I'm guessing a DUI won't go over well with his probation officer...This kid is heading for jail, then suspension (if anyone ever gives him a chance). And no, we definitely should NOT sign him (Pats have yet to cut him anyway as far as I know).

Carrington should start at DE
Turbosrrgood replied to 26TrapDraw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was very effective last year despite not getting a ton of playing time. In his first 2 years, he was forced to play LB even though he was a 300+ lb defensive lineman. Let's give him some more playing time at his natural position before we start freaking out. Glad you noticed his impact on special teams though. -

Comparing him to Maybin doesn't do a lot to prop him up as a contributor. Certainly not with his 28M dollar contract. Despite Maybin's fluke stretch where he had 6 sacks (basically blitzing like an extra DB), he amassed a total of 1 tackle no sacks in 10 games last year. -
Carrington should start at DE

I thought Anderson was hugely overrated and over paid when we signed him. He basically has had 1 good year in his career, and was never a full time starter. He won't be a starter here either...He certainly could be a cut candidate. -

I agree, and I think Pettine does too judging from his reps in mini-camp. I thought Carrington was an absolute beast last year, despite only getting spotty playing time. Last year was also the first that he was playing the right position for him. He had to recover from the Edwards debacle where he was forced to play LINE BACKER at 300 + lbs. I have no doubt Carrington will see plenty of playing time this year, and I think he will be very effective. I don't however think the "starter" label is necessarily that important, it seems like Pettine will probably rotate guys around and switch up schemes. I think it's just about getting him plenty of playing time, and putting him in a position to succeed. I'm kind of hoping it will be Dareus for several reasons. 1) He actually played very well there as a rookie, when he was forced into that role due to injury. 2) He is getting huge(er), I'm not sure that this is a good thing, but it's not as bad of a thing for a NT to be his size, as opposed to a DE. 3) I'm a big KW fan, but he is not a NT, and should not be a NT despite his pro bowl season there. He is only 300 lbs and his strength is penetrating, not anchoring or run stuffing. I also think Branch preferred being a DE in Seattle. I think all of these guys will rotate around to some extent though. -
#22 - Can Dareus have a breakout season?
Turbosrrgood replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personally I thought his rookie year was his breakout year, he looked like a beast. The defense under Wanny looked absolutely horrible, for many reasons. I'm willing to give individual players a pass on that debacle, provided they show up this year. I'd like to see the dude show up to camp in shape though, he looked fat last year, and looked just as fat or fatter in mini-camps this year. If they plan on using him as a NT, maybe that's ok, otherwise he should be showing up at 330 or less. -
Ron Jaworski's on QB Kevin Kolb (Ranked #30)
Turbosrrgood replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude what are you talking about, did you miss it!?!? For the first time in years the Bills have a top 30 NFL QB! It's also quite clear from the success in mini camp that our defense has gone from worst to best in the NFL. Top 30 QB + best NFL defense in history = SUPER BOWL!!!!! -
With out continuing the theme of overly long posts...Your utopian football economy is an idealistic but unrealistic thought, which digressed into a political rant. It's kind of like saying the world would be great without taxes, or war, but realistically it will never happen. Back in reality, public money in large amounts would likely continue be required to keep the Bills in a small market like Buffalo...And as a fan and taxpayer I am all for that public expenditure.

Ron Jaworski's on QB Kevin Kolb (Ranked #30)
Turbosrrgood replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whoa! We finally have a top 30 QB! I smell a SUPER BOWL! On a side note, I thought this ranking was well done and mostly agree with what was said. -
Kind of interesting to watch people rail against "public money" for stadiums. Especially considering the fact that if there is any chance that Buffalo can keep the Bills, it will likely require large amounts of public money to do so. If you say "no to public money", you might as well say "no" to an NFL franchise in Buffalo.

A little late, yet interesting - JCUTLER V RFITZPATRICK
Turbosrrgood replied to ctk232's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the main thing you can take out of this isn't that Fitz is better than we thought, but that Cutler is not a very good QB (Been my opinion for a long time)...He has been living on the hype train his whole career, while never playing at a high level. He is an INT machine, always has been. Cutler has somehow always been talked about by many as a top tier QB, without ever having come close to earning that label. That is something that has always puzzled me. It's been 7 years of poor QBing now... The general reasoning I hear for this is simple a host of excuses... -
ESPN lists Nigel Bradham as a borderline top-ten LB in 2016
Turbosrrgood replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Bradham's potential as much as the next guy, but I have seen few articles more meaningless than this one. Dude is solid physically, but hopefully Pettine can coach him up fundamentally. He looked lost at times last year, and was often out of position. -

