  1. You are WAY off here. I won't argue that Davis has slowed down a little, but I would say that is his only weakness. It's no coincidence that the Bills run D has been MUCH better with Davis in the middle. He is big strong and a very solid tackler, and unlike POZ, makes tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. At this point in his career he is not great in coverage. He also is rarely even asked to rush the QB, so of course he is not going to ring up sacks. The Bills rarely blitz up the middle, and if they do it's usually Barnett. Don't expect Sheppard to be a pass rusher either, that's not his role. Having said that, Sheppard has a much higher upside. I'd love to see him show it, and I have no problem with him replacing Davis if he's ready. But to say Davis "sucks" just because we have a young player stepping up is unjustified, It sounds like maybe you should actually watch him play, especially against the run... I am guessing the major reasons for Sheppard getting rushed in was Vick (speed, for that game), and the need for better coverage. To the OP's point it will be interesting to see if he takes the starting spot for good.
  2. Pears is proving to be a solid RT...we need a solid LT NOW. IMO, Bell did just enough to hold is own. He would get beat on occasion, and wasn't very strong against the run. Hairston is raw, but has much higher upside. He is way stronger than Bell, and can block a DE with just one arm. In run blocking, its no contest, Hairston is better. I say leave him in and let him learn. Bell has topped out, and is injury prone.
  3. Yeah it had nothing to do with Jim Zorn's amazing offense right? Or the amazing Jason Cambell's entry to the NFL? The same Redskins that spent 154 mil on Haynesworth and Hall? Sure, blame that on Lloyd. I am not sure where your anti-Lloyd hatred comes from, but it's a little over the top. It sounds like you never actually watched the guy play. Even with the Bronco's offense struggling as they are, he still has more yards than Jones, Nelson or any other of "Bills #2's". His 14.9 ypc is 2.6 better than any Bill on the roster, for his career it is 15.8. He also has far better hands than our stone handed receiving core (Nelson excluded). Hate him all you want, but he would make our team better. SJ is good, but we need another downfield weapon to keep this thing going, especially with the way our D is getting gashed. Naaman is a nice depth possession guy, not a number 2. I am not saying give away a high draft pick, or sign him to a huge contract (not like we don't have the cap space). But look into it, he would make us better.
  4. I don't see that happening. Even if it did I think I'd still rather have Lloyd. There is no doubt Wayne has talent, but is he really THAT good? Or were all of his great stats a result of being Manning's receiver for his whole career?... I think Lloyd is more well rounded, and would fit in perfectly to our offense.
  5. You are welcome to your opinion, but name a single decent QB that has thrown a pass to him? Orton was the by far the best of a bad group, and you see what he did. The bottom line is the guy has talent (After SJ, we don't at WR). Is it insane to wan't someone a little better than Naaman Roosevelt to be our number 2?
  6. You say he is not a "burner" but he is by no means slow. Heck, he averages 15.8 YPC for his career. He certainly is a better deep threat than anyone on the team, including SJ. I have watched him play his whole career, and he knows how to get open down field and make catches. The guy also has tremendous hands, and knows how to go up for the ball. He is well balanced and can make plays ANYWHERE on the field. I like SJ, but Lloyd is better... IMO this guy is a top 10 receiver in this league, that has NEVER had a good QB throwing to him. Put him with Fitz and our offense could be lights out... Lee Evans had serious speed, too bad that didn't equal production. I'll take Lloyd any day...
  7. This guy is a beast, I liked him very limited play in the pre-season. He looked good in his first start, against a strong pass rushing team. Bell played OK this year, but Hairston seems to have way more upside... I always feel like Bell is a disaster waiting to happen, even if he puts up a few satisfactory performances in a row. I have to say, our O-line had been the biggest surprise this year. Even with a few injuries they have been decent. A lot of credit for this goes to Gailey for the game planning. I had some major doubts about appointing Pears the starter before the season...I will happily admit that I was wrong... This is the key with him. Our O-line I think has exceeded our expectations so far, but our they haven't exactly been opening up huge holes for the run...They have succeeded due to a combination of a good passing attack, great game planning, and a tremendous Fred Jackson who can find holes where many running backs cannot. If we have a strong beast like Hairston clearing people out, that will only make us better...
