I was thinking that, but he just played so I'm pretty sure it's too late.

Roster cuts you should know about including Jabar Gaffney
Turbosrrgood replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, but in this case Gaffney is also a dumpster pick... -
Honestly this seems to be bit off(IMO), especially for a list titled "for sure picks who will make the team" Brad Smith and Jackson are as much locks to make the team as anyone else, Smith plays every position, and the Bills just traded for Jackson and cut Young. Zebrie Sanders is almost guaranteed to be cut or get a PS spot, it's extremely unlikely he makes the roster given his playing time and the preseason depth chart, Obviously Hairston, Glenn, and Pears make it, POSSIBLY Young based on Pears health. Similarly I think only Asper or Brown would make the active roster, not both, possibly neither Carrington is far from safe, actually with Gilberts play I'm pretty sure Carrington is as good as gone. Carder is another guy practice squad bound IMO (despite unrealistic expectation of a 5th rounder). He has had very little playing time, and what playing time he's had show's that he's very raw and needs work. He is behind Shep, Morrison, and McKillop who are all likely to make the team. Scott is listed as a LB, and it seems that Howell could get a roster spot as the 4th safety. Lastly, both Rogers and McGee are battling injuries. I don't see a scenario in which they both make it to the active roster opening day. The fact that McGee actually played in a game (they both played for the first time, second half of steelers game) gives him more of a shot than I thought he had, although he didn't look very good. I'm a big McGee fan, but he's still not healed after knee surgery, I think it would be something of a surprise if he makes the team. we'll know these answers very soon though.

Did the Bills really reach for T.J. Graham?
Turbosrrgood replied to Damond Talbot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well to respond to the title of this thread, Wilson doesn't even enter the equation. My opinion of a "reach pick" would be taking a guy well ahead of where other teams would have drafted him. Now I know we are all skeptical of the "experts" but most had him going between the 4-7th rounds, with some having him as undrafted. It seems very likely that he would have been available in the 4th or later (obviously speculation). So regardless of how well he does, or doesn't do, or who else we could have taken, I would still say it was a bit of a reach. I think what really makes it a reach, is that we needlessly traded up to get a player that probably wasn't even on anyone's radar (more speculation). It certainly seems like the Jags were dead set on a third round punter for some reason...Let's just hope he (Graham, not the Jags punter) proves to be worth it. -

So because someone suggests doing something you don't agree with, it's an asinine comment? If either of those two comments is asinine, I would have to say it's yours. Gaffney was been a productive receiver in this league, especially last year on a team with awful QB's. Hagan has been around a long time and has done next to nothing. I like them both, but Hagan hasn't been able to pass a very raw and inconsistent Jones on the depth chart, or make any impact on his teams, now entering his 6th year. Nothing wrong with looking at a veteran WR, for a team sorely lacking in WR talent. -

I don't know, the Jags (who we jumped) took a punter with their 3rd rounder (also passing on Wilson)... Bills fans might accept a second team into the "idiots" category this time... -
Why Your Team Sucks 2012: Buffalo Bills

Rate Tarvaris Jackson's arm strength and Accrurcy
Turbosrrgood replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah I understand that. I thought Young was bad before he ever reached Buffalo. The problem is, Jackson has probably looked worse. I can understand wanting to upgrade, but we got rid of one mobile QB who's play is incredible inconsistent, for another. So we just swapped garbage, for garbage who will not have a chance to learn the system. Plus it cost us a pick. I supposed we couldn't get much worse than VY, I guess I just didn't like giving up a pick for a guy who would probably have been cut anyway. -

I'm from upstate NY, and have spent plenty of time working in Buffalo. I "get it", I just didn't find it funny. -

I was actually expecting the article it's self to be funny and poke fun at the team...Instead it's just a douchy attack on the people that live in Buffalo. I'm not even from there but I wanted to reach through my monitor and inflict violence on the author. The comments from fans however, are freaking hilarious and well worth reading. -

Umm, no. AGAIN, Young wasn't cut, his contract expired and he became a FA. Young and Edwards were never even on the same team together. How does a guy beat out a another guy who's not even on the team? -
I was kind of surprised at all the Moorman hate, last season all the way through this preseason. However I am not surprised that I haven't heard anything like that lately. He has been nothing short of terrific this offseason. Perhaps his new "aussie" punting style for inside the 20 has re-ignited his career. I haven't looked at any stats, but just watching him play it seems like virtually all of his punts are ending up inside the 20, most inside the 10, and regularly at or inside the 5. Has he had any touchbacks this preseason? Not that we want to have to rely on our punter as much as we have his entire career, but Moorman still looks like a top 10 or even top 5 punter to me.

