  1. The vindication is directed at every card-carrying member of The Donte Whitner Fan Club - those who feel the need to start a thread every time Donte makes a hit i.e. Pierre Thomas. How long you been a member?
  2. How about this one? "Andy Levitre made it pretty clear at locker clean out this morning that he intends to shop for the best offer in free agency. Smart move."
  3. What has he done at OLB to draw that conclusion?
  4. Fitz pads his stats in garbage time against 2nd string defenses when we are getting blown out. Week 1 NY Jets Fitz 8/15 for 75yds 0TD and 3INT. Score NY Jets 41 Buffalo 7. In comes 2nd stringers and the Jets give up playing D and all of a sudden Fitz 18/32 195yds 3TDs LOL I seen that happen all too often over the past 2 years. Fitz wouldn't have cracked 15TDs last year if it wasn't for garbage time. Spiller catching a 2yd screen and running 60+ yards for a TD doesn't hurt either. Put the Fitz stats away, they are meaningless. Go back and watch him on tape, that's all you need to know.
  5. That's just....insane for a 275 pound man. That's faster than some WRs. No doubt the combine will vault him to a high 1st round pick. Jason Pierre-Paul was also a product of the bobble-head hype machine, and that's a much better comparison. Both have similar size and weight, neither started out playing football, both had less than mediocre stats playing for small schools against weak competition, i.e. both considered more hype than substance. Nix would never in a million years take the risk on a player like Ansah 8th overall. If we pick him, then you know someone else is running our draft.
  6. If disappointment is a factor, than Tony Hunter would be a lock for the TE spot.
  7. This is what I thought, I haven't heard much talking about him here. As a matter of fact, I think you just created the first Ansah thread lol
  8. No, that's been proven many, many times over the last few years. The aggravating thing is that people still keep falling for it.
  9. I can. They're all terribly mediocre.
  10. Maybe you live in some sort of TBD vacuum? Turn on ESPN, NFL Network, any SF forum, etc, etc and there's a large amount of criticism for his play in the 1st half (he was laughably terrible and repeatedly caught out of position or smoked while pinching up). Sell your Whitner jersey on Ebay and give it up already....
  11. The guy who wrote this references himself as reporting it on Twitter.
  12. Just another example of Nix not being able to re-sign our top talent and creating more holes in....oh wait...
  13. I wish. Halftime show planned for '14 SB
  14. Watching Whitner get smoked the entire 1st half was just beautiful.
  15. edit: whoops late to the party.
  16. I see a few people here that like Dion Jordan at #8, you guys are going to have to help me out here. I watched about 4 or 5 Oregon games this year and I didn't even really notice him on the field. His stats show him with only 5 sacks, mostly against cupcake teams like Tennessee Tech and Washington State. He only has 2 years at the DE position (started as TE) and I read Oregon had to create a special hybrid role to use him as a stand-up pass rusher. At 239 he's undersized even for a 3-4 OLB. I don't throw around the Maybin comparison lightly (it's the ultimate insult), but this guy fits that mold minus the production. Which game sold you on Jordan?
  17. I know the origin of the euphemism. I was inferring that there is now a cult following that claims there is always another cult following - i.e. a cult of people that thinks everyone else is a cult. Maybe it's too meta.
  18. Kool-Aid references are the new Kool-Aid.
  19. Kruger wants $8M a year according to LaCanfora. The real steal off the Ravens is a guy most haven't even heard of - Dannell Ellerbe. I got to see him play ILB when Lewis went down and the guy is an absolute tackling machine - all over the field sideline-to-sideline and above average coverage skills too. He reminds me a lot of London Fletcher. As crazy as it sounds, I read the Ravens consider him the heir apparent to Lewis and a higher priority to sign over both Boldin and Kruger.
  20. I'm not really a fan of any of the top DE's listed there primarily because most are undersized. How bad does Pettine want a rush OLB? I admit Ansah is a very, very intriguing prospect. It will be interesting to see where he gets picked - I expect him to shoot up the boards after the combine.
  21. Well that article is by the AFC East blogger James Walker. I read his articles and can state that he makes a lot of mistakes! Here's the Fitz summary: D-Day is March 12th 4PM EST If Fitz is on the roster after that date we pay him $10.45M and we take a cap hit of $10.45M If Fitz is cut before that date, we pay him $3M and we take a cap hit of $10M. So cutting him may only save $0.45M in cap space, but it saves us $7.45M that we don't have to pay him (His contract calls for $24M guaranteed, and we have paid him $21M so far, so we still owe him $3M no matter what happens).
  22. Every December game during the Superbowl years had over 70,000+ attendance. That's attendance not just sales.
  23. It's amazing there are fans out there that still buy into this. Use some common sense. The new stadium deal makes us less likely to move for the next 7 years. The Toronto deal is a money grab that makes it more likely to lose 1 extra game per year. Five years ago it was unknown how this would play out, now we know - good for the bottom line but a disaster for the fans and players. Where are you getting this $30M figure from, Bleacher Report?
  24. I can't wait to hear the spin on this one. It's now impossible for Brandon to say winning is the highest priority for this team when we throw away 1 home game every year for $$$$.
