This is as well-put as anything I have heard or read to date. If you go to the game expecting or demanding to sit the whole time, stay home. There are certain venues like football games, rock concerts, etc., where an expectation of sitting for the entire event simply cannot be defended. So if the entire stadium is standing, and you're yelling for people to sit down, shut your pie hole and stand like everyone else. Conversely, if you stand the entire game when everyone else is sitting, you're an imbecile with no respect for others. Stay home, moron. Or stand there and get pelted with debris (justifiably so). At the end of the day, there is a gray area here. I was at the game in the lower bowl, and everyone was standing for the entire second half. I took breaks by sitting during the extended commercial time-outs. However, during the first half, there were periods when the whole section was sitting because we were bummed out (down 21-0). GO WITH THE FLOW, YOU KNOW?

A difference between Chan and Dick
Stormin Norman replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are SO MANY ways in which Chan is demonstrating he's not Dick, nor Greg, nor Mike. It's nauseating to think about some of the stuff we've seen over the years: - Mularkey lining an injured Roscoe Parish up at quarterback and having him throw a pass... WITH A CAST ON HIS THROWING HAND AND FOREARM. - JP Losman rolling out and getting crushed by a Jets linebacker, causing him to fumble the game away...RIGHT AFTER WE RAN THE BALL THREE TIMES FOR 15 YARDS. - McKelvin fighting for extra yards on a kickoff vs. New England...AND GETTING PRAISED AFTER THE LOSS BY JAURON FOR TRYING TO MAKE A PLAY. - Dickie firing his offensive coordinator DURING THE WEEK OF OUR FIRST REGULAR SEASON GAME. No doubt, you can EASILY add to this list. . -
Fitzpatrick has one of the best qualities
Stormin Norman replied to youngjebrey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spot on. His can-do, no-quit attitude seems to shine best when our backs are to the wall. Could we possibly have a better "fit" at quarterback than The Amish Rifle? -
I remember when Jim Kelly finally came to Buffalo. We didn't have a great record his first season, but over the next few years, you could see the talent and coaching competency (remember Hank Bullough?) improving. Player personnel decisions translated into performance on the field. A core group of leaders on the team ignored prior team history and established new traditions. Winning is the final measure, of course, but those years were memorable because they set the stage for our incredible run in the 90s. Here we are today, and FINALLY the spark has been lit again. I have backed the team through thick and thin over the past decade, but for all those years I never sensed that a championship caliber team was emerging. UNTIL NOW. Greater competency at QB and coaching are the primary drivers, for sure, but also talent and production from obscure cast-offs and low-round draft picks. The similarities to the mid- to late-80s are remarkable. I am typically gun-shy about wearing my Bills heart on my sleeve, but I am casting off all reservations and enjoying another ride with the Buffalo Bills!!!!

I was at the game in the lower bowl celebrating the victory with my best friend since high school. I distinctly remember two moments yesterday: - When Florence intercepted Brady the crowd erupted, but as he ran the ball closer to the end zone there was a gathering crescendo -- like a freight train getting closer and closer -- until he crossed the goal line. At that point, the crowd took it to another level entirely. Audibly and visibly, it was as euphoric and tumultuous as I have seen it in many years. A tremendous release of pent-up frustration, perhaps? The decibel level jumped the instant he reached the end zone. - After the game, we hung out in the stadium and soaked it all in for another 20 minutes. Tens of thousands were still there with us. Fred Jackson waved the huge Bills flag as other players from both teams gathered at mid-field for a post-game prayer. Ryan Fitzpatrick came out of the tunnel to do an interview near the sideline. As he exited the field, he looked like a Gladiator in football pads being triumphantly cheered by the adoring masses. Does it compare to other great moments at The Ralph? Honestly, I don't feel the need to compare it. I love the players on this team, and they have most certainly endeared themselves to Bills fans across the country. The entire experience was a priceless memory on an absolutely gorgeous day in Buffalo!

Tedy Bruschi on Fitz
Stormin Norman replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly, it seems to me that turnovers are perhaps the biggest potential issue that can derail a Bills victory on Sunday. It's likely both teams move the ball up and down the field on each other, but who makes the mistakes? The Raiders turned it over, leading to their undoing while Buffalo did not (even though the Raiders blew some chances). -
There's no hate. It may be simply because there haven't been many meaningful kicks in these past few dreadful seasons. Every game has important turning points and it seems when he misses it's at those moments. It's really not a criticism of Rian. It"s more of a gut feel. With that said, overall I agree he has been consistent for the Bills.

I don't know that I've seen this discussed before. I'd like to know if I am the only one who feels this way. In my gut, I have a nagging lack of confidence in Rian Lindell. He's great at nailing the 52 yarder in a blowout loss but can't hit the 30 yard kick when the team absolutely needs to come away with points. Anyone else have the same viewpoint? I know the kick was blocked, but I still wonder how clutch he really is.

