  1. I think McShay is off on this. We have servicable starters (at best) at OT, but we have a crying need at OLB.
  2. One does not have to be a starter to make significant contributions, or have his loss felt should he go on IR.
  3. We have not yet done enough drafting (especially at OLB) to stop the bleeding.
  4. The change of DC AND the change of system AND the drafting of better players in the past.
  5. The first goal in any scheme is to stop the run, and I believe we were last in the league.
  6. Last year they were in a 4-3, were they not? Not to mention the fact that there defense was better than ours.
  7. Maybe so, but Phillips has had more talent than what is on this roster.
  8. If that is the case, I hope he brings in players a little faster than Nix.
  9. I don't think Fred gets extended until he proves he's back from his broken leg.
  10. The question of the day is initiated by who? Ralph Wilson or Buddy Nix?
  11. I think it would take too big a contract.
  12. IIRC, Gailey said he was going to use the last games to evaluate players. You just might get your wish.
  13. The offense is not out of the doghouse on this. If they weere able to hang on to ball and score points, it would keep the defense on the sidelines. Both sides of the ball need help.
  14. That does seem to be the great mystery-what does he actually do?
  15. Frazier fired after one year? Glad I don't work for you.
  16. I think 30 is a bit high, but until we get a decent defense we may have to. Ball control does not mean running the ball exclusively. Ferguson had 5 good receivers to throw to (Butler, Lewis, Brammer, Leaks, Cribbs), and that's just the starters (Roland Hooks, anybody?). We did throw the ball then, and we could do it now.
  17. If Gailey is really the offensive genius he is made out to be, he will see that we do not have the QB or the WRs to run a pass-happy offense and go ball control. Then we don't need to worry about one of the top-flight QBs.
  18. My mother, who is quite the baker, told me that the quality of the finished product is directly proportional to the quality of the ingredients. Have we given Edwards quality ingredients? Let's take OLB, which appears to be seen by most as the biggest problem on defense. We have Chris Kelsay, barely adequate as a 4-3 DE, Shawne Merriman, on IR (again), and two former late-round picks that have been replaced by defensive lineman. So, if you have nobody who can play the position decently, how is that his fault?
  19. OK. My guess was 21-24, which I think we could consistently score if we went back to the ball control offense and continued to build our defense.
  20. At this point I think it's pretty much a crap shoot.
  21. I think he's more of a Ground Chuck QB than a K-Gun QB.
  22. The Over The Hill Gang strikes back?
  23. Finally, some people who agree with me. I have a hard time understanding how we can fault Edwards when we have so many players on IR or have missed a significant number of games. We do need a significant upgrade in talent, which I believe will happen when our injured players return, through the draft, and maybe a FA or two.
  24. He's bad only when he tries to carry the whole offense.
  25. OK, I'm up for this discussion. About how many points would you say is a reasonable average per game that would give us a chance to win?
