  1. That would be the right thing, as I don't see any one going after him.
  2. http://stripehype.com/2013/01/17/afc-north-browns-hire-norv-turner-finalize-coaching-staff/ Good move. Norv has some good toys to play with. Look for Richardson to have a career year. It also keeps Norv away from the NY Jets.
  3. Another former Steeler OC. I feel bad for Ray. May be he gets the DC gig in Philadelphia or Jacksonville.
  4. Chandler is our starting TE and has done very well. Choice is also a decent 3rd string back who can play. I think both of them stay. Fitz - I would love to send him packing. But I think Doug will keep him because there is no options in FA that is a world better than him My cuts would be : WILSON - He sucks at SS. Not sure where Troupe fits in on this DL. Spencer Johnson also may be cut as he may not fit the scheme.
  5. I definitely think the Bills will go after a veteran LB in Free Agency. I wish there would be some team that dumps a good player like we did with Fletcher six seasons ago and he is still playing and even making the Pro Bowl.
  6. Or the tenure of Flutie. For some reason, the Bills players responded to Flutie much better than Rob Johnson.
  7. Why ? I think Marrone has assembled a good defensive staff who were former coaches with the NY Jets. They have been a big proponent of an Attacking defense and I am excited for that. With regards to the Offense, Marrone went with familiarity. I don't see any problem with that. It happens in real life for almost everyone of us. The problem is that many folks on this board and Sullivan want the "Known" names to be hired as coaches. People would be happy if Frank Reich and Alex Van Pelt had been hired as WR and QB coaches and also retained the special teams coordinator. I agree that the new ST coach does not spell confidence considering that his unit allowed a KR/PR for TDs in back to back games. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong here.
  8. And I am yet to see that desire to win in Buffalo since Flutie was booted out of Orchard Park. I still remember the Joy in Bruce Smiths face, when Flutie ran and jump/hugged into the arms of Bruce Smith after a victory (I think it was the win against Jacksonville).
  9. Our pick is going to be Barkley.
  10. The thing is that even if we traded Lynch, we could have just done fine with Freddie and some later round draft choice. I am glad that we have an All-Pro in CJ Spiller in our team, but not addressing the QB situation is simply not acceptable.
  11. That fire, determination and motivation has to start from the top. Your body language goes only as much as what your HC does. Sadly we have not had that here in a long while.
  12. I don't think it is a given that Reid will pick a QB with the 1st overall pick. What happens if he is average and takes us to another mediocre record of 6-10.
  13. This thread is not about if Brady is the greatest QB or if he cheated....It was simply to provide info as to where he was prior to that ill-fated draft (For the Bills). The fact that he has made 2 other super bowls post cheating and is on his way to another one possibly this year shows that he is not your average QB. The phenomenal numbers this guy has put year-in-year-out the past 7-8 years is simply mind boggling. Please give credit where credit is due.
  14. Came across this good article that describes, why even Bellichek chose not to pick Brady in the 5th round, the circumstances surrounding why Brady fell so far out and what was burning inside him. Really nice article. http://nesn.com/2011/04/bill-belichick-cites-red-flag-for-passing-on-tom-brady-in-fifth-round-of-2000-draft/
  15. It should be 59 minutes and 30 seconds They let that game slip way in the last 30 seconds of regulation. Fox did play scared like a Gailey
  16. I think Brandon could have had any one for GM if he wanted to. Whaley himself told at the press conference that NOTHING has been guaranteed to him (as far as GM is concerned) and the only thing he is focused about is his current job.
  17. Like Aaron Maybin...before teams figure him out after a few games!
  18. Byrd may be franchised, but he may sit out for a new contract. That usually doesn't go well when a new coaching staff is in place and requires a lot of learning. This situation can get ugly unless the Bills will make Byrd the highest paid FS in the league. Everyone know that McKelvin sucks as a CB, but is a great KR/PR. It is up to McKelvin to decide if he wants a change of scenery or stay back. Carrington was a beast on special teams, blocking multiple FG attempts. I hope they can negotiate a fair contract with him. Nelson needs to show consistency. I don't think they negotiate his contract this season. Merriman, Moore, Scott and McIntyre are all washed up or average players and can be easily replaced. It is time to bring in new bodies.
  19. How many 5-7th rounder QBs are successful in this league and taken their teams to multiple playoff appearance. From the teams that made the playoffs this year: AFC Brady - 6th Rd Manning - 1st overall pick Flacco - 1st Rd Dalton - 2nd Rd Schaub - 3rd Rd Luck - 1st overall pick NFC Kaepernick - 2nd Rd Rodgers - 1st Rd Wilson - 3rd Rd Ryan - 1st Rd (3rd overall) RGIII - 1st Rd (2nd overall) Ponder - 1st Rd I don't see any 4th to 7th Rounders in that group of QBs except for the immortal Brady. Other successful QBs who did not make it to the playoffs this year: Drew Brees - 2nd rd Ben Roethelisberger - 1st Rd Cutler - 1st Rd Vick - 1st Rd Manning - 1st Rd (1st overall) The bottom feeder teams are at the bottom because they do not have a qualified QB on their team. These include Buffalo, Jax, Jets, KC, Oakland etc. Too early to make this prediction. We still have the Free Agency and the Combine to go. The draft is still 3 1/2 months away.
  20. I just don't see Glenn as a RT in this league. Also, if the Bills are weak at the RT position, why not draft a replacement for that. No. It was the "beard"
  21. For all the talent on that team, Schaub is yet to reach a AFC Conference Title game.....Of course, I think the problem there is the HC. Given the talent on both sides of the ball, there is no reason for this team to choke like this year in year out. I am surprised Kubiak is still milking this team. And Hasselbeck hasn't done too bad in Tennessee either. If the Titans had kept Matt as the starting QB, they would have done better this season. It depends on the market. It is very possible that Reid will go after Flynn to run his version of WCO in Kansas City. The Jets may go after him, if the cost is not very high, but the upside is huge. The more competition for him, the trade value goes up.
  22. And I would rather have the Bills fail miserably by drafting a "reach" QB in the 1st round instead of drafting another set of DBs, who will either suck (McKelvin) or will go on to have an average career with us (Whitner) or sign with another team and do well for them (Winfield, Whitner).
  23. Actually 12 years...Donahoe signed him from Seattle in the 2nd season of GW after they struggled with a bunch of kickers in the 1st year. While coaches have come and gone, regimes have changed, he has been a constant.
  24. And neither did Chan's defense (especially considering that he hired a very inexperienced never-been-a-DC in Edwards to come in and convert a Tampa-2 defense into a 3-4 without a valid Nose tackle on the roster).
