  1. It's a bit duplicitous to count the full 53 man roster. In the AFC there are 26 starting positions open for MLBs (not everyone runs a 3-4). The first 2 players selected represent the top 7.5%. When we bring the 2 alternates, it jumps to 15% and that's getting a little watered down. Of course, it's just a popularity contest and with the rise of IDP in fantasy football, fans just check the top boxes. Of course, the players love voting for the UFAs as well.
  2. Agreed, he's demonstrated that over the years.
  3. Maybe Sammy will get himself a QB in the near future? Luck to Watkins?
  4. The loser point typically adds the illusion of parity, but there really isn't any team (or teams) in our conference that is a trainwreck this year (like Colorado, Arizona).
  5. I just want to see them play one 60 minute game with the same sense of urgency they had for the last 10 minutes of the 3rd period.
  6. A great recipe for accumulating tackles is a defense that can't get off the field. When the other team's running back is rushing 30+ times a game and trampling you for 200+ yards there's going to be plenty of tackles to go around. Rex can't be blamed for everything, the Brown brothers in the middle of the field are culpable for a large share of the defensive problems.
  7. I bet he doesn't. I've seen 7x7 thrown around lately but I'm not buying it. I think he'll get a shade above Yandle's deal.
  8. I think the front office would be thrilled to see Vegas take that contract off our hands (I would). His play so far isn't even close to the $5.7M AAV hit for the next 4 years. That's Shattenkirk money. I think a guy like Alzner makes more sense. His point production isn't the greatest, but he's very reliable in his own end. He's a lefty shot and fantastic on the PK (3rd in league). Justin Schultz is having a resurgence in Pitt this year, and while it may be hard to pry him out of that town, definitely should be on the radar.
  9. The desperation to prop up Taylor is pretty amusing.
  10. Two goals from the D, completely ruining my stat.
  11. We're going to get a first hand look at young a Ristolainen completely burning out. The minutes he's playing are ridiculous (even aside from tonight's emergency shifts)
  12. Club seats, food, drink, etc, yeah it's definitely low to mid five figures.
  13. Here's a stat - our defensemen have collectively scored a grand total of 5 goals this season. There are currently 33 other defensemen in the league that have individually outscored our entire defense.
  14. Classic TSW thread. 90% of the people have to Google "Rick Dennison" to figure out who he is. Read up on his wiki and 10 minutes later... "Great Hire!"
  15. Nah, that excuse is gone. Eich missed a quarter of the season and we were only 1 point behind the Leafs when he got back. The Leafs are pulling away and the Sabres are stuck in neutral. In the week before X-mas we had a nice 5-game stretch against some of the worst teams in the league, and we got absolutely drubbed (while healthy). That was the "Oh %" moment.
  16. Kubiak was the guy designing the offense and calling the plays (until he got sick).
  17. Should Broncos move on from Rick Dennison?
  18. Oh boy...
  19. His lack of work ethic was really on display this past season. The Clemson trips, hockey games, World Series, etc, etc. A lot a people supported him with the "he can do what he wants on his day off" excuse, but meanwhile the coach we are playing is putting in an 80-hour work week. That laid-back approach seeps down to the players.
  20. Kane is on a pace to score ~30 goals over an 82 game season. He plays LW -- not exactly a position we have depth at (unless you have faith in Ennis lasting a season). He's one of the fastest skaters on the team, and getting slower isn't typically a recipe for success. He can be aggravating to watch at times but he's not the problem with this team. If you want to ditch Kane for his off-ice antics, yeah, I get that. But trading him for D doesn't make sense when we traded a 1st pair D to get him in the first place.
  21. He gave the fan base the "core values" talk.
  22. Bring in Chip and trade for Desean Jackson. Just to see what happens.
  23. The goaltending is just awful -- so many soft goals. They are far worse than their stats indicate. Chad Johnson is giving you the middle finger, GMTM. I don't know how much more of Bylsma's dump and chase / positional style of hockey I can take. It's so frustrating to watch. The constant line shuffling (Moulson to the 1st line in the 3rd period?) reeks of over-coaching. At this point I'd rather throw the X's and O's out the window and have Nolan back.
  24. No, he made Fitzpatrick look like Rodgers in Week 2, and he faced QBs named Brissett, Keenum, and Kaepernick to build on that mirage of a defense.
  25. Yeah, you definitely don't want a QB that's going to throw for 30 TDs regardless of who you put around him. I doubt Rivers has mastered the art of handing the football off to Shady.
