  1. Good teams don't draft to fill immediate needs. They draft based on the grade of a player and to build for the future. If there is an absolute need to be filled but another player is rated higher then trade down or pick him. Minnesota drafted Peterson despite having just signed a FA RB because Peterson fell to them and his draft grade was much higher than where he was chosen. There are many other examples and of course there are a ridiculous number of reaches on the current Bills roster to prove drafting for need is foolish. In addition, Fitz is not the long term answer. No one knows if Gabbert is the solution at QB, but this may be the best opportunity to change the entire fate of the franchise if he is the solution. This draft is so deep in front 7 defenders that immediate impact starters are likely to be found in the second and third rounds especially if there is a late run on WR's, RB's, and/or OL in the first round.
  2. I'm still laughing. Again what amazes me is why the women stay? And I agree why do they bother getting married? Athletes/actors/singers why get married? No one cares if you have a kid out of wedlock. Why give up millions to get married?
  3. What a joke! Cheats on his wife for years likely while she was at home caring for their terminally ill son and seeks forgivenss after finding Jesus. Only in America can people be dumb enough to fall for that line of crap. Why is it these women fall for this bull ****? Kudos to Elin Woods for taking the money and telling Tiger to get lost.
  4. 1. Gabbert 2. Miller 3. Quinn
  5. Why do you assume that the QB or DL won't be the best player available? The only players with a better draft grade than Gabbert and Dareus are likely Peterson and maybe Green. I hope Peterson slips past Denver. If he does I think Dallas will give up a mountain of draft picks to get him. St. Louis might even give up a decent amount to move past Cincinnati to pick Green. To me Gabbert is the only lock of a pick at 3 if he is there. In every other scenario I would trade down.
  6. You realize that the starting NG was an alternate to the ProBowl so I think everyone would agree having drafted a NT last year, it would be unwise to add another NT this year. I think everyone would agree a DE that can move down to DT from time to time like Dareus has value at 3. A dynamic pass rusher at 3 would be wise because as you correctly point out Merriman, Moats, and Maybin are crap shoots. What I think you are saying best however is the Bills suck. I think we all know that. Marv Levy destroyed this team. They were a borderline playoff team until Donahoe decided to take gambles with Parrish and McGahee. Had those been OL/DL picks this team would be much better. Levy followed with a tenure that was worse than Matt Millen's. Years of bad drafts have come to roost and without a superstar QB to cover-up the faults of the rest of the team - well we are what we are. Give Nix a chance to undo what has been done. There are a few pieces there. Much more to do.
  7. I second that draft board. I agree with the depth in the draft along the defensive front 7 I would take Gabbert at 3 and then get defenders later. If Gabbert isn't there at 3 then I trade down with someone who wants Newton and stockplie picks this year and next. Draft at least two DE's and two LB's.
  8. First our needs may be different than the draft strategy. What is needed to win games in 2011 is likely to be diffent than what is needed for a Championship. To win games in 2011 it seems simple to me - stop the run, rush the passer, block better. Therefore front 7 defenders starting with an OLB follwed by a DE are what is needed. Next is a RT and TE. The RT may already be on the roster and the TE may be gotten in FA. To win a championship - they need to take a chance on a QB. Fitz is not going to win a SB unless the defense is elite. While I'm not a buyer on Newton, I would take Gabbert at 3.
  9. Minnesota is the sweet spot. It is not too far to fall and still get Quinn or Jordan. Even if players are not involved in the trades, as it will look like unless the injunction is won by the players and it enforces the old CBA on the owners, there is still plenty that Minn could give up to move up. Ideally it would be an extra second rounder, but if not I would take a third and next years 1st. Let's face it this team is more than one draft away. Adding another 1st rounder in 2012 may be the best option. It is highly likely there will be a rookie salary scale fro first rounders in the new CBA - it was the only thing the league and union agreed. Therefore having two number ones next year is not as big of a deal financially as it once was. Plus it allows even more trades in 2012 like what the Pats do year in and year out(thank god they have not drafted that well).
  10. How about a different Big Ten QB - Ricky Stanzi. He has the size 6'4" 225lbs. I believe he is a four year starter although he didn't start immediately his Freshman year. He has a quick release. He is not particularly fast. He has missed time due to injury. He has played in a bunch of big games, great Orange Bowl game against Georgi Tech(I believe coached by Chan) and was up for a number QB awards. He had a bad senior bowl week and accuracy issues at the combine. His Pro day was apparently much better.
  11. Pretty sure Lewis was franchised by the Jags.
  12. Thanx for the tip. I posted a long time ago asking what would be the surprise training camp cut as there always is one. My choice was Moorman. Maybin wouldn't be a surprise. Evans was the consensus surprise cut amongst the posters.
