  1. That's a lot of hyperbole. I don't think anyone is saying that losing Levitre would be "no big deal." I don't think it would be "easy" to replace him, but I also don't think it would be that difficult either. I'm of the opinion it's more important to sign Byrd (emerging top 3 FS) than Levitre. I like Levitre, I want him to stay, but if he wants Carl Nicks money i.e. 5yrs 47M then bye-bye. I agree that you don't let your best players walk. Failing to sign Stevie last year, failing to sign Byrd this year, failing to sign Spiller in 2 years - that would qualify as "letting your best players walk." Losing the 17th ranked guard in the league? No. And this may sound crazy, but I think Chan's offensive scheming did a lot to bolster the sack numbers of our OL. Nearly every play was designed to get the ball out of Fitz's hand in under 3 seconds - you rarely saw him drop back and survey the field. Fitz overthrows receivers and flutters balls into the ground faster than any QB in the league. I'll be as happy as anyone here if we can resign him to a deal, but realisitcally there are teams out there like Chicago who probably think they are 1 or 2 OL away from contending for it all. It makes sense for them to overspend and take a shot while they have this window. Couple that with a soft FA market for OL this year and what do you get? Probably about 15-20 DOOOOOOOMED threads incoming. Brace yourself.
  2. Don't worry, Ville Leino will save us!
  3. No. Just no. It would cost $9.6M to franchise Levitre, there's just no possible way that's going to happen - that's more than the highest paid guard in the league gets per year. (by comparison, Byrd could be franchised for ~$6.5M, that's a very realistic scenario) Levitre's a good player - he's durable and has the flexibility to swing out to tackle in an emergency, but we are not talking about Larry Allen here. He's not in the same class as Nicks, Yanda, or Mankins. He's probably in the 10-15 range if you rank the top guards in the league. My biggest problem with letting Levitre go will be the all the whining when the fact is, you can't break the bank for the 15th best guard in the league. It's not difficult to replace an above-average guard. Have fun in Chicago Andy.
  4. They were terrible. You can't simply dismiss the 10 other guys on the field with him so easily. Again, I admitted that Glennon was raw and has some rough edges. No. I said him bulking up a bit wouldn't be an issue because he doesn't run. Adding 15 pounds of weight doesn't effect a pocket passer as much is it would a mobile QB that relies on his feet. You know, I'm starting to sound like the President of the Mike Glennon Fan Club, but that's really not the case. I still think he could be a bust. I just think he has a higher ceiling than any of the other potential-bust QBs coming out this year. This last quote got me. I think when there is no dominant QB coming out, people tend to gravitate to one they like. I'm not sure what causes fans to become infatuated with a single college QB they probably don't have much tape on - but once someone gets fixated on "their" QB, every single other QB must be bashed relentlessly by his detractors. One month ago the consensus from the anti-Glennon crowd was in - "He's another Flacco, no thanks," "Joe Flacco 2.0, pass," "Why the heck would another team pick Joe Flacco Jr in the top 10?" Fast-foward 3 road playoff wins and a Super Bowl appearance and now the line is "He's no Joe Flacco!" Good stuff.
  5. I don't know what it means that his brother was a QB. And let's be honest, the high school game is a lot different than Division 1 football. I guess we just differ on the definition of raw. Glennon, to me, looks very unpolished. His footwork looks erratic and he tends to throw off his back foot. His decision making at times is very questionable - i.e. those bombs he threw up short to the endzone in the Music City Bowl (uggh, whyyy?) Some traits that I do like about him is that he keeps his eyes focused downfield even under heavy pressure, and he slides very well in the pocket for guy that can't run well. Well, that and his bazooka arm and snap release. It doesn't. But then again, nobody here is saying that he is "plenty mobile." I was just showing another poster that he doesn't have zero mobility aka Dan Marino in a ski boot. Glennon's mobility is probably on par with Flacco/Ryan - which is not very good, but at the same time he is not a complete immobile statue. Also you can't dominate the ACC without an O-line that can block and you need receivers that can catch (10 drops in the N. Carolina game???) I do agree that he would have to bulk up a little, probably not a big concern for a QB who doesn't run. And yes, I agree he could be a bust, however every single QB in this draft has a very high bust potential.
