Sign Roscoe Parrish, he is still looking
ganesh replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But they also need to catch and protect the football. Edwards is horrible with the ball. Except for that one good season in Cleveland, he has sucked. Parrish has speed and makes good catches and thrived in Chan Gailey's offense and on pace for his best year before the injury. The problem may be is that Buddy likes big WRs and Parrish does not fit that mold. All indications point to that Buddy will get his WR in the draft. As another poster said, he will try to figure out if he can sign Marcus McNeil to a decent contract (similar to what Gaither signed with the Chargers) after the emotions of Free Agency is taken out. -
That is a ridiculous Rob Johnsonesque contract for a guy who has played one game.

The Giants proved again and again that you cannot have enough pass rushers. If Upshaw is there and is the best player on their board, they should get him. The only position they are not going to pick with the #10 pick is a QB or RB. I will be happy with a starting LT or a starting DE...I don't think they take a QB this year. We are still a season away from that. Getting a QB with the #1 sends a WRONG message to this team. May be they will be pick some one in the 3th or 4th round.

I believe he will cost the Bills 50M in guaranteed money, of which 22-25 counts against the 1st year of his deal..So his impact on year 2 and 3 would be another 25M plus base bonus. The remaining 50M gets spread out over the next 3 years of the contract (or something close). I think the Bills can take this pretty easily, considering they have Fitz on board for a reasonable deal. The big ones that will strap the bills next season will be their own signings: Levitre, Wood, Jackson, Byrd, Spiller, Chandler, Urbik/ They have to soon decide on what to do with McKelvin.

When Kyle Williams went down with a season ending injury, Dareus was pretty much targeted and double teamed...The other stiffs could neither stop the run or rush the passer from that front four. When the front four cannot block, the LBs cannot shed their blocks and get to the ball carrier.... A healthy Williams and Mario on that front four, our LBs will be much better in getting the penetration into the back field. We needed a game changer on that line and now we have three...

Who's next??? Capitalize on this momentum!!!

With the cards signing Levi brown. It leaves one less option for bell. I hope he will come back and sign a 1 year contract and compete and get the big money next year -
Heard the Vikings are looking to trade J. Allen
ganesh replied to NastyMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Give the guy a break. He has a chance to be the #2 WR here, whereas he has the chance to be the #1 guy there with Jackson out of there and Gates getting old. The Chargers offered him more money than the Bills as they are looking to have him as their #1. It was a win-win situation for Meachem. The only fault with him was to fly to Buffalo first. If I were him, I would have gone to SD. Probably would have got lesser money there if he did that. Cannot fault him for that. -
I hope the signing of Mario by the Bills gives us the same hope when Reggie White signed with the Packers about 20 years ago......And....if we do get Jared Allen...this front 4 will be awesome...

Other FA Signings Compared to Stevie's Deal

And the Bills did their job too. Kudos for both sides to come together and bridge the gap for the good of the team. -
Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
ganesh replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The key is there are no "two quality" players that you can get in the NFL. Last time we did, ended up with two slouches... There is always a possibility for a FA to go bust. At least Williams is a superstar in the league. I don't know if the Bills will be able to sign him today, but the mere fact that they flew him personally into Buffalo, means they are serious about this stuff. -
By the Raiders

if you really want this trade why not the Bills just get Johnson for the 10th overall pick.
-
The offense was ranked 14th last year. We just had too many injuries to starters. The offense will be OK if they can add more depth through FA. The defense in spite of the draft last year still end up in the both quarter of the NFL. While we patched the DT, CB positions, our DEs and LBs still sucked. There was no pass rush or an inability to stop the run. The bills need to solidify that side of the team more so than the offense. Teams that have excellent pass rush and play good defense make it deep into the playoffs...Of course having a Drew Brees or Tom Brady as your QB is an added bonus.
-
Isn't Wimbley a prototype 3-4 LB ? I think the Steelers have need in that area and he will probably sign with them.
-
I wish they could have signed him for 3 years instead of 2. The deals for Rob Gronkowski next year will push the value of the TE position. Chandler has repeatedly shown that he can get separation in the end zone and is a big target for Fitz. If he can improve his play in the middle of the field, he will be a big security blanket. He is a poor mans Antonio Gates. Now to build some depth on that OL with some 2nd tier FAs...and then go Defense all the way in the draft.
-
2nd that...I think the Bills have to think Big picture here. The question is: Will Mario Williams want to sign with Buffalo. He hasn't played in the cold since his NC State days..
-
I don't know if we have a shot at VJ. The guy wanted to be paid #1 WR money, especially like a Top-5 WR...That is a 50M investment. Not sure if we will burn that kind of cash at the WR position after paying for Stevie. I will be happy if we can go after a Robert Meachum. The wild card is going to be to figure out what they are going to do with Roscoe Parrish and the health condition of Easley.
-
Our shot at getting Reggie is pretty slim unless he has no other offers. He is either going to go along with Peyton or probably will go to a SB contending team like the Patriots or the Saints
-
And a scat back at that. The Bills still need starters at several positions including DE, OLB, OL, CB, WR....So they cannot go wrong with any pick @ 10 other than a RB or a Safety.
-
Why would be reach for any of these positions even without any of the above players. We still need a starting LT, starting DE and starting #2 WR. So any pick for those positions will be an automatic starter on this team. There is no reaching. You just pick the best available including a OLB.

The state of the Buffalo Bills
ganesh replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 49ers took risk on one of our own injury prone LT in Jonas Jennings...There is always a market for LTs...They are always at a premium. Teams don't let their young talent (even if injured) leave the building. -
Although Nix Says Free Agency Is Not The Way
ganesh replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mathis is a cover-2 DE....He just doesn't fit the frame of a DE that Buddy and Chan look for in a DE. The Bills are unlikely to go after him. -
The Bills have spent considerable draft picks on the DL. The problem is most of those picks have not panned out... Chris Kelsay was a top half 2nd round pick Poz was a 2nd round pick McCargo cost us a 1st and 2nd round pick Troupe was a 2nd round pick Carrington cost us a 3rd round Dareus was a top 4 pick Sheppard was a 3rd round pick and a few more...The only success from that has been Dareus...

Why We're Heading In The Right Direction
ganesh replied to HuSeYiN1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losing Eric Wood and Fred Jackson was the biggest part of the nose dive for this offense. Without Wood at Center, Fitz had less time to throw and feeling the pressure on his face. Jackson gave the bills a chance to run the ball and control the clock. Once he was gone, that went down the drain.