Official BILLS vs RAIDERS GAMEDAY THREAD
Stormin Norman replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dan Marino just said neither the Bills nor the Raiders will make the playoffs. He basically dissed the game as meaningless. Like just about every trip he ever made into the Ralph. -
Let me say this: if you are being truly OBJECTIVE, then Jerry Sullivan and the media have been CORRECT more often than not over the last decade. For every single time a Bills fan (and I am a rabid one, believe me) crows after a victory about how the media got it all wrong by dumping on the Bills and picking them to lose, there are five other games where Sullivan and the media got it RIGHT. This franchise has been a decade-long joke. They drew comparisons, rightfully so, to the Lions as a measure of total futility. It's not something I want to rehash. But the media has banged on this team because they deserved it. As an organization, the Bills sold us "hope and change" for ten years, not a viable product on the field. I have hated enduring the negativity we've been subject to from all corners of the media, not just Jerry Sullivan or Schopp and the Bulldog, among others. But the truth is this team has sucked for so long that to spin things positive would have been disingenuous. Yes, the media should also recognize improvement... but have you seen any in the last ten years? Now, if the Bills get on a roll and (most importantly) get to the playoffs, and the negativity persists, then I'll be first to jump on the anti-media bandwagon.

Here's an interesting thought... could we actually see a backup quarterback doing mop-up duty in a BIG WIN??? -

If I fantasized about a win today, it wouldn't have been half as enjoyable as this has been so far. Does anyone think these guys get FAT HEADS after a big win? I don't. I like Fitz as a leader and I can't see him getting overly excited about one win. -

As a well-trained Bills fan, I will reserve my enthusiasm until the last tick of the clock. With that said, I just let out a primal scream out the back door. I feel better now. -

Love how they are keeping up the pressure. DIckie Boy would have gone into a shell on offense about ten minutes into the game! They're playing as if they made the trip to win.. just like Chan said! -

Is Dick Jauron back? What is it with the passing focus? We gain seven yards on first down and then pass twice????? -
Can't wait until he guarantees a winning season for the 49ers. And declares himself the best safety in the league. I need a laugh.

Nice video feature on Fergy...
Stormin Norman replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fergy is one of my favorite athletes of all time. He is a gentleman, humble, and to this day is a proud Buffalo Bills alumni. He has suffered incredibly wtih Lymphoma (there was a time when it looked like he wasn't going to make it), yet today he appears fully recovered. My favorite game of all time was his performance in Dan Marino's rookie debut, when Fergy threw for 419 yards and five touchdowns to beat the Fish in OT. (And Marino looked like the real thing on that day, too). I am still miffed to this day about the playoff loss to Cincinnati (vs. Kenny Anderson). It's fourth and four as the Bills are behind but driving to win the game. Fergy hits Lou Piccone for a quick five yard strike at the sideline. First down! No, wait. There's a LATE FLAG on the field. Delay of game! Joe overthrows Roland Hooks in the end zone on fourth and nine and the Bills lose a heart-breaker. Here's what I have never understood, nor has it ever been resolved in my mind: Why would the officials allow a play to run to completion before throwing a flag for delay of game? Why was the play not blown dead immediately like every other freakin delay of game call I have ever seen. You can watch the game on YouTube. I defy anyone to tell me they hear a whistle or see any referee motioning as if he is attempting to stop the play. I can honestly say I have never seen a delay of game call that was not blown dead before the snap or immediately after the snap. And it's been 30 years since we got jobbed in Cinci!!! -
If you watch YouTube videos to see good Bills teams... If you live out of town and watch streaming video of Bills games on your laptop... If you live out of town and make your own wings for game time... If you were dancing to a recording of the Shout song as the Titens were receiving the kick-off...

Yes, that's right. I had forgotten about that. But while he was a Dolphin, he and the rest of the Fish were simply PRETENDERS. If you were at the game when he flipped the birds and spit, the Ralph felt like the Roman Coliseum! The roar was something to behold and the crowd was ferocious! Bryan was, as usual the victim. Check this out: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=tf0FFEsiZxw http://www.sun-senti...0,3258747.story

No, I hadn't even thought of it, but maybe not bad to have people think about it!!

So the Dolphins hire Bryan Cox as a coach? At least there is SOMETHING that will help stoke this petered-out rivalry. Unfortunately, someone will have to tell current Bills players why this news means something to Buffalo fans. But, make no mistake, when Cox takes the field, we'll all remember how he flipped the bird(s) at us, spit at us collectively, and disparaged our city in the media. (Come to think of it, I saw the same things happening in Wisconsin) No one can tell me it won't be fun to verbally tee off on Bryan when he comes back into town!
