Colts Elevate Da'Rick Rogers to the Active Roster
Turbosrrgood replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ahh yes, I misread his statement. In that case I would have kept Rogers over Graham, although I would have kept just about anyone over Graham. Yeah Hogan was far from an ace (as I believe you were saying). Actually Hogan looked terrible at times on ST's, despite a couple of nice plays in the preseason. Rogers may not have been a great ST's option, but it's not like he'd be replacing an ace. Besides, gunners can come from many positions, especially DB's and LB's. -
Colts Elevate Da'Rick Rogers to the Active Roster
Turbosrrgood replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People are getting so defensive over the fact that the Bills didn't keep Rogers, some people are clearly in denial. Rogers has gotten serious playing time on a playoff team, mainly due to injury. He has looked good at times, but hasn't consistently lit it up. He HAS shown solid NFL potential, and it's hard to deny that. The fact of the matter is, the TJ Graham experiment failed, and the Bills were clearly lacking in WR talent this season despite nice showings from Woods and Goodwin (the few times he was healthy. It's hard to make a case that Graham, Hogan or Easley have anything close to the potential of Rogers, especially after what they all showed this year. Will letting go of Rogers make or break the franchise? No (it would be broken anyway). Do the people that didn't want them cut have a solid case? Yes. My opinion is that the Bills kept guys with a very low ceiling on the roster, over a guy with a much higher ceiling. That's my gripe personally. It's tough to say that any roster moves regarding WRs has been good for the Bills recently, considering how bad the WR corp has been. I strongly disagree with the Goodwin part of this statement. Goodwin was a 3rd round pick, and showed a bunch of big play potential when healthy (health is a huge concern though). Graham I agree with 100% (3rd rnd pick by previous administration who sucked in college, and looked even worse in the pros), or Hogan. Graham was an utter disaster, Hogan made virtually no impact as a WR or STer. Easley at least proved his worth on ST's. Obviously there is some hindsight involved here, but similar arguments were made before the season. -
Bills working to keep Moorman [update: signed 1-10-2014]
Turbosrrgood replied to ny33's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why the hell would they do that? Dead last in most punting statistics this year, by far in some cases. But I guess since we signed the worst ST coach in the league last year, that's our new MO. -
That's a joke right? I was surprised Chud was fired after just one year, with a stable of horrible injury prone QB's. The team actually looked pretty good with Hoyer at QB, and Hoyer is far from top NFL talent by any stretch. I'm also surprised the Texans went with O'Brien. The team seemed to be a QB away from being an NFL powerhouse, and now they have a chance to get one. People in the NFL world seem to be enamored with O'Brien, and they obviously know something I don't...But he seems like a big role of the dice to me. Without Kubiak's great running game, and Phillips' strong defense (despite what happened this year), this team seems destined for chaos despite having many very solid pieces.

I'm glad to hear someone else say this, because I've been thinking the same thing...Certainly he seems to throw better than Tebow, but their styles are similar in many ways. I really don't understand the hype with this guy. People fall in love with "prototypical 6-4 230 lb guy with mobility", but this rarely translates into NFL success. Guys like Brees, Rogers, and Wilson are highlighting the league, and Brady and Manning are big, but statues. Bortles has potential, absolutely...But what has he done to suggest he deserve 1st round consideration? Nothing IMO. He has very similar traits to EJ Manuel, without any of the proven production. Bortles should stay in school and prove himself, but if he doesn't he would be a project guy.

What is your EJ Manuel Confidence Level?
Turbosrrgood replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a 35-40% guy at this point. Injuries, inconsisitency, and my general skepticism that the Bills will ever be good again keeps me on the low side until there is proof otherwise. -
Hate to say it..... (QB situation)
Turbosrrgood replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was so hoping to see a post like this. So Thad had an extremely mediocre game, where he started 1-7, threw one nice deep pass (all Woods), 193 yards an INT and no TD's...Now he's the savior? The Bills won because of an amazing defensive performance and Fred Jackson. Thad did a good job not messing up too much. Also, I was amazed that Miami didn't blitz Thad much considering the problems he has had with that (the INT was cased by one of the few blitz plays they ran). -
2014 Draft Defensive Line

You always know a guy is grasping at straws when he abandons his "football" argument and resorts to slurs and taunts. -
For those of you missing Levitre
Turbosrrgood replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is exactly why the FO let him go...Levitre didn't seem worth that contract. Actually I had some gripes about him when he was here, and didn't understand the huge hype train he rode. Levitre is a very good pass blocking G, I'll definitely give him credit for that (he was a OT in college)...but he has always been a little undersized and has NOT been a great run blocker. Bigger DT's have eaten him up his whole career. For a run first team the signing seemed a bit questionable, he seems more suited to spread style pass happy offense (Gailey). Having said that, the Bills should have tried to replace him with someone better than Colin Brown or Legursky (who is still the lines biggest problem). -

