Gailey makes ESPN list of Best Coaches
ganesh replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really...It was so fricking frustrating on all those 3-point losses when Gailey refused to run the ball and kept throwing the ball and Fitz obliged with picks that turned double-digit leads into deficits and ultimately losses.. I am not even going to go on the side of the Defense. -
Prisco's top 50 FAs...15. Paul Posluszny
ganesh replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is an additional aspect to this though...When all things are said and done and a labor deal is stuck, there will be a huge gap between the rich and poor teams and the poor teams will not be able to compete in that environment. The fact that there are less than 9 such teams means the league owners will be able to vote for whatever deal they strike and the Krafts and Jones will get what they want leaving the Browns and Wilsons as door mats...The Bills in this scenario will not be able to strike it against any of these top FAs...Something to keep in mind. -
I thought your question was about TC = Todd Collins and bringing him back to Buffalo to be a backup to Fitz..

Thanks...Being a rookie around here, you probably don't have any idea of the sarcasm button... Having said that...there is a serious concern about the Bills ability to retain its nurtured talent for their 2nd and 3rd contracts...Antowaine Smith, Winfield, Clements, Pat Williams, Fletcher, Peters, etc...and then is also the guys they have drafted high and then not retained them for non-financial reasons....Travis Henry, McGahee, Beast Mode, On the other hand, in the name of so called "leadership" we continue to overpay for mediocre talent such as Chris Kelsay.

KW's agent must be a big buddy of Peter King and Asdam Schefter.....The agent sees his player make the pro-bowl as a Injury replacement...Now is the time to get a good contract done and get a good chunk of upfront money....Let us do the rounds and make these media guys beat the drum....and then the agent speaks in the ear of KW.."Dude, you are not going to win anything in Buffalo....I will speed dial Philly or Dallas and they will make an offer you or the Bills cannot refuse. You get your money and also to play in a big market team and may be to the playoffs and SUperbowl"....and so it goes.... The ghost of Jason Peters is mumbling!!!!

David Hasselhoff is more closer to Marino.

One addition in free agency would make me a happy fan

Why? -
What is more interesting is that in the late 80's and early 90's we actually had 12 rounds of drafting and the UDFA's after that... And Tom Brady was 36 picks from joining this list!

Kurt Warner says NFL players must give back money
ganesh replied to GaryPinC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just like when it used be Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills Vs the Marino Led Dolphins or Vs the John Elway magic Denver Broncos. It is always about the players, especially the star ones. What the NFL must ensure is that these stars are constantly generated and replenished. -

And you need both of them for the good of the NFL. -
Eric Wood vs. Ndamukong Suh video breakdown...
ganesh replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bell's weakness also has been an inability to open holes for the running game. Unless we fix our running game, we are not going anywhere. That was why it was maddening to see Gailey go away from the Running game when it was working. -
I like Gailey, but what was he thinking
ganesh replied to BillsLux's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the more it made sense to deal him on Draft day and not have him take reps in the off season from another player. We also may have got a 3rd round pick for him instead of the crap from Seattle or may be swapped for the equally in-the-dog-house LB from Green Bay. It might have been a win-win situation. -

Not when you blow the game away with those dumb plays. -
Do the Bills go after a WR in Free Agency?
ganesh replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We already have Evans and Parrish as the experienced guys. TJ is not leaving Baltimore and also proved a big flop when he went to Seattle. Braylon Edwards is anything but a team player. He is a "me" player who got shipped out of Cleveland and will not be re-signed in NY (They will re-sign Santonio Holmes). The one person I wouldn't mind signing is Mercedes Lewis. -
Kurt Warner says NFL players must give back money
ganesh replied to GaryPinC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While a Rookie Wage scale is very important, what about contracts given to folks like Albert Haynesworth and the Washington Redskins coming away empty handed for paying a guy close to 50M in guaranteed money. That is equally as bad as the Jamarcus Russell contract. That guaranteed contract is killing the Redskins no matter how you look at it. -
The Pats have a vulnerable pass rush, but have very good players to stop the run (Wilfork). If you just try to run the ball, the Pats will stack the line and stop the run. WE need a balanced offense to move the chains and not have Chan get pass happy and abandon the run when we need it. The biggest problem the past two seasons actually has not been Brady, but our inability to stop the Pats running game and the short game. Two seasons ago, Ben Jarvis had two 100 yard games and guess who it came against. The same last season...Ben Jarvis just crushed us.

