kelsey hater, he is decent and took way too much blame for the awful D last year in his FIRST EVER try at OLB. It looks like that spot will probably be a rotation of Carrington and Kelsey, looks like a good mix.
  17. The problem for Moats, is that the Bills have better options on the outside (Batten, Coleman, Carrington,...) so he simply doesn't have a spot there. They moved him inside because we had very little depth there. He would at least have a chance to secure some playing time. I know Moats is very popular, but he was a DE in college and has struggled to play NFL LB IMO, inside or outside. He showed some ability as a pass rusher, but really seemed to struggle with the other aspects of playing LB. He will make the team and get a year of being a backup to try and learn the position. I like the Morrison signing, we all know injuries happen and having experienced depth is a plus.
  18. There are some guys that are you expect to play at a high level, but I've noticed a few unheralded guys that have really stepped up and impressed me this pre-season... Spencer Johnson - This guy has been around for a while, but he has never looked like this. He has wowed me all 3 games so far, even against starters. He seems to be involved in every play, either providing pressure, making tackles down field, or batting down passes. Where has this guy been? He definitely deserves his playing time on the line, this is great because it frees up Carrington to make a run at the LB position. Dareus looks great, but he is big and won't be on the field every down. Erik Pears - I'll admit I was very skeptical about Pears early in camp (still am a little). No other team has wanted to keep this guy on their roster, even as a backup. However, he is the ONLY guy on the line who hasn't really been beat badly and has been the most consistent guy on the OL. If he continues this play in the regular season, I will be happy to admit I was wrong. Bell is definitely the scarier of the two... Batten - I'm not ready to crown him a star yet, but he has looked very solid so far. So if/when Merriman goes down with an injury, I would feel very comfortable with him stepping in. Carrington - He's big, he's athletic, he's making an impact. He could make a run at the starting OLB spot for all the Kelsey haters... Heard - It seems like he is a on the outside looking in to make the team...Too bad, this guy is huge, he plays strong and aggressive. He really stands out when he is on the field. I hope he makes it. Who else should be on this list? I didn't mention guys like Dareus, KW, Merriman,... because they were expected to be good. Just for good measure I have to include a few guys who are under acheiving. Torrell Troup has been invisible on the football field, and opposing 2nd string o-lines push him around at will **edit** as some have mentioned he is playing with an injury, so judging him on this preseason is a little unfair. He looked the same last year though, luckily we are deep on the DL. McKelvin struggles as a starter, it's as simple as that.
  19. Torbor may have been the worst player on this team outside of the offensive line...This is good news. Morrison is good depth, our starters are solid. I am fairly certain Jasper would beat Torbor in a foot race, even though he is double the size.
  20. I don't understand the love affair with Moats, and the hatred for Kelsey. Sorry, but Kelsey is better than Moats at this time (flame away). Don't get me wrong, Moats showed some pass rushing ability...but that's it. IMO he really struggled in all other aspects of OLB play, yes worse than Kelsay. He has short arms and struggles to wrap up, he can't cover, and is no better in open space than Kelsey. Kelsey is also stronger at the point of attack than Moats. He has proven that this preseason. His pressure led to the Dareus sack by forcing the QB into Dareus. I like Moats, but to expect him to be a starter is a little unrealistic. He was moved to ILB because he fell too far down the depth chart behind Merriman, Kelsay, Batten, Coleman... The move to ILB gives him a chance to play where there is little competition behind Davis and Barnett(Just the unproven Sheppard, and the AWFUL Torbor). Moats will have a chance to prove himself.
  21. This is probably true, but after watching Saturday's game it's hard to feel good about it...Bell got schooled over and over.
  22. It was tough to see the helmet on the live play, but you could hear it. There is a replay that shows it from the other angle.
  23. You need to watch that play again, and turn the volume up. It was straight helmet to helmet, it was loud, you could hear it. What do you think knocked him out? It was also a little late, the ball was out of his hands. He was also going out of bounds. Again, I'm not a big fan of the defenseless receiver rule...but that was a dirty hit. It was completely unnecessary and would have had no effect on the play.
