    My case was that he beat out Jackson. Should I have said 2 veterans? OK, fine, I'll take that hit. But he did beat out TJ, and his announcement as the starting QB came before the trade.

    Our guys need to prove themselves on the field. That being said, I don't count what has happened during this preseason as a true indication of how our guys will play this year.

    But if they relase McGee, that will leave a sizeable chunk more cap space we can roll over into next year, with Byrd, Levitre, Urbik, et al, needing new contracts.

    Now that I think about it, Chan also said that he doesn't think the knee injury would contribute to his release, but he didn't say anything about the long TD pass he gave up.