  8. As soon as I saw he was on the trading block this was my immediate thought. Lloyd is good, always has been...His QB's have for the most part always been bad. I think he would be a very good pick up for this team... I would give up a 4th if we had to, but the price should be low since this is basically a half season loan... I would give a 3rd or more if we were able to lock him up for 3 years
  9. This goes back to the main points of criticism against Miller...He is one dimensional. I don't think anyone ever doubted he was a decent pass rusher, but the other aspects of his game have always been weak going back to college. He doesn't cover well, and can't fight off blocks in the run game. Until he can do that, he will struggle as a "full time" player. So far though it doesn't look like there were any obvious busts early in the draft, the rookies have looked good this year. Dareus has been exactly what we have needed him to be at this point. The stats wont show it, but he has been a big part of all those INT's, and our much better run D. Now we just need a healthy secondary...And for Merriman to do....ANYTHING?
  10. No chance. For one, you need multiple backs in this league to be successful. What happens if FJ gets injured? The guy was basically drafted to be a situational RB/WR, which is what he has been used as. And he has been in the league for a whole 19 games. The Bills have not extended FJ yet, trading Spiller would give him huge leverage.
  11. I'm from Albany. This is just a lady with no career trying to "spark" interest in her uninformed, poorly written garbage. You could even send emails to the editor. Probably wouldn't be hard to get her canned. The coverage in Albany goes like this...Giants first and foremost (heck the Giants training camp is here). Jets second, being far outnumbered by Giants fans. Then the Bills. Actually the Patriots get almost no coverage of any kind here, other than national style coverage due to their dominance .
  12. That's easy...we beat the Pats. The Raiders are better than advertised too. And our offense looks legit. 2008 we squeaked our way past bad teams to go 4-0. Oh yeah...NO DICK JAURON!!!! I loved Gailey's decision to go for it on 4th and long against the Pats, it didn't work but it was still the right call. Jauron would have punted on 3rd down just to be safe...
  13. Yeah, I thought the Bills D was a good match up against the raiders last week, so I picked them up and played them....OOPS. That broke a long streak an anti Bill fantasy policy. I also picked up Nelson for my bench this week as well though.
  14. I'm not sure what makes you think Andra is old and slow...He has been been all over any attempted run up the middle, making tackles that POZ missed routinely. I think he has looked great so far this year. He is a rock solid tackler, and has been everywhere he is supposed to be. Sheppard basically missed all of the pre-season, if you expect him to be a miracle starter this year you may be disappointed... I have been very impressed with Davis' ability to make tackles RIGHT at the line, unlike our LB's from previous years making tackles 5-10 yards down field...this guy can play, and he's strong. We should be more worried about McKelvin's awful coverage, especially against the pats...
  15. Some apparently have that expectation. Just because a guy was signed, doesn't mean they want to replace a starter though. We needed depth...I never got any sense from the organization that they wanted him to replace Davis. I also think Davis is flat out better than Morrison (who was reportedly awful for the Jags last year). Sheppard is a guy they are looking at going forward, but he missed almost the entire preseason and will probably have to wait until next year to prove himself. Andra Davis has been a starter for a very long time, and a good one at that. He has been great for us so far this year, starting with the pre-season. Do I need a car?
  16. He's a backup...He's not supposed to play that much...Barnett is way better than Morrison, Andre Davis is better than Morrison...Morrison is their backup, hence he won't play much barring injury. (Morrison also has a tweaked hammy). He was basically picked up to replace Torbor as the primary backup...who was absolutely awful even before he got hurt. Why are guys bitching over what was a better "swap"? Barnett is far better than both Poz or Morrison. The Bills had no intention of picking up Morrison until Torbor proved just how bad he really was (and then got injured). He was picked up to be a backup. Poz has looked like the slow, late, LB we saw here in Buffalo. He has been torched on the Jags so far. Our middle LB moves were very solid...Oh yeah, we are paying way less for Barnett and Morrison combined, than the Jags are paying for Poz...Jags got the shaft, end of story...
  17. Exactly...saying McKelvin is getting "burned" isn't accurate in my opinion. The guy is fast, and he is almost always right on the reciever...by far his biggest problem is he does not know how to prevent the receiver from catching the ball. He just stares at the receiver as he catches it right over the top of him. If he tries to make any sort of play on the ball he ends up committing pass interference. He is fast and agile enough to cover guys like glue...he just has no clue how to play the ball. The bigger the receiver, the harder this is for him. He has the athletics, he doesn't have the brains or instincts...