  13. All this does is allow them to draft one more guy they would have signed as an unrestricted FA anyways. Alot of those guys are being contacted when the 6th and 7th rounds are going on and they have deals in place within hours of the draft. In all honesty I would use this extra pick to justify taking a punter with a 6ht or 7th round pick. Moorman was average at best last year and had some real shakey kicks. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring someone in who can boom it to give him a run for his spot. More likely though it will be used on a FB.
  14. If recent past repeats itself Luck will be barely draft worthy by next year. Brohm fell from sure number one overall to second round then out of the league. Locker went from possible first overall to at best second round and some on here think he is not worthy of a draft pick. If in your scenario however Luck is still the consensus best player and we have already drafted Gabbert and Fitzy was good enough to keep Gabbert on the bench, then you trade down. If Luck is that good then there will be plenty of teams who want him. And if the Bills are that bad to finish dead last but yet not bad enough at the QB position to bench Fittz and play Gabbert there must be plenty of other places of need.
  15. Did you even read the article? Gailey said He needed to get Evans to run other non-deep routes. That sounds like a play calling issue. Honestly who in their right mind thinks Evans doesn't run underneath routes if he is asked to do so? And why would people think he can't? He turns fairly well, has very good hands though good for 1-3 drops a year while making some crazy good cathes, and until some dumb meathead TE landed on his ankle he has been fairly healthy. Leave the WR corp alone. BS. If you think Evans is not a complete player, what do you think Easley will be? He was a 2 year project before he got hurt.
  16. Isn't that the same trick Randy Moss used for years? How about Deshaun Jackson - that is all he does? Agree Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald are more complete recivers. However there is no point taking a point of strength and making it a weakness when there are so many others on this team. Evans, Johnson, Nelson, Parrish and whomever else is a nice group. Uses draft picks on defenders and another TE.
  17. Bills had their chance to take him before why would they want him now? The Bills need that 6th rounder to be a developmental center, cb, or lb.
  18. Good point! When the Pats trade down every year and get more picks they simply increase their chances of getting a good player. Thankfully they have actually drafted fairly poorly of late with the exception of Mayo. Contrast that with Marv's approach to give away draft picks gained from decent player trades to move up and draft the likes of Poz and McCargo. It's easy to see why the Bills are who we are....
  19. As in all things it depends. If Gabbert is there I say take him but if the FO isn't sold on him then I would trade down in a NY minute to get extra picks and front 7 defenders. In addition I would be happy to trade down all the way to 12. A move that far may bring an additional second round pick and a #1 next year. That would be a kings ransom. If the Vikings want to jump that high to get Newton/Gabbert I set let them pay the price. Either Quinn, Watt, or Jordan and maybe tow of those three will be available. There is a good chance 2 QB's, 2 CB's, and 2 WR's go in the top 11. That still leaves Dareus, Miller, Bowers, and Fairley to come off the board in the top 11.
  20. Last year there was all kinds of talk about a run on QB's in the second and third rounds. It didn't happen because QB's can't do anything else for your team. They can't play special teams, return kicks, snap, or back up multiple positions. The middle rounds should be dominated by lineman, LB's, and WR's. The run on QB's may start in the 4th with Locker, Ponder et al. Wait for Locker in the 4th or if we trade down and pick up an extra third rounder then use that on Locker.
  21. Jordan, Quinn or Watt would be my choice in any trade down scenario that drops the Bills to 7-12. There may be two QB's, two WR's, and two CB's taken along with the Fairley, Bowers, Miller, Dareus(not guaranteeing the previous three won't be drafted before this group) in the top 10. There are so many front 7 defenders that are all basically the same it screams for a trade down with some team dumb enough to want Newton at 3.
  22. Didn't Jason Taylor look the same? To me Maybin's failure is not size related. It's the fact he seems to have no football instincts. He has exceptional striaght line speed but has no idea how to use it. He takes the wrong angle to ball carriers and has yet to develop the ability to change direction while pass rushing. Common sense would say he is a bust at this point, but I worry that a better coaching staff would get more production out of him.
  23. Not so fast my friend.... If the players win their injunction law suit then the NFL operates under the current existing CBA. It is conceivable with the time it could take to play out in the courts that the 2011 season is actually played using the current CBA. Give up the chance to take a franchise QB at 3 and instead pick a JC kid one year wonder at 7 and a project QB in the the third round? Now Cam Jordan at 7 and Ponder, Mallet, or Locker in the third - that would work.
  24. Someone will have to do their homework because I know Paul Allen owns both the Portland Trailblazers and the Seattle Seahawks.
