  1. Second round steal! Doesnt take much to see a player drop. Not really. Hitting the head and trying to injure defenseless guys is a penalty. Very few weak unnecessary roughness calls this year.
  2. Says he wanted to win. But he didn't because his defense sucks. Will never get a HC job again unless it is a lower tier college job
  3. Kromer is probably capable but may not fit the new system. It would ne nice to know if Smith did a capable job as a ST assistant. If you keep the ST coordinator one would seem the staff for STs would remain. But if she were not a woman no one would notice a ST assistant getting fired. I applaud Rex for his hiring diversity and if she did a capable job, hope she gets another opportunity. Reed probably gets an Incomplete grade as injuries limited the secondary. But there seemed to be a great deal of communication issues. My god the defense can't be that complex to teach. Perhaps it is really dumb players, but releasing McKelvin likely raised the collective IQ by 20 points. However maybe Reed is just not a good coach/communicator.
  4. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18581054/greatest-quarterbacks-all-ranking-john-clayton-picks-tom-brady-new-england-patriots-best-nfl-qb-ever Don't see how Bradshaw and Starr make it over Aikman, Brees, or even Fouts. I would put Kelly behind Aikman and Brees, but ahead of Fouts, Bradshaw, and Starr. Young is rated much too low. Otto Graham and maybe even Unitas should get an asterisk or just be on a separate list. They played in a far different era than the QB's of the SuperBowl era. Yes I know Unitas played in two SuperBowls but he was mostly injured and awful by the.
  5. I agree and no revisionist history from me. It is difficult to compare QB's from different eras. Anyone think Bradshaw would thrive in this era? I don't think so. I hold firm on Montana and Brady as 1 and 2 and I believe Manning choked in the playoffs. Don't care about his passing records. Call him best regular season QB if you want but he is not in my top four and I could make arguments for a few others being ahead of him.
  6. I would try to keep all three even though Lorax probably doesn't fit this defense well. But he can be a star on ST's again. Franchise Gilmore. Make Brown a good offer. He probably will get a better offer elsewhere and will be the hardest to bring back. I would cut P. Brown and use that money to bring back Z. Brown. My hunch though is that unless they franchise Gilmore, all three will be gone.
  7. Wow and I thought he was overrated for the HOF. 6 years for both? Do they know these are guaranteed contracts? Someone should have the owner call the payroll office to remind him of the checks still being sent to their last two HC's.
  8. If Williams is gone and Hooker is there, it will be another run to the table scenario. He is an ideal NFL safety. As you said fills a need but would be BPA if still available at 10. Best hope is there is a run on QB's early and they Bills just sit back and wait for the real talent to drop to them
  9. If everything you say is true, then why did Roger burn the tapes? Why did Mangini turn them in? Mangini must have felt it offered some advantage? I think there is more to the story on those tapes. But it doesn't change my mind, Brady is second best QB ever.
  10. Wouldn't it be nice if we had an extra draft pick in the top 3 rounds to draft a RT or an extra TE? Stop wasting picks Whaley!!!!
  11. He is partially to blame for the DCs he hired. The talent wasn't there but changing DCs year after year was on him. The game didn't pass him by. Watch the Patriots. They attack the short zones just like Chan did. His only problem is he didn't have a WR that could hit the homerun every once in a while to force the zones to drop a bit further.
  12. Easy decision. Franchise him and make him work for another contract. He is a top CB. Maybe he isn't top 4 but he is top 10. Bills cant let talent walk out the door. Byrd and Spiller were never that good. Those were good decisions. Levitre yes, but not for the money he signed for. You signed TT last year so you could limit the number of players worthy of a tag. Now just see your strategy through. Tag him work on an extension. If he doesn't sig force him to play under the tag. Is that bad for a CB? Get beat. Come back the next play. They all get beat every year.
