The Bills picked McKelvin as he was their BPA on their draft board and look where it got them..Drafting is a crap shoot.

DE Anderson on list of 2012's most overpaid signings
ganesh replied to bourbonboy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nah...He is not playing for the Buffalo Bills, but with the mighty Philadelphia Eagles...It is so awful to hear the pundits describe this as a great signing, when they were crying the past three seasons that the Bills don't have a starting LT. Especially when these guys are on a basketball court or a baseball field. I feel bad for the football and hockey players. They give up so much of their body and don't get paid nearly as much as the guys in the shorts and the guys who constantly spit. -
Why I think we must go OT in the 1st round
ganesh replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good LT can be found in the 2nd and 3rd rounds too. We need to go the Giants way....Add Pass Rush to the team...Another OLB will be great...If not, we really need to get a 2nd WR who can come in and start on day one. There is very limited talent at that position. It is going to be Floyd all the way! We need to stop the Dick Jauron experiment of taking players out of positions....Levitre is our starting LG who can go to the pro bowl and that is where he needs to stay. We need to get true tackles to play at the Tackle position. Give the kid a chance. He did not get a full off season and training camp in his rookie year and did OK. With a good off season and a full training camp, he can improve. After all we have got two scrubs to go on to be starters for the Philadelphia Eagles! -
Discussing Chris Hairston for a minute
ganesh replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What is interesting is how Media portray stuff. When Bell was the starting LT for the Bills, all the pundits said that the Bills have the worst LT in the league and ridiculed the Bills for not getting a LT in the draft. ONce he goes to the Eagles, there is all praise for the same player and how he will be a huge asset to the eagles OL. Ummm Agree. This team is still short on talent and depth on the OL. Also, Urbik and Wood are coming off season ending injuries. This line needs to gel and play like they played the first five games of last season when they gave ZERO sacks. -
Picks 7 through 10 a crap shoot just look at 2006-2011
ganesh replied to shoretalk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are only 5-6 Blue Chip players in the top of a given draft. 7 through 20, most of the players are inter-changeable and get drafted based on needs, fancies of a team. -
Greg Williams ...caught on tape....
ganesh replied to benderbender's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the most insane comment I have seen. Williams is not asking his players to be aggressive. He is asking them to deliberately INJURE opponents by striking their heads and tearing their ACLs. Big difference!. Williams and the NFL may be in great trouble here. I definitely can see a Congressional hearing on this and multiple lawsuits from other players. -
It is the nature of the position. Cleveland, Miami are desperate for a franchise QB (and the Bills to some extent) and they pick in the top 10. Tannehill is the 3rd best QB in this draft. While scouts may project him to be a top 20-32 pick (like a J.P. Losman) and require him to learn the pro-offense (due to his low college experience), QB needy teams are going to take him where their draft slot is. If Miami can trade down to the 15 and pick him up, I am sure they will want to do it. But you may not have a trading partner. The point is simple: QB needy teams in the top 10 that cannot get Luck and RGIII...Hence, they will get Tannehill at their spot (#4 or #8). Tannehill is going to be the key to this draft. If Cleveland picks Tannehill at #4 and Minny picks the LT, the draft could get jumbled for us @ 10.

I believe that in this draft there is a lack of BLUE CHIP TALENT at the Tackle position, but it is a tackle rich draft. The question to answer for the Bills: Is any of the tackles on their draft board better than Bell. If they convince themselves so, then they will draft. The Tackle doesn't have to come from the 1st round. He could be from 2nd or 3rd round too. Bell did not like the contract offer from the Bills so wanted to check out FA. He is entitled to that. The first wave produced nothing, most probably because a) Most of the teams have a starting LT b) Interested teams were not willing to offer him a starter-type 30-40M Contract due to his injury history. Typically in this situation, the player (due to Ego) will never sign back with the Original team (that gives all leverage back to the Bills). Instead, they will go and sign a 1-year incentive based deal to get them another year and then hope for the big contract next year. A desperate team like the Steelers or Eagles will definitely be one of those teams that will rent him for a year.

Bills and Gailey propose a rule change
ganesh replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What...you guys don't want the picture of a man wearing zebra clothes peeking into a dark Monitor screen with his b*** peeking out for the other cameras ? Who will they show as the guy who is making an honest/independent replay...May be if this was done in the booth 12 years ago, they call that forward pass a forward pass and not be worried about a full stadium empyting on him for making the right call....makes too much sense... BTW, Cricket has been doing this for decades...of having a third umpire who refers to replays for all close calls.... -
Sean Payton asks Bill Parcells to serve as interim HC
ganesh replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This whole thing is such a sham.... Peyton Attends the NFL Owners Meeting....Why? Peyton wants to name his interim Coach ...Why ? And Peter King wants Peyton to be a TV broadcaster....and as a side can recoup a big portion of the lost 5.8M dollars. Isn't that a shame... -
CJ and Choice in, Fred out...?
ganesh replied to rick in hartford's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our W/L is not all attributed to the loss of Freddie. Jackson went down in game 9. We were already 5-4 by then. The loss of Wood, Kyle Williams, Jackson and Bell together was far more damaging than anything else. -
The guy has had two freak injuries...It is not as if he pulled a hamstring or calf and cannot train....The guy had a 400lb lineman roll over his leg....Wood will be back at Center and will dominate like he did in the first 8 games of the season. We need to keep consistency on this OL.

Bills will visit with WVA OLB/DE Bruce Irvin also:
ganesh replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like We drafted one a few years ago from Bruce Smiths Alma Mater....Fail to remember the guy...I thought he bounced around and signed wtih the Steelers... -
and somewhere in his brain, i hope he understands that he has the BEST chance to start at LT with the BILLS. I hope he crealizes that abd signs a incentive laden two year contract and prove himself.

Sign Roscoe Parrish, he is still looking
ganesh replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But they also need to catch and protect the football. Edwards is horrible with the ball. Except for that one good season in Cleveland, he has sucked. Parrish has speed and makes good catches and thrived in Chan Gailey's offense and on pace for his best year before the injury. The problem may be is that Buddy likes big WRs and Parrish does not fit that mold. All indications point to that Buddy will get his WR in the draft. As another poster said, he will try to figure out if he can sign Marcus McNeil to a decent contract (similar to what Gaither signed with the Chargers) after the emotions of Free Agency is taken out. -
That is a ridiculous Rob Johnsonesque contract for a guy who has played one game.
-
The Giants proved again and again that you cannot have enough pass rushers. If Upshaw is there and is the best player on their board, they should get him. The only position they are not going to pick with the #10 pick is a QB or RB. I will be happy with a starting LT or a starting DE...I don't think they take a QB this year. We are still a season away from that. Getting a QB with the #1 sends a WRONG message to this team. May be they will be pick some one in the 3th or 4th round.

I believe he will cost the Bills 50M in guaranteed money, of which 22-25 counts against the 1st year of his deal..So his impact on year 2 and 3 would be another 25M plus base bonus. The remaining 50M gets spread out over the next 3 years of the contract (or something close). I think the Bills can take this pretty easily, considering they have Fitz on board for a reasonable deal. The big ones that will strap the bills next season will be their own signings: Levitre, Wood, Jackson, Byrd, Spiller, Chandler, Urbik/ They have to soon decide on what to do with McKelvin.
