  1. Only Belichick has complete control. Chip Kelly had it and got fired. Right or wrong, Jim Harbaugh tried for total control and lost. His brother won a SuperBowl and is clearly no. 2 in that organization. Even Pete Carroll shares power with the GM. Rex might have liked Darby a lot but one draft pick will not convince the Pegulas to let him manage a billion dollar organization. No way. If they don't make playoffs but play well Whaley and Rex are both back. Win 8 or less games and they are both gone.
  2. A slow but tough Boldin could be good for this team. Provide some much needed leadership on offense and maturity to the WR group.
  3. Don't think this has been mentioned, but how about tell Stevie Johnson to look the ball all the way in and secure the OT game winning pass!!! Bills win that game they probably make the playoffs
  4. I would take less and hold a clipboard for 16 games. What is the point for him? Why risk a long term injury?
  5. Biggest fallacy in NFL... mobile QBs avoid sacks. Michael Vick is the fastest human to play QB ever. He was sacked a ton. Quick decision making and ability to slide in the pocket is what matters. Aaron Rodgers is the perfect combination of intelligence and athleticism. But any day any game intelligence wins in the pocket over speed.
  6. Penalty enforecment probably refers to placement of the ball. If the coach thinks a PI occurred at the 28 yard line but it is spotted at the 23 yardline. Or the ref walks off 10 yards for holding but started at the wrong LOS. I can see your point about the quick snap. If coaches like Rex try to rush guys on the field when then offense doesn't change personnel they may encourage the offense to quick snap more often. The rules are pretty clear about giving the defense a chance to sub if the offense subs. What NE did with their player, I think it was Chandler, was to have him start coming on the field and then go back before getting in the huddle. It simulated a personnel change. I don't see from this list that this tactic would be able to be reviewed as the player was off the field at the time of the snap.
  7. Shaq's role is to be a three down hybrid OLB/DE. Manny can't do that nor can Freeney. But the two together might be nice. Manny plays OLB in the base 3-4 and Freeney plays DE in the nickel and dime packages. It is never that simple but what other options do they have for DE in any four DL set?
  8. It's fair to say Clay might be a top 15 TE. The backups would be hard pressed to make most if not all other rosters. OP's point is well taken. But RT, LB, and S are still bigger concerns to me.
  9. I can't see Jones beating out EJ for second string and cutting EJ does nothing for the salary cap. That means the Bills will carry three QB's and two kickers on the 53 man roster. That is a waste of two spots. I think they only keep 5 WR this year and hope one of the DB's can be the gunner. The 3rd - 8th WR are basically interchangeable and mostly dreadful. With a mostly veteran line I think they will also carry one less offensive lineman. Need to upgrade Carpenter next year. What are your thoughts?
  10. He will be the best CB on the market and will get top dollar. The only leverage the Bills have is fear of injury and the franchise tag. I'm sure Whaley is willing to pay top dollar for 2016. Just not sure he is willing to go much beyond and set the market for 2017. He can't commit to TT just yet. Best hope is a training camp deal. If not then they tag TT if he proves he is the franchise QB and likely lose Gilmore. If TT is average then they tag Gilmore and roll the dice with TT knowing other QB's might be available.
  11. Poor Eric Striker. Went from beloved to potentially hated in only a couple days - all while never having stepped on the field. Everyone hates me on this board already anyways so I figured I would add more fuel to the fire...in a fun way. Just fun guys. Vietnamese fish sauce wings are as good or better than Buffalo wings. For those of you who have had them, please tell the others who have not how awesome they are. I'm am more of a sweet and savory guy (IN more ways than one) than a hot sauce kind of guy. If you have not had a chance to try good fish sauce wings, please do.
  12. Watkins and Gilmore Honorable mention for Darby as top 3 rookie. No way Mario makes it. Dareus probably not based on his play last year. He is a top 50 talent, top 5 DT, but the whole defense including him took a huge step back.
  13. Well Vegas gives virtually no points per game for almost any player other than a QB. The rest are interchangable parts including the great ones. I think Watt moved the spread 1 or two points. No way a rookie LB has a 7 point effect on a game. I'm just hoping for a solid upgrade over Brown and Bradham.
  14. Great news!!! He is a solid LT. Now go sign Gilmore. Then let TT earn the franchise tag. If he plays like a franchise QB this year, he gets paid. If not they can move on. Gilmore is the priority. Seattle did the same thing. They signed their secondary guys and then made Wilson earn his big contract.
  15. Let's say Ragland is even better than Harris but not as good as Lewis. The more important question is has Rex kept up with the modern NFL? He was embarrassed by Brady once and then Rex adjusted quite nicely. Who hasn't been torched by Lucifer himself. Wade has adjusted nicely from team to team. Can Rex do the same? Why did he have to change the entire defense instead of just adding a few of his own concepts? Now he is dumbing it down for his players. Will that translate into more aggressive play or will it just be easier for Brady et al to carve them up. I think last year was more about injuries than it was about the scheme. Add Mario quitting on the team and it was a disaster. Look for a bounce back year by the defense. Just need TT, Watkins, and Clay to stay healthy.
  16. Miller was below average but not worthy of getting benched before the injury. I posted then that he should have been put on IR after he got hurt. Made no sense to have him play a quarter or so and then go back to the bench. He should be much better this year. Jury is still out on Henderson. If he comes back healthy he will probably win the job. I would have rather they had drafted an OT than Jones or Williams. Maybe that is a sign Henderson is on the road to recovery.
  17. If Ragland can play some nickel snaps, and does as well as we hope then he should be in the mix for DROY. If he gets half the nickel snaps he might get 80+ tackles.
  18. Size and speed. I don't see the Goodwin or Harvin comparisons though. They are smurfs compared to this guy. A good coach and a year or two of practicing NFL routes and maybe he can be a good #2. If he can really run this fast, I would play him as the number 3 with Woods in the slot.
  19. Didn't the Bills have the same injury issues at WR as they did at RB last year? Playing guys off the PS and that had been signed off the street. They have much more depth at RB now than they do at WR. Maybe they pick up a veteran WR off waivers.
  20. Two picks to move 8 spots. If Whaley is right, then it is a bargain to give up for a LB that fits Rex's defense. If Ragland isn't on the field for 60% of the defensive snaps (that is the % of nickel and dime formations) then it's a waste of two picks. I think we will know by week four. Cardale has a cannon but is a 2-3 year project. TT is fragile. EJ is still the best option as back-up sadly - and yes I was an EJ guy.
  21. Agree - Spiller had the worst vision. He was a terrible RB. Great athlete. Not a football player.
  22. I agree with everything you said. Your opinion is perfectly valid. I guess mine is not. A WR or safety is just as likely or more likely to play ST's especially since the best ST player they had will likely not play again after his knee injury.
  23. Wrong. I am quite happy with Lawson. I have been a Whaley supporter. He deserves the benefit of the doubt but the last three picks don't help this year. They need a WR, a SS, and an OT. Not another RB.
