Good perspective on how good we were last year
ganesh replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
We have to acknowledge that the Bills barely beat a Dolphins team starting their 3rd string QB in the WC round of the playoffs at HOME and then got their snouts kicked by the Bengals. The Bills in the playoffs, were NOT the same team that went 13-3 and it was not due to a flat day in the Divisional round. -
I think they do that next year. They will go with their Vets this year for one more run at the SB

FA Cameron Fleming RT Why don't we go get him?
ganesh replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think they have tried, but not been successful.. They drafted Cody Ford in Round 2 They drafted Spencer Brown in Round 3 They have drafted a bunch of other folks in 4-5-6 rounds Elite linemen are simply NOT available in FA. (the word being Elite). Teams don't let such players hit FA. The only people who hit FA are the likes of Stafford and Quesenbery's. The question is: Is a player ELITE because what he did in college and where he was drafted that makes them successful ? If so, the Bills Coaching staff should be blamed for not making ELITE OL from their draft picks. They have returned zero in *. Tremaine Edmunds *. Ed Oliver *. Groot *. Elam -
I remember the one time McDermott took the play calling during half-time and it showed a different team...I hope we get the same....The main issue is that this team is dependent on generating pass rush by its front-four - Groot, Basham, Epenesa and Oliver. This group has been vastly underwhelming.

I think too many things went wrong last season for Knox to judge him correctly Death of his brother hurt him in the early part of the season Staying back to protect forJL reduced his scope Josh and Dorsey went for the big plays instead of the dink and dunk where Knox thrived. Knox himself had too many drops that he would have liked to take back. I don't now if he h=was carrying any type of injury during the season. The offense definitely needs to go to a dink-and-dunk model and improve on yards after catch. We don't need to keep throwing those low % plays. They are not sustainable

I understand that it is not required to have a star running back. But you have to run the ball effectively in the playoffs to win the Superbowl. In the Bengals playoffs, while Burrow set up the game with TDs on the first two drives, it was their running game behind Mixon and Perrine that stiffled us from getting back into the game. They together put up 140+ yards and a TD.

NFL Network layoffs begin, ESPN layoffs expected
ganesh replied to dpberr's topic in The Stadium Wall
It is really sad to hear this especially when you also hear the previous day that the commissioner is going to get a even bigger check that is much bigger than what the best player in the game earns. -
and so did Cook. We banished him because he fumbled his first pro-snap. This team needs to trust its rookies more

Draft Prospects with Private Meetings with the Bills
ganesh replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
May be Taiwan Jones will not be playing in 2023. -
Also, I think the system does not take into account the median. Teams in the 1st and 2nd round take a lot more risks with QB, DL, WR and CB and draft them in large numbers. For the other positions, they are drafted only if they are sure fire winners. I believe that is why those other positions have a higher success rate...it is just that their sample size in those rounds are much smaller.

How did the Patriots maintain a top team for 17 years?
ganesh replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
An important point to note also is that the rest of the AFC East sucked during that 17 year period (except for the 2 years of Rex Ryan Jets). Brady and the Patriots won the AFC East with ease setting themselves up with good seeding and playing in Foxboro. These are small things but they have a big impact. When the AFC East teams actually competed, they beat up on Brady and the Patriots! -
His speed is amazing. Something our OC did not leverage well last year.

The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team
ganesh replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
How the hell did this team then win 13 games and could have won 2 of the remaining 3 easily. !!!!' McKenzie definitely had bad drops that hurt the team. Davis actually had his best season (statistically) but could have been better. Allen was injured and definitely not his self post the injury. You cannot expect all your backups on defense to become super stars. I agree that the OL was a weakness and could have help Allen better. But it was more of our defense not being able to stop star QBs (heck even a 4th stringer in the playoffs against Miami). -
The Cincy game & its affect on how we view the team
ganesh replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would be good to list what the "Plenty of obvious issues" would be so that we can be objective. I agree that the OL requires the upgrade; so does all teams. The Bengals played 3 backups against us. I mean their talent level would have been below our starters right...but they played lights out...may be the scheme had something to do with it. The team went 13-3 in regular season...but after the Hamlin injury, they had too many things to overcome emotionally... They had an odd year, where they had to dig themselves out of snow to travel to a game, were stuck in Chicago on Christmas and had to fly into Rochester; and the Hamlin injury in Cincinnati. Not to forget that Knox lost his brother at the beginning of the season and their owner went into a real bad medical situation . The entire secondary was decimated at different times and so did the DL. There was also a revolving door at the OL due to injuries. It is hard to overcome so many things in the NFL and the team still finished 13-3 and lost close games to the Jets, Miami and Minnesota, with the Jets game being the only one where I thought they were bullied by the Jets defense. -

Why blame the defense only, I don't think the offense did any justice by scoring FGs in the Red Zone. -
