smoking is dumb.... that is all
-
no he doesn't play defense...
-
I'm pretty surprised most people picked offense so far. Another problem with the "elite offense" argument... an elite offense inherently includes an elite QB. If said elite QB goes down, elite offense is dead.
If an elite defensive player goes down, it's much easier to throw in another guy to fill in without disastrous results.
-
DEFENSE. GB offense got beat by KC... not outscored. it was.................... everyone with me now.... DEFENSE.
-
Fitz is the man, but i wouldn't be opposed to going after a Ryan Tannehill is available after the Defensive needs are filled.
-
The goal - every year - should be to win the Super Bowl. The way the modern NFL is structured, you need an elite quarterback to win the Super Bowl (last ten Super Bowl champion QB's - Rogers, Brees, Rothlisberger, E. Manning, P. Manning, Rothlisberger, Brady, Brady, B. Johnson and Brady; all elite QB's except for B. Johnson).
Is Fitzpatrick elite? Clearly not. Is he a better than average NFL quarterback? Yes.
Given the above, it doesn't matter what other needs you have. If you have identified a potential elite QB in the draft and he is available when your turn comes up, you take him. It's that simple.
One more thought. Say what you will about the Bills' front office, in last year's draft, they got it right, at least as far as the QB question is concerned. They identified a potential franchise QB (Newton) and would have drafted him if he was available. When he wasn't, they stuck to their draft board and didn't reach to pick Gabbert, Locker, Ponder, etc. That's the right way to go about it and that's how they should approach the 2012 draft.
All of those teams that won the big one had Top Defenses... Manning, the best QB ever, has only won one superbowl. Why? Because in their other Superbowl appearance, and their playoff losses, they have been held down by a good opposing D, or the colts D got beat by the opposing offense.
An elite offense only wins half the battle.

SHUDDUP!.....
Jeeze........
word. OP needs to pull whatever is in his ass, out. LOL

I think Marcell would look better if the Bills had a greyhound on the end that could rush the passer and take away the OL's attention
+1

I don't care who stays or who goes... I just want a defense that can hold teams to 14 points or less.
I am not going to claim to know the answer, but it seems like the coordination of the defense isn't on the same level as many other teams. Give me a couple, sacks, some pressure on the QB!
-
I think the Defensive problems are mostly bad coaching but we could also use a couple pass rushers.
i think the Offense is decent. Maybe 2 or 3 guys away from a solid offense(including o-line)
Great defenses can win games alone.
Great offenses rarely win games alone.
All i want for Xmas are new defensive schemes and Dave Wannstedt as DC.
-
we need a defense. Good teams have good defenses, end of story. When we start losing 10-3 week in and week out, then i will jump aboard the Fitz is not a good QB bandwagon.
-
i found myself getting upset over the last two weeks also. Thinking, "here we go again". Then I reminded myself that i didn't expect the bills to win the Superbowl this year. I also reminded myself that, it's a game, and if they never win the Superbowl in my lifetime, i don't really care.
I will not claim to have all the answers like 95% of the people on this board, and probably 95% of bills fans in general. The same people who probably have zero real world professional football experience.
Everyone has a right to get stressed out over whatever they want, but it seems like a huge waste to me.
I will root for my team. Maybe one day the bills will win the big one, we shall see.
Signed,
One of the vast majority of bills fans who don't have a clue on what it takes to successfully run an NFL Franchise.

We need a defense... the end. This team has done a complete 180 with merriman, Kyle Williams, and kelsay out. Zero qb pressure, and less than elite corners equates to the recent shredding that we've taken in the passing game against us.
-
nope, he's fine. Sometimes the ball bounces funny.
-
well done.
-
It doesn't even matter. #2-32 are all losers who have something to prove. Rankings are useless.
-
-Pass rush
-Force turnovers
-Have SOME pass blocking from our o-line
-Establish Freddy early and throughout the game and use play action
-Williams Dareus Merriman -- enough said
+1 this
-
i love all the bashers already, lol. It's def football season. Just route for the damn team, jeezuz.
-
defense , the end.
-
pleaseeeeeeee pass on newton bills.
-
i'm going to go with Defense wins championships.. The Packers would not have wont this past Superbowl without turnovers and big defensive plays, the end.
-
Can you say Vince Young? Cam will not be an NFL elite QB, he has skill, but no smarts.
Newton reminds me of brady quinn. Built well, looks good in drills.. but that's about it. I don't see him doing much. We'll see i guess.
-
i like Gabbert, Mallet, Kaepernick... in that order. Gabbert and mallet could swap for me. However, defense first, then o-line, then a QB. Fitz is a lot better than a few QBs we saw in the playoffs.
-
yes lets draft WRs and a QB, and then next year we can allow 10000 rushing yards per game, but thats ok, because we'll score 100 points per game with our "talented" WRs, and shiny new rookie QB. great idea.
So, why no love for Fitz? How was 6-10 his fault?

The thing that gets me.... Can anyone name a time when Fitz was able to just sit back there in the pocket for a while comfortably? i can't. Brady sure does enjoy that luxury. i've seen Brees hang out back there, and rodgers for sure.
I want a solid o-line and a better defense and then see where that gets us.
