Dennis Thurman Calling Defense on Game Days
Dragonborn10 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh please this is such a joke. Ryan said himself there are like 5 choices for every down and distance. Anyone of us could randomly and quickly pick from a list of five choices already knowing the down and distance +/- what offensive grouping the other team puts out there. Ryan said it is his defense. His brother and Thurman probably do have input - maybe even a great deal of input, but Rex has the final say what is on that sheet of play calls. -
CJ Spiller visiting Jets (Update - cut by Seattle)

Air pollution is worse in NYC. I'm told Spiller started wheezing after the plane landed. -
Guess Schwartz's next home
Dragonborn10 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought Chip Kelly to the SEC was a given the moment he left Oregon for the NFL. He is an arrogant SOB, terrible with the media, and is not the genius innovator people claim he is. That only works in college where the HC controls everything. It doesn't work in the NFL except in New England where Belichick has Brady and for short runs like Harbaugh. If Schwartz wants a HC job I think he will have offers. Perhaps he is content to be a DC. I don't see him coming back to Buffalo. -
I think Schwartz will end up with the Chargers. But I also think Chip Kelly will leave for LSU making the 49ers a possibility.

Incognito Brown duo played well too

Very happy for Aaron Williams

I'm not sure AW was great in coverage today. I thought Graham had the best game in the secondary and could have had two INT's as well. -
Where was this Defense Backfield last week?
Dragonborn10 replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jets WR's are much better than the Cardinals and the Bills got pressure today. Sometimes it was with just four and other times it was with the Rex Ryan blitzes we ahev been waiting 19 games for. -
Interim HC for the remainder of the year Chip Kelly will be the HC in 2017

Incognito just destroyed his man in that TD run -
Time to see what Cardale can do?
Dragonborn10 replied to CSBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cardale has better chance of playing TE than QB in the NFL. Terrible draft selelction and a waste of a pick. -
Bills Kim gun ran 10 plays. Their run game was counter right and left. If simple means multiple WR screens a game which require no read I'm all for it. Just get the ball to Sammy, Clay, and McCoy

I was wrong, and I don't mind saying it..

I am in general agreement that Rex and the entire organization is ass-backwards. It is a passing league. Brady and Belichick throw the ball three straight plays against us to kill the clock. Rex has not evolved. His defense is built to stop the run but is also built to play with the lead. He has not been able to have a consistently good offense to keep his defense fresh and able to attack the offense. If TT and the new OC can string some first downs together the defense will be better. They will be better with Dareus and Lawson. And they will beat Carson Palmer this week. Very difficult for a west coast team to travel back and play early - even if it is only to two hours different. We are going to see Woods catch 6 balls and Clay another 5. Offense is going to dink and dunk and keep the Cardinals off-balance. TT will run. Bills by 4 but it won't be that close. -
5-2 heading into rematch with Brady
Dragonborn10 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does Sully have multiple TBD memberships? No way the Bills drop this next game. There is too much pride and emotion. They are going to steam roll the Cardinals with 175 on the ground. Pats game will be tense the entire way but the Bills win a close game up by 4. The trap game is the Rams. Super good defense. Long road trip. -
5-2 heading into rematch with Brady
Dragonborn10 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sober. If they aren't 5-2, I will not post again until they fire Rex. After they win the next two, I'm heading down to LA from Portland. I will be in Italy for San Fran and Miami so I will leave it up to the rest of you to make sure they complete the 5 game streak. After Ollie makes the second free throw - and you will make it - get back on defense. -
Bills end Marino's TD streak. I was in the stands. The crowd went nuts when they pulled Marino. Second best. Biscuit's first game. Buffalo vs Denver and Elway. Again I was there. First two plays they lined up Biscuit opposite of Bruce. Third play they moved Biscuit to Bruce's side. Elway just looked over and called time-out. Priceless. Third - Bills Jets goalposts. I was there too. Not on the goal posts but my head is in the picture. Crazy long story about holding cameras for SI and much more

To be any good TT has to make plays with his legs
Dragonborn10 replied to ....lybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Modern NFL. Let the kid run. Good things happen when the QB breaks contain. Yes he doesn't have the size of Newton but he is faster and usually slides to avoid contact. I disagree that he can't be effective without running. I think he just needs more time but until then he can win by running the ball. Why should his development be any different or held to a different standard than everyone's golden child, Russell Wilson??? -
Yeah I'm the guy that said the season is over with a loss to the Jets. And the stats/odds are stacked against us. But this time it is different. The Bills will win 5 straight and will be the talk of the NFL going into the rematch with the Partiots.

The Bills vs Brissett -Win or Fire Rex
Dragonborn10 replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
0-4 and a loss to Patriots with a third string rookie and Rex is gone. However after that game the Bills will be 2-2 and we still won't have any idea if they are any good or not. -
Owners met with players WITHOUT Rex before Roman let go
Dragonborn10 replied to GottaRun's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not allowing star QB to do what makes him a star. Late play calls. No two minute offense. No audibles. I'm going to believe Rex wanted Roman gone and owners wanted to confirm. Still looks bad for Rex and Whaley -
Against Arizona, If Past is Prologue
Dragonborn10 replied to jumbalaya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Option 22 Bills up by two with a minute left. A roughing the passer penalty against Hughes while Palmer was attempting to block Hughes on a WR reverse. Rex is called for a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty for arguing the call placing the ball at the 12 yard line. Arizona PK hits the upright Duke Williams called for lining up in the neutral zone Arizona kicks again and wins by 1 -
Star WR needs targets - he wasn't getting them. Some on here call him a complainer but it is just true. He is the best talent on the team and they need to get him the ball. 15+ targets a game. Whaley and to some degree Rex, have their careers riding on Taylor and Sammy. Whaley gave up a first round pick for a guy who is being out produced by two players he could have had by just staying in his draft spot. Rex has the label of never being able to develop a QB. Pegs already intervened with the Rex hire and not letting Whaley release FJ when he wanted. This was not all Rex's decision. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I think Rex is overthinking his own defense. He said he was afraid to pressure because the coverage wasn't holding up. Isn't that the reason to keep bringing the pressure? If you pressure the ball needs to come out quicker, the DB's have to cover for a shorter period of time, and the throws are shorter. Our DB's tackle well. On top of that, the well known book on Fitz is he will screw it up if he has to make decisions too quickly, anticipate too much, or is under pressure by game circumstances or by the pass rush. Carson Palmer is a statue back there just like Flacco. Rex had better dial up blitzes from all over the place. It is ok to give up a few big plays if your defense makes some too. An INT or sack fumble more than overcomes several 20+ yard passes. Every QB in this league, even the back-ups will beat you if you rush three and have the weapons that the Jets have. Go back to basics Rex. As Mario said, just go after the QB. It doesn't need to be this difficult. I'm ok with some defensive trickery from time to time, every coordinator does it, but the base defensive philosophy should be attack the QB at all times.