My thoughts exactly...This kid made some bad mistakes, it was on him, it was tragic...Now the parents are trying to profit off that, at the expense of others. Bottom line is, as an adult you cannot expect the county or anyone else to be responsible for your drinking habits. I'd like to think optimistically that city will defeat such a lawsuit, but they will probably offer a multi-million dollar agreement on top of the legal costs the country will face. Tack on a few mil for unnecessary lighting and fencing in an area where no one should be in the first place. Enjoy celebrating your kid's death with a windfall of money. -
Is Jeff Tuel the reason for T. Tax departure?
Turbosrrgood replied to Cheddar's Dad's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EJ Manuel is the reason for TJax's departure. They want's to get EJ more reps, and don't need two mediocre journeyman QB's on the roster to compete with him. Tuel is the emergency backup/clipboard holder, and is getting very few reps. Look at the minicamps as the runoff to determine which vet would compete with EJ during trainingcamp. Kolb won. -
Simple, he didn't play that well in college. He had an OK, but unspectacular senior year after being terrible as a junior. He had no mobility, an average arm, and didn't produce. Guess he was a late bloomer. He has really honed his sissy kick late in his career too (See Baltimore playoff game last year).

Why are Lawson and Branch missing?
Turbosrrgood replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No big deal, heck SJ doesn't even work out in the offseason, he's done alright. Technically they only missed voluntary OTA's, so Marrone didn't "let" them do anything, he didn't have a choice in the matter. Of course since they are new guys, they may very well be considered behind and down on the depth chart when they do show up. -
Marrone seems to love single back formations (Which is best for Spiller anyway). I like Leach as a FB, but I don't think the Bills have much use for this guy. Supposedly the Bills will be spreading the field, not using a power run game (something Spiller isn't capable of anyway). The Bills also have Gragg and Dorin Dickerson, two h-back type of guys. Those type of guys are starting to replace FB's in the NFL, where the emphasis is spreading the field and speed, not power.

Stevie Johnson's one handed catch
Turbosrrgood replied to Billsrhody's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I forgot the Bills were ever that close in that game. I only remembered our D getting it's worse ass kicking in a season full of ass kickings (yes, I know we technically gave up more points to the Pats). -

Completely agree. Woods is a very good center (when healthy), however he did not wow me playing G...He was the top center in his class in college, and has been a top level center in the NFL...That's where he belongs. Granted Legursky has played mostly C as well, but I'd have to imagine he is being looked at as a possible starting G/backup C. With Woods injury problems, it has become clear that having a backup C with some experience is valuable. Also something to keep in mind...While I do like the Legursky signing (cheap, experienced, versatile interior olinesman), he has been far from stellar. By most accounts he was a below average center, playing there purely out of necessity. I do believe he could be an adequate replacement for Levitre, but I certainly wouldn't expect anything special from him. Certainly he hasn't done anything to make you think he would replace Wood at center.

Alex Carrington - Secret superstar
Turbosrrgood replied to Fixxxer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've actually been a huge fan of Carrington's, and thought he looked great in the limited playing time he saw last year...He really got screwed early in his career when he was forced to play LB, as ridiculous as that was. -
I've been concerned about the O-line since last year, but Glenn is not the reason. He's proven to be an adequate, but not great blocker in ACTUAL GAMES to this point in his career. He has been a monster in the run game though. Hopefully he will only improve. I am however, very concerned about RT, where all of Pears, Hairston, and Zebrie Sanders are hurt. Zebrie has never played in the NFL, and Pears and Hairston have looked shaky at best when they have played. Also of concern, is LG. We also have to cross our fingers that Urbik and Woods can make it through a full season. I was very happy however, that the Bills made no attempt to keep Rinehart, who was absolutely terrible.

Jamarcus Russell Making a Comeback
Turbosrrgood replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This...Kind of surprised people are still talking about him actually. The guy wasn't impressive at LSU (drafted mainly on measurables), he was terrible for the Raiders (had nothing to do with size). The bottom line is that he has never shown anything at any level that makes you think he could be a successful NFL QB. IMO anyway, and that was BEFORE he became a fat syrup addicted blob. The only reason he is even being discussed is because he was foolishly drafted by the Raiders #1 overall. Jared lost a lot of weight on Subway, should we bring him in too? -
Blurring the line between CB and S.
Turbosrrgood replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the first statement but I'm kind of surprised at the Brooks hate considering he was thrust into a prominent role after suffering a significant injury in his rookie season. He was a 4th rounder who played only nickle in college but was forced to start at CB, he was set up for failure as a rookie. My take on him is he is an unknown but has potential (particularly at nickle), I think he might even have more potential than McKelvin as an all around corner. I think the main thing is that CB is actually LESS critical in this defense. In Wanny's scheme it was all about the front 4, and good DB coverage (both disappointed). From what we understand about Pettine's system, this is an unconventional pressure defense using the whole front 7 and probably DB's as well to get pressure. In theory the QB's won't have as much time as they did last year (we said this last year too, I know). I think Gilmore is certainly fine at one CB spot. I think McK will be fine if we get consistent pressure on the QB, if not we've seen what happens to him downfield. Expecting him to miraculously develop ball skills down field would be foolish. With those 2 starting and Brooks, WIlliams, Williams, behind him plus Rogers/Butler and the rest of the group, we are fine depth wise IMO. If we wanted to sign a legit starter to compete with McK I'd be fine with that, but I don't think there is anyone out there at this point.
