  1. Listen, I understand everyone had a friend in X field that knows more than the average joe. Not trying to be a jerk, and I'm not saying you don't know someone. But from the draft, to FA, to hirings and firings, everyone on these boards seem to know someone, thus making the point so much more valid. Just because you friend is so admit that Taylor got the better end of the deal, doesnt mean I change my stance that. - Players in this league prefer security. Rookies typically play for their next contract. Very rare case the 28 year old marginal starter is setting him self up for that big pay day at 30. Franchise QBs are locked up for term, very rarely are they not. For every one QB betting on themselves there are 10 others taking the longevity. -Especially coming off of a recent surgery. Also his style lends it self to injury, freak injury or not, the horse collar ended up sidelining him for two weeks two year ago, for example. Among other nagging injuries a running QB like him self will endure, and again not overly marketable when you are 30 and your best attitude is you legs. -Also can't ignore the fact, Tyrod him self said his agent had informal meetings at combine. They clearly didn't like what they heard, seeing as how the restructure was done, with both sides admitting it was pretty rapid. Wasn't like both sides were working so hard towards making this work. Buffalo was not going to pick up his option at that price. Mock all you want, but they were kicking tires on othe QBs as contingency plans. Hence, the interest in Hoyer. Not to say Hoyer was the better option, but Buffalo was lining up a plan B if Tyrod didn't restructure.
  2. After what they invested in Goff? You envision the Rams moving on that quickly? I have said in the past the new CBA allows teams to move on from QBs pretty quickly, but I think they will give Goff a little more time.
  3. So you crossed out buffalo and replaced it with Whaley? Makes zero sense but okay
  4. People seem to forget, if Karlos never pulled his nonsense, we would have never heard of TD Mike. The guy was on the street when we scooped him. I feel like some act as if TD Mike was a high dragt pick we won't ever be able to replace.
  5. Where are you getting your numbers? There will be 19 QBS who are paid more than Tyrod. Would have been 20 had Romo not retired. Other than guys on rookie deals, there isn't a true starting QB being paid less. Unless you count Glennon. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/quarterback/
  6. I have the misfortune of seeing Panthers games, and the guy never ever earned the trust of the coaches. For every play he made there was two or three blown coverages/assignments. For a team that needs help at safety to waive him...
  7. I hope so, I don't want the guy at all.
  8. Exactly... https://www.google.com/amp/billswire.usatoday.com/2017/03/14/buffalo-bills-tyrod-taylor-contract-pay-cut/amp/
  9. A part of me has to wonder if this has anything to do with buffalo not taking Howard, more so then them looking and seeing who is already at the position for us.
  10. Very possible Tyrod would have made out on the open market, yet his agent who met it teams at the combine didnt like we heard. The meeting were informal, but still, Tyrod went from not willing to restructure to all of a sudden being willing? Furthermore, there was rumours we were looking heavily into Hoyer if Tyrod didn't restructure. Again, a lot of hearsay and speculation, but can't discount the fact this deal is better for Buffalo than fot Taylor. Buffalo is showing an utter lack of faith, and Tyrod apparently didn't like what he heard the market would be... so taking a deal with little insurance on his end... sure he could be a FA sooner, but injuries among other things can happen.
  11. Listen, I tolerated people claiming Craig Nall or Gibran Hamdan would/should be the starter. There are some strange folks out there. A large part of that has to do with not having a Franchise QB since Kelly.
  12. And yet, the alternative to taking the new deal was be cut... I mean he's clearly betting on him self, because Buffalo can walk away just as easy if not easier with the new deal.
  13. Based on what exactly? Because, to date, Watkins is a bust.
  14. Just to play devils advocate here, you are basing your argument on a PROJECTED depth chart before any actual football is played. I'm not saying Peterman will win the job,I am however curious as to how you could jump the gun ao quickly.
  15. If you ask me, LB and DE opposite of Shaq are bigger holes. Considering Hughes has had back to back down years. Clay has not been utilized correctly. Not saying the guy is a world beater, but with more competent QB play, I think we see better production out of Clay. I still would love to add Barn' but I don't think it's our biggest hole.
  16. My fault, it wouldn't be scot-free, but would be substantially less of a cap hit.
  17. It's silly but to juse skim through and make an argument based on half analysed stats. There are more than enough people that will piggy back off that in their own arguments. Being top 15 is different than not being top 15. Believe me, there is a reason why he was told take a pay cut or there is the door. People keep acting like Tyrod lead this team when in actually he really is a bottom half of the league QB, and last time I checked you are either moving on from those types, or they are young players still developing.
  18. No he isn't top 15. Tyalor has 23 combined TDs. That ties him wit Bortles and Dak who have 23 through the air. Not counting their rushing TDs as well.
  19. Not looking good? Because Rivera said he wasn't happy with his weight? Meanwhile he shows up now improved? Where are you hearing this? The Charlotte Observer? KB has had weight issues since back at FSU, this is nothing new.
  20. That's what you love? Why is anyone anywhere using the Pro Bowl as a measuring stick? For anything? The Pro Bowl has been a joke for a long time now.
  21. I haven't heard anything to that effect outside of when he was drafted if that is where he'd have the most success. Rivera recently denied the KB's weight claims of being 280... and supposedly he looks in better shape now.
  22. That is beyond my reach, I tend not to answer for other posters. Just don't see there being a way to be an apologist for a guy who has yet to coach a game. Everything going on behind closed doors, unless in those rooms and/or in those meetings is pure speculation. We do know that, while Whaley was basically one foot out the door, they tried to make it work and see if they could build a business relationship. For all we know Whaley valued Mike in that regard and McDermott didn't agree. Whaley pulled that trigger and ultimately being a driving force between the two. Again, everything is pure speculation at this point.
  23. To be fair, most second interviews are an indication that candidiate is getting the job. It's more common of a practice beyond the Pegulas. That being said, you can't please all the people all the time. If we just handed the job to beane, there would be a lot more grief. Like another poster had pointed out, this is a good learning experience for Buffalo. Pick the minds of other nfl teams personnel to see how they conduct business. Even if they don't intend to hire the person, getting intel is never a bad thing.
  24. A lot of strange things can happen in the course of an NFL season. Let's say for instance, the Rams have another down year and end up with the first overall pick, are they taking a QB? What happens if say, Winston gets hurt and the Buccs go 2-14 and have the first overall pick, are they taking a QB? What if Kizer comes in midway through a very dissapointing Browns season, shows a lot of promise, and the still end up with the worst record, are they going to take a QB? I understand the forgone conclusion is that the worst team will not trade out, but without knowing who the worst team will be it's hard to make that call. Furthermore, as much as i like the top guys, sometimes they aren't always the best in the class. We all know Darnold Rosen Allen Yet, as other posters, my self included have pointed out. Rudolph Falk Browning Stidham, etc... Are all guys where a GM can cut his teeth in this league by evaluating beyond the top blue chip guys.