  18. While McKelvin in general has looked pretty bad, I can't blame him or Wilson on the touchdown. I honestly think it was just an amazing play by the WR Moore. That kid knows how to get to the ball and has great hands. Both McKelvin and Wilson were all over him on that play, he just went up higher, and somehow held on. Not many WR's in the nfl can make that play... Oh, Whitner wouldn't have been within 20 yards of that play, so I'm not sure what you are thinking there... Did you see the end of the Cowboy's game?!?!
  19. If KC is any higher than 28, that would be ridiculous. That team looks beyond awful, they were already without their star TE, now they lost by far their best player in Charles. Cassell is, and always has been a terrible QB. I think we have a new entry into the Luck sweepstakes... While I love the fight in the Bills so far, they have played two weak teams. Allowing the amazing Cambell to torch our secondary, doesn't give me any good feelings about matching up with NE this week...
  20. Parrish is injured again....Lets resign him! I say cut him and in favor of someone who can actually help this team. We need consistent play at receiver, they should bring Roosevelt back. He's not flashy, but at least he can get open underneath and make catches. On the flip side. Stevie Johnson showed some real heart, playing through what was obviously a painful injury. After re-tweaking his groin he not only stayed in the game, but made a few nice catches. We need more players like this Also on the positive, David Nelson. I have loved this guy since his first camp. He is huge, runs great routes, and has great hands (best on the team by far)...I am glad the Bills are finally letting him show his talent, even if took some injuries (parrish) for him to get the chances. The knocks on him are speed, and power, but he's solid
  21. He has played great since ~ week 12 last year. Of course good luck convincing those who have already made up their mind and made emotional judgement last year after just a few weeks in a new position...
  22. It's not like this is something new. McKelvin has had plenty of chances, and failed in the majority of those chances. He is quick, but is clueless on how to play the ball. This results in either a penalty, or a catch... Bottom line, McKelvin just isn't a starting quality CB. As a matter of fact he is pretty bad. Opposing offenses target him every time he is on the field, and to much success. It really hurt us to lose McGee, because we have no options other than an unproven rookie behind him. Reggie Corner is basically McKelvin lite. Florence and the safeties are fine, its that other starting CB spot that's the issue. Also, we had no pass rush this past week either. While the D looked pretty bad against the Raiders, I love how the Bills have looked in general. The problem is, we have done nothing to show we would be able to stop the Pats from shredding us...
  23. Ummm, what? I really like Fred Jackson, but I don't see how he draws even the slightest comparison to TD... Fred Jackson is just finally getting his chance to start a full season, at the age of 30. He is a very good well rounded back, but I don't think any one considers him one of the best in the league. He runs tall, and he has a good combination of power, speed, and vision. He doesn't dominate in any of those categories however. TD was an explosive once in a generation kind of guy, who also happened to play for one of the best run designing coaches in the league. He was absolutely dominant until he knees failed him while he was still in his prime. +1, nice description. Freddie isn't slow either, but he doesn't run like CJ, or JC. He finds and gets to a hole quickly, then glides through. Somewhat unique. He probably won't break a ton of huge runs, but he's consistent, and can work with a lesser line like the Bills. He doesn't need huge holes. Much better comparison than TD
  24. Two things to note here...Why would the Bills try to sign him NOW when his stock is at its highest, even though he has yet to show consistency.... No one talking to Parish's agent absolutely thrills me. I know people love him, but the guy does not help us win. He didn't have a catch in last weeks domination. He is too inconsistent and fragile to play slot in the NFL, Welker he is NOT....Pass +1 one, I like Fitz. But I don't want the franchise to go crazy over him after one game, only to be stuck with another mediocre QB for years. Fitz could very well be a franchise guy, let's just have him prove it first...
  25. The music city "miracle" sucked, but hey, at least we were in the playoffs and competing... I think this one will always stick with me though, one of the worst games of pro football EVER to be played. The 2009 6-3 loss vs the Browns, the slug fest between two legendary QB's... Despite Trent Edwards explosion of offense in that game (153 yards), he couldn't manage to lead his Bills past the historic 2 of 17 for 23 yards performance that Derrick Anderson put up... http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=291011002 This one scarred me. It's one thing to be bad, but to look that awful against a team that looked like they were trying to lose was just pathetic...
