Then he hits me with the broadbrush statement, "Made in Germany... you know the German's make good stuff." Any commercial with Billy Mays in it, Oxy-Clean, Kaboom, Mighty Putty, etc.... Dammit quit yelling at me all the time you fuggin d-bag!! Freecreditreport commercial. It took me 1:47 to watch that and then 27 minutes to figure out what the hell it was I just saw. I watched it two or three times and it's both hilarious and deeply disturbing... especially the girl(?)... let's just call it a "Pat" at the end that started screaming, because it "needed to."

He's a guy who used to post here, he goes away to the Lost Island from time to time. Most recently was when he got some "girlfriend from Niagara Falls" and we didn't see him from the Bills/Philly game until mid February. Phil? Of of the "doctor" variety? I get it! Good one!

Wow, I actually remember that line. I think I have the yellowed paper in my basement somewhere. I was in bed sick during that game. I was running an really high temp and I remember my family thinking it my be meningitis. It wasn't, but I remember dozing in and out throughout the game hearing Van going nuts over and over. You know how when you're running a high fever things seem kind of surreal or strange and confusing. I remember Monday morning asking for the paper because I couldn't believe the Bills hung 51 points on 'em. I missed half the week of Super Bowl ramp-up which really sucked.

Probably will involve some German Dominatrix or something I suspect. Oh you mean in the football game? Lee Evans 15 yard TD pass to Trent Edwards...

Mrs Bullpen and I were discussing that when we watched this weekend. Going back to the early 90s you could almost see the sketches (not of the Soland variety) getting progressively worse somewhere after the first act by the musical guest or 45 minutes in, whichever came first. Weekend update is mildly funny, but I seem to remember less low-brow humor in this segment in years past. Now it seems like they pander to the dumb-azz and go for the lowest common denominator when it comes to humor in the weekend update. Commercial spoofs used to be REALLY good back in the day, sometimes you had to wonder if it was a real spot until they delivered the punchline. (wow, I must be channeling Cincy today, talking about how good things used to be in the "good ol days.")

Agree with VOR, Fey is hotter, but not by a lot. Fey hit that "upper midwest" accent absolutely perfect. Had all her mannerisms down pat. A couple times I had to remind myself that it was wasn't Sarah Palin. You're right Buckeyemike, won't be long before it's removed from Youtube though.

Hammered, you have no idea how bad it is out here. It's seriously a God-given right that the "original Nike-whores" win. Every Monday, I have to hear at least once "How 'bout those Broncos" from someone. I look at these myopes, shake my head and tell say "I remember when I was five years old and the NFL was just a Sunday TV show." Worst fans ever out here, seriously.

It's really funny because the villagers (at least where I was) were already gathering wood to light and storm the castle had the refs not GIVEN them the win. I'm telling you in front-runner town west (Bahstin of course being front-runner town east) they will turn on someone faster than you can say Brian Griese and Jake Plummer (need an example look at the Nuggets, Rockies or Avs).

Obviously I don't expect the local media to admit that it was a "gift" but they act like this is just another routine win for "the original Nike whores." They make no mention of there possibly being any controversial calls. They just glide right over it, like it never happened. And of course the front-runners just keep believing a Broncos win is a God-given right. Oh yeah and then there's this, which I pointed out to the guys I was watching the game with: Shannahan = Shula from the 1970s and 80s. (someone has nake photos of someone on the officiating/rules commitee)

In all honesty, I seriously doubt either had their moms going to bat for them. If I'm a journalist and I can get the same cliche ridden quote from either athlete am I going to go that route... or am I going to go the much less media-savvy mother and see if I can get her to make some emotionally-wrought statements?
