  1. Kiko was a below average middle linebacker the last 9 maybe 10 games of his rookie year. He is too small. I will admit I would have loved to see him play OLB the way Green Bay deploys Mathews. But Spiller was not the answer at RB. He is just not dependable. He can not read blocks, pass block, nor break tackles. Your premise about not being able to pay Glenn would be the same if they had signed Spiller to a big contract. With little money invested in QB they will have plenty of money to keep Dareus, Glenn, and Gilmore. Fred's ridiculous salary will be gone this year or next. Cassel's too. Restructure Mario and let Darby take McKelvin's spot and there is plenty of cap room. And we won't have to see Kiko disappoint for the next two years.
  2. I think Fred shows his age in camp and is offered a chance to retire. If he doesn't then he will be cut early so he can get a chance with some other team. I agree he may be the best pass protector but who says the other guys can't do that as well. It was Spiller that is the worst blitz pick-up back in the league. Who says Dixon, Brown, or McCoy aren't capable. Plus with multiple TE sets there will be less pass blocking assignments.
  3. Live in Portland. My son's have grown up here and they like the Seahawks. I've been to several Seahawk games. I have also taken the boys to home and away Bills games. Last year did a redeye to Chicago and back the same day. Seattle's stadium and food/beer is much better than the Ralph. As Seattle is my second team the Bills is theirs.
  4. Does anybody really think the ST's coach has any impact on the play of special teams? The Green Bay ST coach coached his back-up TE to block so the star WR could field the onside kick. The player lost the game not the coach. I would put their impact at 10% max. The team is younger and has more depth. That means better ST's play. Don't know if it was Crossman or Marrone that wanted some of the starters on the coverage units but it worked.
  5. A suspended sitting in the owners box with Gisele Tom Brady is still the best QB in the AFC East. In fact if the Bills are to compete they might want to switch to the single wing or wishbone this year. Only Cleveland is worse at QB.
  6. Shanahan is such a fraud. Elway made him. Hell his kid might be better than he is.
  7. Rodgers Luck Brady Seattle's defense and Lynch Bills defense and McCoy
  8. Give me a top 15 QB in YPA and this defense and they go to the SuperBowl.
  9. I hate harbaugh but to be fair to him I think he thought Cowherd meant playing the Big 10 was like having a bye week. Cowturd was referring to the Big 10 as up and coming and it was a "Buy" like a stock. It was a dumb question and after that it went downhill.
  10. Whaley should just photocopy Suh's contract and hope Dareus signs it. If he is not signed before the season, he will make Suh + 10% on the open market next year.
  11. Much has been written about the QB and guard spots. Let's talk defense. If you are Rex and Whaley, what is your primary worry right now? Mine would be DE in a three man line. I don't see a 3-4 DE that is that good. I like Carrington in that role a little. Will this force Rex to go 4-3 or 46 more? SS and backup MLB are my other worries but not enough to make any moves. What do you think? Is the DL set?
  12. As in all things in life...it depends. I believe the last offense to keep a player in one spot was Marvin Harrison and Indy. The players will move all over the place. How do you even define the slot? Is that a flex TE? Is it the third WR playing off the line? What about the bunch formations with two guys off the line? A good offense can move guys around and runs all routes from every spot. Sammy can do a deep cross or out from the slot. Hogan a 7 yard curl on third down. Hopefully Clay can run up the seam from there. I am not sure what the plans for Harvin are. I really don't know if he is a complete WR. If he is not, then where he lines up has little to do with how they will get him the ball. A WR screen is typically thrown to the outside WR who takes a step back while the "slot" WR blocks the DB. Harvin might line up in the backfield but run a short cross from there. It should be fun if the line develops....
  13. We are still !@#$ed at RG. And that assumes Miller wins the LG spot. I have no faith in Incognito, Williams, or Richardson. Mathis is better than all of them.
  14. Agree with Big Ben and Rivers. Both are very good sliding in the pocket and buying time. Not so sure about the others. Manning is probably the extreme. Either beats you deep or throws an interception. I don't agree with others. I think the only way to beat Brady is to blitz early and often. Look what he did to Seattle with the dink and dunk crap. Patriots have few guys that can beat you deep. I have never been sold on Ryan. Maybe he is better against the blitz - I won't argue. But I know he is not that good. Makes poor decisions a lot.
  15. Playing with LaDainian Tomlinson. That is 700 yards a season backing up a HOF RB. I would say that is better than really good.
  16. Manning was hurt. His WR's let him down in the playoff game. I think he is behind Montana and Brady - maybe even Favre, Young, and Elway too. But he was still awesome for most of last year. Manning in Houston with that defense! They would move ahead of the Colts for best in the division - Luck is great but the Colts defense is bottom 5.
  17. There is a surprise or two every year. This year there will be two and one or both of the depth safeties will also not make it. Both Easley and Jackson will not make the team. Hogan and Robert Woods can do what Easley does on ST's - not to mention Darby. I think they keep Goodwin and just go with five WR's, 3 TE's and keep an extra LB. Fred does not make the team. I want him to but I think his age will show itself terribly in camp this year. They keep Dixon and Brown. I predicted Graham to safety. I think Rambo and Meeks might be gone. I don't think much of either of them. I don't think the fourth safety is on the roster right now.
  18. The Bills had big plans for him too and it rarely worked out. I still believe there is some truth to the "winded" comment by Gailey. I bet he has asthma. My guess he gets 25 catches while missing 7-8 games with a hamstring or ankle issue.
  19. Did you see the throws he made against Alabama and Oregon? He is more NFL ready than Mariota. Mariota will be a huge bust. I doubt Jones is ever a NFL starter either. But he has a cannon and that goes a long way in this league.
  20. I went with Searcy. Spiller will have one highlight play and then be mostly ineffective. Searcy may have a very solid season if he is used properly. Limit his time in deep coverage. Kiko watching in Buffalo will be a second sport. Will the Eagles underrated DL be able to protect him? Will he fade down the stretch? Did a year off allow him to add upper body strength or did the knee injury rob him of his best asset?
  21. Kyle Williams was awful in the run game under Pettine and Kiko was too small to play MLB. Williams will be poor against the run but Preston Brown should be an upgrade over Kiko in the run game. Kiko was fantastic nickel LB. Brown looks good playin nickel LB too.
  22. My search said the car cost $459,000. Brandon Spikes signed a 1 year, $1,100,000 contract with the New England Patriots, including a $25,000 signing bonus, $25,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,100,000. In 2015, Spikes will earn a base salary of $800,000, a signing bonus of $25,000, a roster bonus of $225,000, a workout bonus of $50,000 and a incentive bonus of $200,000. Spikes has a cap hit of $1,300,000. So after taxes and money for his agent - if he bought the car this year then he just blew threw his entire years salary. The NFL and NFLPA should mandate that half the money players make goes into a trust fund they can't touch. I think that is what Michael Jordan did early in his career.
  23. By all reports this kid was just not ready to play mentally. And that is despite coming from Alabama and about as professional a college team can get. If he starts at RT or RG that is a huge upgrade. Henderson is the perfect swing tackle. If Henderson is what he was coming out of HS, then he beats out Glenn for LT and Glenn becomes a ProBowl LG. Then pencil in the rookie at RG. Let Incognito go so he doesn't poison everything along with C. Williams. Next year draft a true center.
  24. No way I love it. Love the standing Buffalo. Everyone in Portland loves it. Get all kinds of compliments and questions.