You forgot David Nelson who had an outstanding 2nd half and was our best WR. I think Nelson will start ahead of Easley. Nelson is a player with instincts and will overcome his lack of speed.
-
Scrappy....What is in another loss We can consider the game against the Steelers a Tie I just clubbed Center with the Gaurds (Interior Linemen). Same way FB and HB are all RBs. May be TE needs to be separated from WR though folks like Gates and Heap are the "Known" TEs only because they CATCH passes. Also, remember that we are now talking across the NFL not AFC vs NFC, so the competition just doubled. Even @ the DT position, there are the two Williams in Minny, Wilfork in NE, Casey Hampton in Pittsburgh, Ngata in Baltimore, Suh in Detroit. That is already SIX. And when you are the starting NT on the worst run defense in the league, it is hard for Kyle to get many votes.

PFW: Bills hope to give Evans bigger role
ganesh replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You actually nailed it yourself. Lee is a one-trick pony and only play he was good @ was catch the bomb thrown by Losman (Not that, it was bad). When it came to Short Routes and Quick throws, Lee has been found wanting to make those catches and make Yards After Catch (YAC), something that Johnson did consistently last year. I am not a Lee Evans hater, just sick of the excuses being thrown around here for Lee and dreaming that he is a true #1 WR. Last year both statistically and play wise, Johnson was the better player than Evans. Time will tell how good each of them will end up. Inconsistent play and Musical Chair at the QB position affects all the WRs. The same rules applies to all of them. Again, I saw Johnshon being double covered a lot and yet was able to break free. One problem with getting Lee involved in this offense has been the lack of play action. Without a good running game, we have really struggled to add this aspect to our playbook consistently. Without play action (or the time for it), a deep threat like Lee is not a very useful toy and as you say he is primarily forced to be a decoy. The key really comes down to: Can Lee be part of the short and mid-range game...that is where Johnson excelled last year. If we can, then Fitz can definitely get the ball to him, just like how he was able to get to Nelson or Johnson or to even Parrish. I would love to see Evans be part of the short/mid range game and use his explosion to get YAC. I also want to see Evans be a blocker like a Hines Ward. Hines Ward makes his presence felt on the field on every play, even when he is not catching the ball. You want to put fear into your opponents just by your presence. I hope Lee will be able to do that one day for this team. -
It is simple math; there are 32 teams in the league..so on an average you would expect 3 players from each team to get close to the 100...Now the teams @ the top have more than 3 elite/great players and the teams on the doormat are less likely to have 3 elite/great players. And when there is a tie between players from a good team and a bad team, the player in the good team is always going to get the nod. Additionally, the composition of the 100 is probably offense oriented (We are after all a QB driven league). If you did the math based on positions, there are 6 Offensive Positions (QB, WR, RB, TE, OG, OT), 5 Defensive Position (DT, DE, LB, CB, S). That is 9 players per position on the average. You have to look at each player at this position and judge if any of the Bills are in the top 9 in the league @ their position. It will be pretty obvious that we did not have (m)any who fit that criteria. The Bills were a doormat team with a 4-11 record and hence our lone representation.

PFW: Bills hope to give Evans bigger role
ganesh replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought we heard the same story the previous year when T.O was supposed to take all the attention and Evans was to be a free bird...Nothing happened...Evans still had a pathetic season whether it was Edwards at the helm or Fitzpatrick throwing the ball. Stevie production fell off because our running game went further south and Fitz was figured out by the league. -
I hope you are right. The picks from Nix's 1st draft could not get on the field consistently and couldn't contribute on a 4-12 team (for various reasons, that have already been hashed out here on TBD). Only time will tell if the picks from this season will go the same way or have a much better impact on this team and also if those rookies from last season can blossom into starters this season. Fitz is just another version of Holcomb and is not a pro-bowl caliber QB. The key to our success on offense is going to trigger that anemic run game that failed to score TDs. I am also not sold on Edwards as our DC. He is an average LB coach and he can't even get them to play as the best unit on his team. One of the big problems this young team faced last year was the attempt to change to a 3-4 defense during training camp and then abandoning it for a 4-3 during the regular season...It is almost like wasting your off season.
