The problem with losing TOP as badly as we were in the first half is that the Colts ran 18 more plays and had one more drive than us. A big part of that was our total ineptitude on 3rd down as an offense. That is my biggest concern. Bills were the best team in the league on 3rd down conversions in the regular season and went 2-9 on 3rd against the Colts. If we sustain a few more drives we might not have been starting drives inside our own 10, might have scored some more points, and forced Indy into pass mode where our secondary can make plays.

I thought the in game officials did a pretty good job Saturday. They could have put any of the Gabe Davis sideline catches under the microscope and failed to see a sliver of green grass between his shoe and the side line but maintained the call on the field. I thought the camera angles on the field showed that Poyer had not yet touched Pascal down before that knee came back up off the ground but I suppose there is a chance that a defender made contact with Pascal at some point. This is how the replay rule was originally meant to be handled. A means to overturn obvious wrongs that any guy on a bar stool could see the replay and know whether the call was correct or not. The Pascal fumble took minutes to review. As written, that call should stand. However, the replay rule has NEVER been administered as originally intended and NFL officials have consistently adjudicated on fractions of a second and millimeters. If that same play happens in week 3, its a fumble. Much like during last year's officiated debacle in our wild card round, I have to ask what is up with these crews establishing new precedent in the course of the game?

Its telling that I left the game thinking he played only pretty good. It clearly was not his best performance and the offense struggled to sustain drives. But a "pretty good" day for him is 300 yards, 3 TDs, and luckily zero turnovers. If our run game could pick up 3rd and short that game would have been out of reach in my opinion.

Those were the only 300 yard passing games the Ravens gave up all year so they look like aberrations*. Also, the Chiefs and Browns ran for over 100 yards in those games. The Rams and 49ers are also top passing defenses. We gained more air yards on them than any team this season. We were only the 7th highest in passing yards vs. Picksburgh. I don't know what any of this means but thought it was intersting. *Stat from pro football reference for passing yards allowed includes sack yardage. Interestingly enough, these numbers do not tie to the offensive totals per PFR. If there is a type of snow that slows down Jackson without slowing down Diggs, Beasley, Brown, TreDavious, Edmunds, Milano, Hyde, Poyer, Wallace, Roberts, Taron, Singletary, and Knox then I'm all for it.

If theres a matchup for a big WR I would hope Gabe Davis gets the nod. He has lined up all over the field. If Duke is on the field, I only want him blocking for Brown on that 'Gold Rip' screen play they have run so well this year.

Have we even seen Williams in pass protection? For that reason alone I wouldn't risk it. Moss and Singletary have both been great in protection all year. This is a pass first team. First priority for any RB seeing the field is pick up the blitz on passing downs. If they happen to gain a few yards, bonus.

EDGE has the most potential to affect a game outside QB but there are so few great pass rushers in the game at any given time that its hard to say that EDGE is critical. I think an argument can be made for WR. Look at how a Deandre or Diggs can change an offense. LT seems like a nice pick but a great LT only means so much if there is a weak link somewhere else on the line. Its an interesting discussion for sure.

Running up the score usually isn't a problem when a team is playing a win and in game. Fins fans should be embarrassed that in the biggest game of Flores head coaching career, the biggest game of Tua's career, with the playoffs on the line, against an opponent primarily motivated with getting out of the game without injuries, they were thoroughly abused in all three phases of the game. Looks like their morale was gone without Fitzy available for a second half bailout.
