  1. Sometimes it does. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/officer-who-accused-mcdonald-s-workers-taking-bite-his-sandwich-n1035796 Case closed.
  2. https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/radiolab/episodes/football Both podcasts are interesting but the Ghosts of Football Future touches on the decline in interest among the younger generation. E-Sports/video games is pointed to again and again as a leading cause of waning participation by youth coaches. There are more options for entertainment today. Less kids playing football and other sports means less interest in the pro game.
  3. Looks like the fastest way to get removed from the police force isn't through misconduct, its through blowing the whistle on another officer's misconduct.
  4. I think we should still count the 80s and OJ's contribution to cinema.
  5. Name ONE political Rage Against the Machine song. Just one.
  6. Right on Scott! Politics has no place in music!
  7. What do you do for a living?
  8. Says the guy who makes things personal with me and then gets butthurt when I respond? Your victim act is old. If you're getting off on this I demand financial compensation!
  9. No one is dismissing the importance of the flag and I have NEVER said the flag is a symbol of injustice. This is a strawman argument created by you to prove god knows what. Its a similar strawman that was used to dismiss Kaepernick. If you can label his protest "disrespectful to the flag" it can be summarily dismissed. Good luck proving the act of kneeling during the anthem is inherently disrespectful to the flag. And its not just the typo. Its the whole semantics of your statement. What is the "it" in your opening sentence because if its the same "it" as in the post you quoted, you're referring to the talking point of "disrespecting the flag" which makes no sense. If the "it" is the flag, then your post still makes no sense. To summarize, you have a total non-sequitur, a strawman, and a conclusion of a double standard on someone's part. Pure gibberish.
  10. It proves about as much as this gibberish: I've read this 30 times and it still makes no sense. At least it was funny before you edited "simple" to "symbol".
  11. Nice cop out, Bill. Why don't you stick to crusading about defensive backs and diagnosing strangers with mental illness for having the audacity to protest. Here are some original thoughts for you: "I support the flag", "I support our police", and "I support the troops". I bet that gives you a semi. Drink it up, Bill. Drink it up!
  12. Everyone has the right to be wildly incorrect. I don't know why so many choose to exercise it. You're welcome to argue why kneeling during the anthem is inherently disrespectful. You're welcome to argue Kaepernick's intent was to disrespect the flag. You're welcome to argue why the Green Beret who recommended kneeling as a respectful form of protest is wrong and hates America and all that it stands for but you won't be anymore successful than all of the people who tried the same in this thread.
  13. Shut up and dribble! I don't think anyone should be commenting on things outside of their sphere. Athletes and sportswriters should stick to sports. Drs should stick to medicine. Scientists should stick to whatever it is they do or "science". The only people who should voice opinions on politics and participate in our democracy are politicians.
  14. "Respecting the flag" continues to be an empty talking point which was invented and used to avoid uncomfortable discussion for the actual reasons of Kaepernick's protest.
  15. I don't think you could have been more off base if you tried. Comparing OJ's HoF bust to statues commemorating confederate generals or slave traders is asinine, for starters. OJ isn't a symbol of oppression and institutional racism. Hes a football player who allegedly murdered 2 people in a jealous rage. The OJ Simpson trial was racially charged from the start following the Rodney King beating, the acquittal of 2 of the 3 officers involved, and the subsequent riots in LA. The not guilty verdict for OJ was viewed as a win by many Americans after what they viewed as a miscarriage of justice in the King trial. To this day, opinions on OJ's innocence differ significantly between black and white Americans, albeit not nearly as much as in 1995. https://fivethirtyeight.com/videos/most-black-people-now-think-oj-simpson-was-guilty/ Using the George Floyd protests as an opportunity to remove OJ from the wall of fame and hall of fame in the name of justice is just dumb.
  16. https://www.tmz.com/2020/06/07/missouri-cop-hits-man-unmarked-car-detain-police-brutality-doorbell-cam/ Here's another video the media is just starting to circulate. This incident took place about 5 miles from Fergusion, MO. The suspect only suffered an ankle injury surprisingly enough. More liberal protests are likely.
