  1. Washington sighting as he just gobbled up the Colts running back. 3rd and long-first down as Spikes misses the tackle. Duke Williams levels him!
  2. Hawthorne with big hit on sideline. Spikes and Hawthorne are your ILBs right now.
  3. Bad play call on 3rd and 3 as running back is swallowed up on broken blocking assignment. Formation was 3 WRs and 1 TE with 1 RB. TE was standing as a WR. They've run this formation several times on 3rd down.
  4. Walter Powell hauls in great 30 yard throw by EJ.
  5. Colts 1.4 yards per play thus far.
  6. Wow! Great pass breakup by Duke Williams on a deep cross. Well thrown ball that Duke defended! D only allowed one 3rd down conversion thus far!
  7. 3rd and 2 for Bills. 13:00 left in second qtr. Broken play as it seems Velasco snapped the ball without warning. Punt. Colts start at their own 30z
  8. Walter Powell now returning punts (replacing Reggie Bush). Holding on the return. Iffy penalty with the Colts defender sliding down due to wet conditions.
  9. Dorkington-he did have Gragg on that. Ball placement for Hankeraon was ok but a tight window with the safety over the top and closing.
  10. Preston Brown is having a great first quarter in run support and pass coverage!
  11. The positive for us is that Rex has already faced a Chan Gailey led offense and was successful. The scores were pretty lopsided except for the last game in which the Bills won.
  12. I read the articles on Buffalo Rumblings regarding Roman's offense, specifically the blocking schemes utilized, and concluded that the current stable of linemen may be very successful in this system. The current analysis on this board surrounding the linemen we have under contract is based on a system that didn't play to their strengths. Many are assuming that last year's results will be repeated even though they will be in a completely different system. We might not address the offensive line anymore in FA if Roman believes his current linemen can execute his system.
  13. I asked for the justification for trading Lynch during a fan forum with John Guy, Director of Player Personnel during this time. His answer centered on the off field problems with Lynch and he seemed to imply that the Buffalo Bills and the NFL security folks knew that he was digging deeper into the drug bin while he was in Buffalo. The off field incidents coupled with the suspected/confirmed drug use made the decision to trade him easy. This is conjecture on my part but I really think that the Bills believed he would be suspended by the league for a long period of time if he stayed in Buffalo. Honestly, I think the trade saved Marshawn's career.
  14. Will be up to watch this game at 2am in Japan. I have to sleep because I have to get to work right after!
  15. I've been visiting the site about 10X's a day for years now but rarely post. I'd just like to thank the regular posters for actively participating. Without you, there'd be no worthwhile content to view.
  16. I rewatched the game as well and came away with the same conclusions. EJ played OK, his offensive line and supporting cast didn't. I'd like to see EJ hold his offensive mates accountable though. EJ seems to lack the fire and passion to be a genuine leader for the offense. On another note, I've become very concerned with our Linebacker's abilities to cover running backs in space.

  18. All, I don't post very often but I ran across an article linked below that provides some background and the overall concept of the New England offense. I don't completely agree with the author's premise that the simplification of an offense's play call in the huddle has directly attributed to their success but I thought the X's and O's discussion provided some valuable insight. The article is also applicable to the Jets as they've just hired a West Coast Offense OC. Hope you enjoy. http://www.grantland...-brady-patriots Go Bills!
  19. This is a solid SEC corner. I'm an SEC guy and watched Gilmore all year. He's a great tackler, solid in coverage, and was rarely fooled by the opposing WR. If you watched the real USC at all you'd know that the defense carried them this year with the inconsistent QB play. Great pick and will help our D as a unit!
  20. TBDers, Just wanted to bring the auction to your attention. I saw it advertised and went to the site. Click on the teams to the left once you visit. Hall of Fame, Play 60, and Breast Cancer awareness has good stuff as well. Saw a Dareus signed red helmet you may find interesting to bid on. http://www.NFL.com/auction Most bidding ends 13 September. Thanks
  21. The OL looks pretty bad. I'm also concerned about our DBs! I have the Denver broadcast. When Vern Lundquist says it's "23-3 and the Broncos are rolling" you know it's bad. 338 to 140 total yards so far. Hit the panic button.
  22. I'd offer a different perspective in answering the question as to what defense we play in 2011 by going back to Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey's comments when they were originally hired. I believe both were convinced that the move to a 3-4 would offer long term success vice the short term stability that playing the 4-3 Cover 2 would offer. Buddy's history with the Chargers and their 3-4 system lends credence to this logic as to his familiarity with the system and the type of players that he scouted and drafted for them. The interesting thing about this is the hybrid system that Gailey and Edwards have implemented throughout the season. I believe the decision was based out of necessity rather than desire. Neither Edwards or Gailey are historically tied to the 3-4 system from their past coaching duties. If you look at Edwards career starting in 2002 you'll see that he's spent alot of time coaching linebackers in the 4-3 system. Gailey ran a 4-3 zone blitz system while at Georgia Tech. In the end I believe you'll see the draft and FA pickups focused on developing the 3-4 but the team will continue running the hybrid throughout the 2011 campaign.
  23. I too finished watching the game with the same feeling you mention in regards to Moorman. I don't believe its a physical issue because he crushed a 60 yard punt at the end of the game. Maybe he's being directed to get hang time vice distance...
  24. I just finished "When Pride Still Mattered" about a month ago and I simply couldn't put the book down. The book gives you a great overview of Lombardi's life to include the dysfunctional relationship with his family and the painful decision to leave the Pack and start anew with the Redskins. This book represents one of the best biographies I've ever read.
