The RBs success is going to be dependent on our OL. Can Cyrus and McGovern open the necessary holes to take advantage of the bull-rushing of Harris or the Nifty speed of Cook.
-
If the Bills win a SB with. a top-3 offense and Dorsey gets a HC gig, our new OC will be Joe Brady, our QB coach, Agree with that. Last year the offense made too many mistakes in the Red Zone

Colts grant Jonathan Taylor’s request to seek trade
ganesh replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think James Cook's elite speed will force teams to game plan for him, especially with Kincaid on the field at the same time. Just as Beane has heavily invested on RBs, he has also invested on DEs and the results so far all have been poor, Hopefully, Cook and Rosseau will be able to change the narrative. -
I think we will let go off Hyde, Poyer, White, Miller on Defense next year as a salary cap purge to reset. They will have an off year next year and then re-load again in 2025. 2023 should be a fun season. After all the spend they have had on the defense, it is still their weakest link.

They are going to sneak in the Punt God !

I am really concerned how the Special Teams have played in the pre-season games. They have been terrible. We have had wonderful special teams the past several years; But this is not looking like any of that.

What are your top TWO takeaways from the Bills-Steelers game?
ganesh replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
The steelers wanted it more...the Bills were treating it like a meaningless practice game. It would have been good for the 1st team offense to have a TD and get off the field. The Bills defense is still its weak link and that continues to be exposed. This is what happens when you have tied 15+M on the two safety positions. -
Elam was extremely good last year in the playoffs.

Teams play Vanilla without scheming.

THANKS for 25 years of the Stadium Wall, TBD!

And the beginning of the Playoff curse...which finally got snapped 5 seasons ago. -
Is the list based on their pass catching abilities or includes their blocking abilities ?

Where the Bills rank in spending for each position

I think Leonard Floyd and Rosseau will have big impacts. -
Jets and Quinnen Williams agree on 4-year 96 million deal

Star being the best of this example. -
Did we do enough? I think we are getting there.

Agree with you, The Bills have tried to build through the draft and get mid-tier FA except for Morse and Miller (and previously Star), Both Hyde and Poyer were low key signings that have gone on to build a great career with the Bills (and are as good as Bills draftees). We have had good to reasonable success with Dawkins, White, Edmunds, Oliver, Singletary, Knox Warming up for success are Cook, Elam, Groot and Benford, Davis Hoping to have success with Brown, Basham and Epenesa, Shakir Failed heavily with Cody Ford, Moss and several. 4th/5th rounders that did not make the team The key to our SB run will be if Cook, Elam, Groot, Davis and Benford can turn in a super season and Brown, Basham, Shakir and Epenesa can hold their fort. These players have the talent to be super stars in the NFL and this is the year for them to put it all together -
I think people go by how we do in the playoffs... Mahomes beat Burrow and Lawrence Burrow beat Allen and Jackson Lawrence beat Herbert Allen beat the Dolphins 3rd string QB The way we got beat at home by the Bengals sticks a lot in the mind of media...We lost by 17 points at home when we were the favorites. They man handled us at every point in the game. A lot of the blame for that loss goes directly to how Josh played the game (fair or not).

The game was different in the 90s...but in the last twenty years the game is more or less the same..QBs have elevated themselves; starting from Manning brothers, Brady, Big Ben, Rivers, Rodgers have all made it a QB driven league. It is continuing with Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Dak etc. The one missing stat here is the number of Fumbles and fumbles lost. I think Josh has fumbled the ball a lot more than his contemporary QBs (due to the nature of his running game or holding on to the FB to make the big play). It would be good to get that stats.

What the Bills need to do to take the next step
ganesh replied to HaldimandBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have lot of doubts about the DL Coach, Washington. He has been very underwhelming -
I think those small adjustments are the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs.

Agreed. Marino from Locked on Bills had a good theory...Davis was asked to stay back to block (due to the poor OL) and take the short routes. Davis does not have the slot-guys speed nor step to separate from the DB. Allen could never find Davis for the short throws and went more the longer route. This was even observed by Beane and Schoen during the draft. They found him starting slow and then closing fast....you can imply that Davis has no chance as a slot receiver but has the ability to get consistent separation on the long ball.

What the Bills need to do to take the next step

Do remember that the Bengals OL was missing most of their starters for the game and yet they manhandled us on that evening. -
I think this is a problem. Until now, the BIlls have been perceived as a well-run professional organization and that they know what they are doing. That is what helped us get FA such as Miller, Floyd, Ford etc. The handling of this business (or inability to handle) is going to raise eyebrows in the future as to the capabilty of this organization.