  17. Are you suggesting Fromm should run for president?
  18. People assume all personnel moves are driven by culture now. The simple math of having a strong roster is there will be annual churn.
  19. Drew Brees has cultivated the image of an awesome stand up guy through first class public relations work. Celebrities are no different than you or I. Just because we watch them every Sunday does not mean we know them at all. It had nothing to do about culture fit. Buffalo did not want to pay them what they were getting in the FA market. I don't think either player will be missed much with Addison in the lineup and Oliver/Phillips taking more snaps.
  20. They lasted nine months. Thousands of injuries, thousands of arrests, allegations that the police were kidnapping and murdering protesters. You had mobs of pro-government anti-protesters who were allegedly Triads, cops in plain clothes, and paid thugs assaulting the protesters. It was basically a pitched battle in the streets between civilians and cops at points which is why there was international outrage and condemnation from the way China handled the protest. I would encourage you to revisit https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hongkong-protests-timeline/timeline-key-dates-in-hong-kongs-anti-government-protests-idUSKBN1XL0N3 https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/28/world/asia/hong-kong-protest-photos.html
  21. Hong Kong was anything but peaceful.
  22. Illegitimate or invalid is a bit of an exaggeration on my part, but if you look at the attitudes expressed and the fact that this discussion (before there even was a single protester in the streets) was lumped into a thread titled "Liberal Protests" I think you'll find the issue underlying the protest has tepid support. I don't know if you've taken the temperature in here lately but I don't think Liberal is used positively very often. Tells you a little bit about the bias here. Page 356 has a few sterling examples where the reason for the protest is completely dismissed. Page 291 has the insinuation that is was a false flag and the rioting was all premeditated. Right at the start page 206, Never fail to take advantage of a tragedy. Page 216, pre-planned protests and rioting. Page 213 "Funny how there are no riots when one black person kills another black person on the street. Am I to assume that murdering black people is OK as long as another black person without a uniform does it? These guys should have bee protesting like this when all the jobs were getting shipped over seas." It doesn't take much reading between the lines to surmise what these people think about the issues. We have seen plenty of legitimate and informed discussion around the facts of whether black men are disproportionately killed by the police. Some in this thread do not think the protesters have much of a gripe based on facts and stats. Then you have the crazies in this forum who operate with impunity and post about false flags. PPP needs to eat their own like the old days. Bring back DC Tom and even that insufferable blowhard OCBills. In any event, the difference between the Hong Kong thread and this thread are striking (which was my whole point) and the law and order folks can't claim this is all about rioting, violence against cops, or property destruction. I believe the participants on this board have more sympathy for the citizens of Hong Kong than they do for their fellow Americans marching in streets and I think that has to do with the governments being protested and general views that BLM, police brutality, inequality, and injustice are a media creation.
  23. He did. Doesn't that imply that he believes the protest to be of questionable merit? If you don't believe the people have a real gripe, if you believe the stats/facts do not support their argument, it would definitely explain the difference between reactions to protests at home and protests abroad.
  24. I am not but thanks. I'll say it again: rioting bad, looting bad. I hereby condemn rioting and looting to the maximum in accordance with the highest standards of the board as established by Magox.
  25. Of course they have the right to protest. You can protest anything. Doesn't mean the fine people here believe the protesters have a legit case and many do not. How many times have I read in this forum "Chauvin was arrested. What are they even protesting?". Yes, there was considerable doubt that these officers would face any repercussions. Yes, rioting is bad. Looting is bad. I don't think I have seen anyone argue otherwise and if people have, they are wrong. You literally just said they feel injustice but they're perceptions are inaccurate, did you not? How is that different than "they have a right to protest but have no case"? Shouldn't you be scouring the internet for more beat down porn? Google purple hair liberal gets pwned and tell us what comes up.
