And that's fully what I expect McDermott to be doing. The writing was on the wall for Whaley, hard to know in this situation if McDermott will be Coach/GM type because the front office situation wasn't overly stable. That being said, how McDermott has conducted things this far, I feel pretty comfortable with him making the calls he has.

We have seen first time head coaches like Gase and Quinn get full control over their roster. I can't get enough of the fans acting like mcdermott is the only one who wants control of the roster that makes up the team. Lol, you do realize he went to Pitt as a graduate transfer correct? He completed his alloted amount of college credits to get a degree in three years. This can be achieved through taking college credited courses in highscool,graduating high school early leading to early enrollment to college, summer courses, etc...

There is a Rooney rule for front office as well. Which, I am sorry, but I don't think the rule makes much sense other than being PC at this point. I know it has worked in the past but if a team wants who they want, they will hire who they want regardless of race.

Zay is an absolutely dominate player. Played slot, but had his best statistical season on the outside. They still put him in the slot and honestly, if Dennison can find ways to move him around, the match ups will be headaches for opposing coaches. I am not a big Holmes fan as some others, but just thinking of what the redzone packages could look like, def like what I am seeing.

The injury guarante that comes with the fifth year option I see being scary for buffalo. Especially consider it would cost roughly 13 million. I wanted Watkins to succeed, but fact is, the new regime here didn't draft Sammy and aren't responsible for the picks used to acquire him. If the powers that be feel they can allocate that money to a healthier player down the line and construct the roster accordingly... so be it. That being said, absolutely nothing wrong with working on a deal with the kid if he does remain healthy and finally lives up to potential.

Because you are telling me they only put big bodies on the outside. When I brought up Curtis Samuel said he drafted to be their slot cause they like their big guys on the outside... Zay Jones isn't small and I haven't seen anyone project Jones to be a slot guy without having not panned out on the outside. More over you are helping my case by saying we have added players similar your made up knowledge of how Beane values players.

I could be wrong, but I can't help but get a strong feeling these UDFA will get a serious look. Not saying they haven't in the past, but mcdermott seems serious about positions being up for grabs.