  6. Exactly. Whoever we draft in the 8 spot is going to get a 4 yr deal worth a total of $13M. You don't ever want to miss on a 1st round pick, but if we do, the financial impact will be very small. I love the rookie pay scale.
  7. I won't disagree with that - he's extremely raw. I question if he could even step in and be a first-year starter for us. But like you said, it's a very weak QB class. He may be a slightly riskier pick, but I see him having the highest ceiling out of this class.
  8. He's more mobile than Flacco, Brady, or Ryan - 3 QBs that just played in the conference finals. He's far more mobile than that lumbering hack Jim Kelly we had. What a dud that guy was. Look at this statue...
  9. March 12th 4PM the 2013 league year begins and Fitz would earn a $3M roster bonus. We will know for certain by then.
  10. We been trying for over 10+ years to get a single QB that can win, and you expect us to get two of them all of a sudden? Fitz would definitely be one of the better backups in the league - if we could get him to greatly restructure his deal. I don't think he'll go for the pay cut and backup role, and I think he's gone. New coach needs to put his signature on his time here with a new QB.
  11. Fitz pads his stats in garbage time when we are losing by 30+ points. For some reason Gailey never pulls him. Ever. Look at the opener against the Jets. He should have wound up with about 50yds passing 0TDs and 3 INTs. But, because he gets to play in garbage time against a team's 2nd string defense, he gets to tack on 3 useless TDs to his stat line. You can't just look at stats without analyzing the underlying circumstances behind them. Take the KC game in week 2 - we absolutely destroyed them and were up 35-3 in the 3rd quarter. By the end of the game KC wound up with 422 yards of offense which was more than we had. If you didn't watch the game and just looked at the box score, you would think our defense had a terrible day, which would be completely wrong. Don't underestimate the power of garbage time stats.
  12. Patriots are like a bully - the type that once you punch him in the face, he decides to quit fighting.
  13. Well, KC's stadium renovations cost over $375M and were intended to keep their facilities viable for the next 20+ years. Our renovation is more of a band-aid to get us through the next 7-10 years (a much needed band-aid I might add, and I'm not talking about the store).
  14. All the mocks parrot each other. The Bills don't contact Walter Football and tell him who they like in January lol
  15. Whoa, whoa whoa, hold on a second here. He's Mormon???
  16. That actually is pretty good for a January pre-combine mock.
  17. Very curious to see the figures involved.
  18. Every time Marshawn has a great game with 150+yds rushing we have to listen to the lamentations and whines about what a terrible trade our front office made. I think it's only fair to point him out when he stinks it up in a big game. I'm not trying to put Marshawn down, just the local chapter of his fan club.
  19. Here's one for the Marshawn Fan Club: 16 carries 46 yards 2.9 yds/carry 1 fumble (3rd straight game with a fumble).
  20. “I just know what our system is going to bring to the table. I think the fans will be excited about it because we’re going to be high energy and we are going to be an attacking style of defense. We’re going to dictate to the offense. We’re not going to sit back and let offenses dictate to us, so if you’re going beat us it’s because you’ve taken our best punch.” That's all I need to hear. OC still scares me though.
  21. Here's the PFF list, not really a lot to work with. Even if a good CB is available, you have to throw $50M+ at them (see Carr, Finnegan, etc)
  22. I enjoy reading PFF but something has to be wrong with that G. Wilson grade...
  23. He didn't look too hot in his bowl game, made some terrible decisions (i.e. heaving that ball into the endzone short). Kiper has him ranked #22 on his Big Board and the top QB.
  24. I think once fans realize his name is pronounced "PET-in" it's going to be a mild disappointment I am looking forward to seeing the Bills defense blitz again, that should be refreshing.
  25. We just hired our own retread? Here's his bio Time to bust out the hard liquor.