  13. 1. He would be 3-3 right now if Seattle had given the ball to Lynch 2. Maj, I agree the salary cap era is a factor but so is the change is rules for the defense. You think Gronk would be so successful if Lott could do to him what he did to WR/TE in the 80's and 90's. 3. Montana in this era would be even greater than he was. My god, could you imagine Marino and that release in this era. For me it is still Montana, followed closely by Brady, Elway, Young, Manning, Favre, Marino, Rodgers, Brees, and then perhaps Aikman. Manning was terrible in the post-season.
  14. Why all the negativity about Sammy? He has missed only a handful of games. He is a great talent. Other WR's have had the same injury and played great. He will be fine. I would love M. Williams or Davis playing next to him. Is it a bit of insurance sure. Motivation for Sammy - yes. Also plans for the future if they can't pay for Watkins.
  15. RT will be a second tier FA or draft pick. Money in FA will be spent on Gilmore, Z. Brown, a safety, and a WR. If they let Gilmore walk and A. Williams retires, then they will spend heavy on the defensive secondary.
  16. Do you consider Seattle, Denver, Dallas, and Pittsburgh modern football? I too want a more potent passing attack. I too don't want to rely on Watkins and TT bombs. But you can win a lot of games with a ground attack leading the way. Not the way I would do it, but you can not say it doesn't work.
  17. Could you imagine McCoy, Watkins, Clay, Howard, and a FA WR? They could run two TE all game and run or pass from any formation. The defense would have to stay in their base. If they went nickel McCoy would run for 200. That said although they would not be a laughing stock, I would run to the podium for them for Williams at 10.
  18. Davis would be fine at 10. Howard probably is best picked at 15-20. They are both first round picks so unless you want to give up a second and next years number 1 they aren't getting both. Bills only have 6 picks thanks to Whaley and Ragland. Trade back from 10 unless Williams or one of the top 2 safeties fall to 10 (could happen if three QBs taken in top 9) and pick up an extra second round pick.
  19. It is true to some degree. Bills fan know more about Marrone than he does. We know he is gutless and has thin skin. We know about St. Doug and poor relationship with Whaley. However we really don't have any insight into McDermott either yet. Or any of the other new coaches. We really don't even know much about Lynn as a HC. I think we take issue with factual errors that get perpetuated at the national level but this is probably true for other markets and their loyal fan bases.
  20. You realize the Pats are going back to the SuperBowl because of the #1 scoring defense in the NFL The Bills need a complete rebuildof the secondary if AW and Gilmore are not brought back and even if both come back they are still short a safety and a LB or two. Depending on FA, they Bills could draft a WR at 10 and then draft defense the rest of the way
  21. Finished medical school, finished training, got married, had two kids, moved four times in the same city, took up woodworking as a hobby, travelled to Europe 5 times, buried my dad, half my hair turned grey, gained and lost 100 pounds, ran a half marathon, and drank a lot of really really good wine
  22. SuperBowl LI looks like a remake of SuperBowl XXV. Atlanta has the offense comparable to the Bills. Their defense is ok, getting better, and young. The Giants and Pats will both be led by Lord Vader. He will try to take away Jones just like he took away Reed. Atlanta doesn't have the running game to beat the Pats fron seven. However the rules have changed and I'm not sure even the dark lord will be able to slow down Jones and company. Can Ryan stay calm and patient? Can Atlanta bring pressure with just four? Should be a classic.
  23. I was 6. Barely remember it. Lived in Tonawanda. I do remember only being able to get our of the house from a second story window. The snow drifts were above the front door.
  24. I'm not arguing with your point. Moslty agree. However WR # 2 play was not the top reason for the losses today. In fact I thought #17 for the Steelers made some plays as did D. Williams; and Cobb for Green Bay was ok. Green Bay - 1. Defense. 2. Defense 3. O-line 4. No running game 5.Red zone turn-overs Pittsburgh 1. Defensive backfield 1a. Defensive scheme - Brady eats zones alive. W/o Gronk you should play them man to man. Brady is no threat to run. 2. Injury to Bell 3. Drop by # 83 in end-zone - 3rd WR but goes to your point 4. No credible TE threat.