Wait...You are so upset at yourself for making a questionable assessment of a player that you are now arguing with yourself? -
Why Does Everyone Love Pettine So Much?
Turbosrrgood replied to Storm Front's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So saying that are better than one of the worst defenses in team history doesn't say much. Sure they are getting sacks and INT's, something they didn't get last year. However they are at the bottom of the league in most other categories. Having Hughes cover deep threat WR's and the best TE in football doesn't help much. Pettine's defense has certainly been more fun to watch, but he has been far from a savior. -
Exactly this ^....Not to mention the fact that Davis has had trouble staying healthy, and hasn't done anything this year (3 catches). How could he possibly be worth anything in a trade?
-
With the glut of QB's now available, I would imagine Tuel will be inactive for much of the rest of the year. They certainly don't seem to actually want him to play. I think they may try to keep him PS eligible using those means, if they keep him on the roster. My guess is he will be active this week, but after that Flynn will probably be the active backup to Thad until EJ returns.
-
Well Marrone specifically said that they kept Tuel on the roster solely to protect him, and that Lewis was really the main backup plan for EJ. Judging by their actions so far, he certainly seemed to be telling the truth. So since the Bills have said as much themselves, I believe that's what they are doing. It also seems to be the best explanation why Tuel is on the roster, but not even being considered to play now.
-
You COULD see that...but the Bills have clearly been unwilling to PS him to this point. I'd be shocked if the Bills have "protected" him this long, only to bail out now. I think it's much more likely that Flynn is cut as soon as EJ is healthy, or possibly earlier. Or perhaps they just keep everyone, although that seems ridiculous to me. Clearly the Bills don't feel a tight squeeze for roster spots, they have shown that all year long by keeping multiple kickers and QB's, as well as keeping injured players on the roster.
-
Ok, I certainly didn't suggest that. I very clearly indicated that I DIDN'T think he would be cut. And no part of my opinion about Tuel was formed during a couple of quarters of backup work against Cleveland.
-
It's amazing the blind support Flynn still gets because of his one fluke game, despite nothing but failure since then. In all likelihood Flynn is on the roster only until EJ is healthy again unless he impresses in practice. Chances are that will not happen, since reports out of both Seattle and Oakland were that Flynn looked terrible in camp and practice, which is why he was supplanted in each situation despite being given every chance to with the job. I'm not sure Tuel deserves to be on the active roster either, but since they have kept him this long, I'd be surprised if they cut him now.
-
Just curious how you determined that Welch has been playing well? The only play of note that I am aware of him being involved in is a failed 4th down conversion attempt as a TE. He was lit up on the offensive line in the preseason.
-
I was wondering the same thing...The thing that really baffles me is the signing of Flynn, a guy who's failure should be proven by now, when we already had these other guys. Technically Dixon is on the practice squad, so there are only 4 QB's on the roster, plus Dixon on the PS, plus Kolb on IR...Pretty hilarious. Still that means there are 4 QB's vying for practice time right now, with EJ watching on the sidelines. Sounds like a mess to me. Training camp has extended half way into the season. Another thing that doesn't make a lot of sense is their explanation of Tuel. They say he HAS to be on the active roster because they are afraid of losing him, yet they think so little of him that they have to try and sign every QB under the sun to be a backup above him....
-
If true, this is nothing other than a smart move. Dixon is an athletic guy who looked pretty good in his brief NFL action. Putting him on the practice squad costs the Bills virtually nothing, however it allows him to practice with the team and learn the plays (This is exactly how they used Thad, and low and behold his will be starting). If Thad/Tuel don't work out or get injured, he could get a look.

TJ Graham should be returning punts tomorrow
Turbosrrgood replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have you ever seen TJ Graham try to catch a pass? He is completely unable to locate a ball and haul it in. The last thing I want to see is TJ muffing punts. I want to see less of him, not more. I wouldn't mind seeing Woods return punts, I'm not sure why he isn't. -
I usually don't like comparisons like this but I have been thinking the same thing myself. I haven't seen this kind of special teams play on the Bills since Tasker. And while Aiken played well on ST's, he wasn't nearly as effective as Easley has been so far. Easley has made the difference on just about every special teams play this year, he's been flat out dominant. Still, I'd rather see him get a shot at WR...Graham is painful lacking the necessary tools, despite his one good play of the season last week.

Simpson busted again.
Turbosrrgood replied to Offside Number 76's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, looking at OJ I'd certainly believe he's stealing cookies...However, keep in mind this was "reported" by the national inquirer, bastions of knowledge and fact. -
Actually Bradham indeed does look worse than Moats...This guy was all hype since he was drafted, but has shown virtually nothing on the field from day one. He is almost always out of position, and has terrible instincts. Moats has defied the odds and stuck around despite changing positions every year in the league. He's actually done a decent job this year all things considered. Benching Bradham was certainly necessary IMO. Bradham is one of these guys that had a cult following before he ever took to the field. However he had some serious red flags going into the draft regarding his concentration and instincts on the field, and so far those pre-draft concerns have been glaring as a pro.
