Rambling thoughts on last nights game: Hall was the best player on the ice in blue. He was all over the place making things happen. He and Olofsson show some real chemistry with the PP and extra attacker. Despite his efforts, top line really struggled to get much of anything going until the 3rd when the Caps were hanging back and defending the lead. Staal line was the only line to generate some sustained pressure in the offensive zone through the first two periods but generated only one or two scoring chances from it. Defensive breakdowns were the story of the game in my opinion. Montour went fishing on the first goal and let his man go through free for a 2 on 1 ten feet from the net. Oshie had a free path to the crease on the PP goal. Carlson basically has a breakaway after a turnover in the neutral zone. Then there is Staal's gift to Vrana. Dahlin plus a bouncing puck = scoring opportunity. Tough to blame Hutton. Maybe the wrist shot from the blue line which had eyes through the traffic and the rebound that was left for Oshie? I like Rieder's energy. At least let Skinner play with Rieder. I don't think Cozens is ready for the NHL.

Key to beating the Ravens- beating the blitz

Two of Baltimore's CBs were injured in that game which may account for some of that second half scoring. -
Unfortunately, the season starts in January this year which has historically been a month where the team crashes back down to the bottom of the division after a surprisingly hot start. But we have some new pieces and promising young rookies in the lineup who know nothing about our culture of losing and Ristolainen has a crazy new haircut so nothing would surprise me in a pandemic season. Over/under - 1.5 goals scored tonight 10 mins of TOI for Skinner 2.5 goals allowed

Maybe now that Hutton isn't as blind he won't ***** his pants as much.

Roberts inactive this week is my prediction...

I agree 100%. I think Allen will be on a short leash this Saturday too. He has never won a divisional round playoff game. If he looks nervous early, i think we will see Barkley play the first half. -

After watching Peterman start the season?.....No. -
https://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/ralph-krueger-confident-jeff-skinner-will-bounce-back-for-sabres/ Reading between the lines it sounds like: 1. Skinner wasn't buying into the Krueger system of play 2. Ralph is trying to roll 3 lines that have some threat of scoring
-
I really don't understand that rumor because Reinhart is atrocious defensively and Jack is no saint. Rino has zero back check. Zero. On a team that is starved for scoring and plays miserable team defense one might think there is room for Skinner. Glad to see Tage is developing. He had better score 20 plus goals on the top line.

I think Olofsson brings next to nothing to 5 on 5 play. This Skinner deal will go down as an absolute disaster unless Krueger can get something out of him. I find it hard to believe that one of the league's best scorers the past few years just forgot how to play.

What little I have seen of Lamar this season always includes comically bad misses. The type of misses that go viral in 2 minutes if its Josh Allen. He hits a few home runs every game and that's the part that concerns me but man does he leave points on the field. Hoping the latter continues Saturday night.

The problem with losing TOP as badly as we were in the first half is that the Colts ran 18 more plays and had one more drive than us. A big part of that was our total ineptitude on 3rd down as an offense. That is my biggest concern. Bills were the best team in the league on 3rd down conversions in the regular season and went 2-9 on 3rd against the Colts. If we sustain a few more drives we might not have been starting drives inside our own 10, might have scored some more points, and forced Indy into pass mode where our secondary can make plays.

The colts fumble that was not called
Jauronimo replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the in game officials did a pretty good job Saturday. They could have put any of the Gabe Davis sideline catches under the microscope and failed to see a sliver of green grass between his shoe and the side line but maintained the call on the field. I thought the camera angles on the field showed that Poyer had not yet touched Pascal down before that knee came back up off the ground but I suppose there is a chance that a defender made contact with Pascal at some point. This is how the replay rule was originally meant to be handled. A means to overturn obvious wrongs that any guy on a bar stool could see the replay and know whether the call was correct or not. The Pascal fumble took minutes to review. As written, that call should stand. However, the replay rule has NEVER been administered as originally intended and NFL officials have consistently adjudicated on fractions of a second and millimeters. If that same play happens in week 3, its a fumble. Much like during last year's officiated debacle in our wild card round, I have to ask what is up with these crews establishing new precedent in the course of the game?