And the search for the Bills MLB begins
Turbosrrgood replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Barnett has been just fine on the weakside, very good actually. And I think Moats has surprised everyone by all of the sudden looking like a good (but still learning) LB on the strong side. I think the big question mark is right in the middle. Thankfully our D-line looks amazing, so it should be a good situation for whoever is playing LB... Lol. I watched every play too. It's still just your opinion. Which I accept. Clearly the coaches are sticking with Shep at least for now, so I think we are all hoping he proves his worth when it counts. -

Wrong on both counts there. Trent Edwards didn't beat out VY, it was a 1 year contract that expired. Thigpen didn't beat out young either, I'm not sure where you got that idea, however if you had followed this situation in the pre-season you would realize that it's just simple incorrect. Thigpen didn't even play in the last preseason game, and Gailey himself even said Young has outplayed Thigpen. Jackson was brought in to replace Young as the #2. The only way Thigpen makes the team, is to buy Jackson enough time to get caught up. Obviously the FO/Coaches think Jackson is better than young, or this wouldn't have happened. My point was that we are just replacing one poor QB, with another poor QB who has no knowledge of our system or any practice time, however it has now costs us draft picks. -

I'm no so sure about that, Starks has been very inconsistent, and his success came on the best passing offense in the game (meaning teams weren't focusing on the run). Choice has looked very good this offseason, plus has the Gailey connection. Besides, with Fred and CJ up front, I wouldn't expect to see the 3rd string RB very much in any circumstance barring injury. -

You'd certainly like to the Bills at least consider guys like Gaffney and Alexander. Interesting to see the comments on Parish also. -
Did Lombardi nail it Re: Fitz and offence

Yeah, Wilson was amazing in the pre-season. I give credit to Carroll for actually starting the best player, not automatically starting the big named, high paid FA. -
I don't know much about Jason Smith, but I'm pretty sure he couldn't possibly be any worse than Hunter. He may be the worst OT I have ever seen in the NFL. 2nd/3rd/4th stringers were simply obliterating him in the last game. I can't believe anyone would trade anything for him, he was likely to be cut anyway....

That's all opinion DR, and I know how much you already despise this thread, but I disagree. I watched Shep on every snap. I will agree that he played better than he did against the VIkes, but he still looks like a liability out there. He is getting blown off the play by FB's everytime teams run up the middle. He also got bowled over into the end zone on 3rd and 2. Sorry, there is just nothing I have seen out of him that says "solid NFL MLB". But let's hope I'm wrong. My point all along has been that we have another proven MLB on the team. I'm just very disappointed that there wasn't a competition to make sure we put the best MLB out there on the field. I'm not sure that we did... I think it's fair to be as concerned about this position as any other. -

So the OP is making his opinions off of pre-season comp %...Going by that, there is clear evidence that Fitz is actually better than Aaron Rodgers... -

I didn't really get this trade... We've all seen Travaris Jackson play, if not there are 34 starts for you to watch out there. He is a VERY similar QB to Vince Young. Maybe a little more consistency, but certainly less upside. Here's why I don't get it though. Vince Young had all of training camp and preseason to learn the system. Jackson will have less than one week, and one meaningless preseason game in which many of the players taking part will be cut. I don't see how he is much, if any, of an upgrade over Young. He certainly won't be prepared to play any time soon. Yet we are paying more for him, and had to trade a draft pick. Also, had we not traded for him, Jackson was all but certain to be cut. Young certainly didn't look great in his time here, so I am happy that the Bills are still trying to upgrade. I just think we've seen the best of what Jackson has to offer, and it's not much. -

Yeah this isn't exactly "Breaking News". Fitz is our QB, that's not going to change between now and the opener, so let's just see what happens before we start screaming "the sky is falling". Besides, we picked up the best "starter candidate" backup out there in Vince Young, we all saw how that ended. -
And the search for the Bills MLB begins
Turbosrrgood replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. It looks like the coaches are sticking with Shep, but there are obvious signs of concern. Morrison looked terrific in the last game by the way, and was playing like a MLB should. Attacking the run, getting around blocks, and playing with passion. The thing that concerns me the most with Shep, is that his only game plan seems to be to run directly into blockers. He plays slow, and passively, doesn't attack, and seems to WANT to lock up with blockers. He rarely touches the ball carrier on runs...Even mediocre MLB's should lead their team in tackles (Poz, Morrison, ect...), however Shep seems to make the fewest tackles of any defender on the field. -

Turbosrrgood replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you that he is young, and as a 3rd round pick you don't necessarily expect him to start in his first year or two. Which is basically my point, they should have allowed Morrison to compete for the job. Now, after Sheppard has struggled, they are giving Morrison reps there. Coincidence? Maybe, but I think it's fair to talk about it. I know many get upset about the slightest negative opinion towards players, that doesn't mean it's absolutely false... Also, how can you say it's a FACT that we haven't seen what Sheppard can do. He played in 13 games last year, started 5, and played in all of training camp and both pre-season games this year? I think it's fair to say we have at least seen some of what he can do. If he was lighting it up and all over the field (like Dareus, who was in the same draft), people would be lining up to say how great he was... Can he still improve, and become a solid player? Absolutely, but we haven't seen it yet, so we comment on what we HAVE seen.
