I think that stat they just showed during tonight's game was impressive in Warner's favor. Warner has the highest % of starts with 300-yard passing games - 45% #2 is Dan Fouts with 28 %

Isn't the shotgun used more as an absolute pass play? Yeah, usually - unless you're the Florida Gators or running the "Wildcat." Going shotgun and throwing a lot is only a problem when you are devoid of weapons. You need two good WRs, a pass-catching TE, and a pass-catching RB. The Bills are lacking a couple of those to be passing so much.

It would be a SHOCKER if Lynch was benched for Jackson. Come on. It would be outrageous. I seriously doubt that Jackson has the type of body able to sustain 25 carries per game. He's a change of pace running back, a solid #2 behind Lynch. Lynch is good, not top 5 in the league good yet but definitely close to top 10.

It will be interesting to see how well WR Chris Chambers comes back (if at all) and the coverage on TE Antonio Gates. And will WR Lee Evans be able to get open often against CBs Quentin Jammer / Antonio Cromartie?

Romo's biggest weakness is that he can't scramble out of trouble to find receivers. When he has protection and finds someone open quick, his accuracy deep can be lethal. But when the pocket breaks down, he lacks awareness of where he is and runs right into a sack often. Note - Just reported - Romo is out 4 weeks with a broken pinkie.

I agree with your points on Davis, but no TE has ever thrived under Mike Martz. And the 49ers have a different QB who is relying on his veteran WR Ike Bruce, along with WRs Arnez Battle, Bryant Johnson, and pass-catching RB Frank Gore. I'm sure Davis will get more opportunities this season to be involved in the offense - the 49ers have invested too heavily in him not to. Now, this point needs some clarifying: "Leave it up to Mike Martz to waste a guy's talent (see Marshall Faulk with the Rams)" Faulk's talent was wasted? I guess a running back catching 80+ balls for four consecutive years ('99-'02), rushing for 1300+ yards in 3 of those years and scoring 69 touchdowns plus winning a Super Bowl isn't good enough for you? Certainly Faulk's numbers took a dive when he was injured (missed parts or all of 6 games in '02, 5 games in '03), and the wheels came off the Rams' Ferrari when Kurt Warner became badly injured to start the '02 season (3 TD, 11 INT, 0-6 record), getting replaced by Marc Bulger in Week 7. But you have to realize that very few RBs can continue to play at such a high level for 5+ years. For several of the Rams' glory years, Faulk was by far the most versatile and best running back in the NFL.

Always liked PPR in my league. But we also give .25 for running back carries, which rewards the workhorses as well. Pass completions are .20. Minus 2 for fumbles and INTs. 6 for all TDs. Yardage is 50 per point for passing, 20 rushing, 16 receiving and 25 on return yards. It gets interesting with 14 teams starting 2 QBs, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K and 8 Individual Defensive Players (IDP). Top 5 offensive players last year were Brady, Tomlinson, Romo, Westbrook and Moss, so it’s a good mix. On D we start two DBs, four DL or LB, and two more of either type. I would really like to see Yahoo! distinguish more on the IDP side so we could configure it better - where you had to start a DT, a DE, a corner, a safety, etc - but Yahoo! is not a good format for this. I want to put in a plug for IDP here. If you've never had it in your league, trust me, try it once - I GUARANTEE you'll love it and never go back to "team defense." I can't tell you how enjoyable it is to watch Patrick Willis rack up 1 point every time he makes a solo tackle for my team in addition to all of the other stats going on. Plus on defense we also get 0.5 points for assisted tackles, 3.0 for sacks and INTs, 2.0 for forced fumbles, fumble recoveries, blocked kicks and safeties, and 1.0 for passes defended (a defender getting his hand on the ball). Of course, 6 for defensive TDs as well. A good defender in this league can be more valuable than a #2 WR. It brings back the "defense wins championships" quote because it's true when you have 8 guys notching stats on defense and 8 on offense along with a kicker. You know all of the good offensive players. A small number of free agents will put up good years. But defensive gems are constantly out there on a week-to-week basis, and the opponent matchup is often crucial. A guy like Terrence McGee was pure gold for years because of his status as a starting corner and a kick return specialist. Too bad for the owner that drafted him this year; he's hurt and seems to have lost his return duties. Only 4 bench spots so there is NO hoarding. Every starting QB in the league is rostered, including many backups. During heavy bye weeks a few teams have to start a blank because they can't drop anybody, which makes it even more cut-throat. A very good week is about 200 points, and many matchups are decided by 5 points or less. It's sweet.

