Defensive end, safety, corner, and QB are just as important. This team does not need another low round guard.

How many years has EJ had a decent O-line and a competent OC?

Tuel will not make it to training camp. The Bills will draft a QB and that will be the end of Tuel time.

The Raiders should share the 49ers stadium. It is insane for Oakland to even partially pay for another stadium when there is another so close. The current Raiders stadium is probably the worst in the NFL. The Raiders deserve a better place to play but there is a perfectly fine place to play no further than Orchard Park is to Niagara Falls - 45 min by car.

Pettine's defense couldn't stop the run. Schwartz made the defense better. Maybe that was more Spikes and Brown and no Kiko but the change in run D was dramatic. Run D is my big worry with Rex and no Spikes. Roman is an upgrade over Marrone and Hackett though.

They need a DE with size in the draft. Big hitting safety and a DE will be 2 of the first four picks unless Whaley/Rex has a vet in mind. There are only so many guards this team can draft and take to camp. I would rather see a QB, a center, and defensive depth taken in the draft.

Bust is easy - Mariota He has no NFL talent. Just ten years ago he would have been a 6th round pick. He can't make NFL throws.

He is not a HOF player. There are better kickers and punters than him that deserve the HOF honor. For his era he was a below average WR. Today he might be a six time Pro Bowl player with multiple 100 catch seasons in the right system. He was probably tougher than Welker but maybe just a little slower. 7 blocked punts in over ten years is a ton but is hardly a "regular" occurence.

Thurman was my favorite Bill but OJ is in the discussion of greatest of all time. Thurman was behind Emmitt and Barry in his own era. Interesting they both had combination skills. OJ power and speed. Thurman cutting/ability to set up blocks and catching.

Tuel is awful. He doesn't even deserve OTA time. I like Sean Mannion as the only decent drop back QB in the draft other than Winston. His senior year stats took a hit because Oregon State lost two top WR's. He has the arm strength and size. He is slower than stink. He played in a pro-style offense his entire career. Not saying he will succeed buthe has the physical tools to do it. Tuel does not. If you are going to take a flyer on a late QB he should have speed or a great arm. Neither of those can be taught. They have a project speed QB. Bring in a QB that can truly beat the defense over the top.

Whaley knows FJ is done. His only role is as a pass protector on 3rd down which he is very accomplished. My guess McCoy and Dixon will be just fine on third down/spread packages. Pegula overstepped on this one. Rex will finish what Whaley started and let FJ go early in training camp.

To say we are set at DE is a complete unknown. At this time nobody knows who the 3-4 DE's are. DareuS and who else? The 4-3 DE's are obvious. They need to bring in at least one or two more DE's. If they had lost Hughes then a pass rusher like Sam would have been wise. Now I,think however they need to add a 280 lb run stuffer in the second or third round.

This is a great thread Woods can be a very very good #2 WR to Watkins. Hopefully he just gets better and better and re-signs like Cobb did in Green Bay. I think Kiko will be a bust in Philly if they play him at MLB. Still think he could be very good at OLB. His best fit may have been last year with Scwartz or a new team that plays a 4-3 with him at OLB.

And what is Cassell? A limp arm dink and dunk guy like Edwards. Like I posted, Fitz and the 2012 defense was a nightmare. Fitz and the 2014 or 2015 defense would be special.

Anyone know how Clay figures in this calculation? I know it is players lost vs signed and the money plays a role. But he was a transition player. Do they count him the same as say Pears or Spiller?

They have enough young offensive line bodies. They will draft DE, ILB, and S in rounds 2-4. Only offensive player might be a TE.

Fitz played on a team with a historically bad defense. One of the worst units the Bills have ever put on the field. Fitz's strength was his attitude and smarts. This defense would be able to recover from the ridiculous INT he would throw from time to time. And Fitz would more than often get 7 points off of a turnover or short filed this defense would create. Fitz and this team would be 11-5 and winners of the AFC East. I look at Cassell and I see Jauron's wet dream. Dink and dunk and don't mess it up for the defense. That is not what this team needs. This team needs to score early, score off of turnovers, and then let the defense pressure the QB mercilessly. This team needs an aggressive QB not a Trent Edwards type.

Really? Wow he played well for 5 maybe 6 games. He made some freakish athletic plays but he was terrible in run defense. I would have loved to see him as a 4-3 WOLB in Schwartz's defense. He might have been great. As a MLB he is just too small.

I like Rex but our defense was better with Scwartz than with Pettine. The DB's and LB's are much better now. I hope Rex remembers how to stop the run. Pettine sure couldn't figure it out with the same group up front. I would have been perfectly fine with Scwartz's defense and some added wrinkles from Ryan. Ryan seems to know how to slow down Brady. Hopefully Rex brings more pressure while not getting gashed up the middle.

What is the board's thought on Searcy's replacement. I think they draft a safety in second or third round. I also think Graham might play a lot at the safety position. The rest of the contenders have had limited playing time and mostly in three safety packages.

Williams and Jackson will be gone. Jackson will look old and slow in OTA's and that will be the end. I would be ok with Williams in the guard competition if his back is ok - though that is very doubtful. Leodis will start over Graham though both will see a tone of playing time.