Born in '71. I remember the Bills making the playoffs in '80 under Knox because everyone in WNY was excited about it. In the AFC Divisional Playoffs, the game was in San Diego and Buffalo was up on the Chargers 14-3 at halftime. But the Bills were shut-out in the 2nd half and the Chargers scored 17 unanswered to win 20-14. Joe Ferguson was pretty awful, getting picked off multiple times. Dan Fouts passed for over 300 yards and threw a late 50-yard bomb to a guy named Ron B. Smith to seal it. Tough loss, but not bad considering the team they were up against - the Coryell offense featured Fouts, John Jefferson, Charlie Joiner and Kellen Winslow - 3 future HOFers and a 1st-team All-Pro in Jefferson. The next year, I moved to San Francisco and fortuitously watched the 49ers win 13 regular season games and their first Super Bowl.

I could agree with Winfield at this time because the Vikes' normal MVP, middle linebacker E.J. Henderson, is out for the season and Winfield is a surprisingly adept tackling cornerback.

"JEFF GARCIA SUCKS. He isn't even the starter in Buc land anymore." I don't know where you're getting the idea that Garcia sucks. He threw for huge yardage ('00: 4,278), and 30+ TDs ('00, '01) with the 49ers early in his career. He led the Eagles to the NFC East crown in '06 with 5 straight wins to end the season after McNabb went down. Last year he led the Bucs to the NFC South crown and lost to Super Bowl champs NYG in the playoffs. Garcia's not the starter at TB right now because Tampa Bay head coach John Gruden is an idiot, and holds a personal grudge of some sort against him. When ever in this league have you seen a Pro-Bowl QB benched after Week 1, in a game where the starter didn't even play that badly (24-41, 221, 1 TD, 1 INT)? And Garcia kept TB in the game this week against Denver after Griese went out in the third quarter, leading the Bucs on a 13-play, 90-yard drive to cut Denver’s lead to 16-13 with 2:02 left in the game. Gruden will most likely start Garcia next week - reluctantly - despite the fact that he hates him.

"People forget how the humble the Bills fans were during those SB years." Trust me, your fans were not humble. The Bills fans I encountered in college (upstate NY) from '90-'93 are the reason I hate the Bills. No fans are humble when their team is winning.

"Tebow is in Urban Meyer's system. Alex Smith was a great QB in Urban Meyer's system. By the way, how's it working out for that guy in San Fran?" Yes, well. Smith is NOwhere the athlete Tebow is, and Smith was able to run Meyer's offense against WAC teams, not the SEC. I was disgusted when the 49ers picked Smith but that was a really thin year at QB in the college ranks and they needed one. I think Tebow could be a pretty good pro. Maybe a notch below Rothelisberger. It will be interesting to see how he does for the Gators this year with a weaker receiving corps and Percy Harvin banged up. I thought teams were game-planning for Tebow way too much last year, even to the point of run-blitzing up the middle. If I were a def. coordinator I would just try to cover Florida's WRs as best I could and see how he does in the pocket once the DEs get something going on the outside. His strength is running up the middle on set plays, not scrambling out of trouble.

Those are solid teams...but you really waited on QB. I would not be 100% confident in any week with any of the four that you drafted. Garrard is not going to throw only 3 picks again this year. 12 completions for 150 yards and MAYBE a TD is a "good" game for him. He simply has very little potential to light it up. Schaub barely proved himself last year for Houston. He's going to get sacked, fumble, and picked off a ton. Edwards might do ok for you, but the winter games at home will not be kind to his numbers. And Kitna, although he threw for 4000+ again last year, had low TDs (18) and has thrown more INTs than TDs in his last 2 years.
