I just have a feeling this may be Spiller's breakout game. They will try to limit Freddie with 8 in the box knowing that Revis can man up Stevei all day. Spiller will run at least one reverse from the WR spot. I say let Revis be Revis and use their tendencies against them. If you know he is going to man up Stevie on almost every play it will be that much easier for Fitz to read the defense. This game should be won by Jackson getting 80 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving along with a healthy dose of David Nelson and Scott Chandler over the middle. I like our 2nd. 3rd, and 4th receiving options over their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cover guys. Also this might be the week to move the pocket a bit. Fitz doesn't throw well on the run but he does move well. I would give him a few run/pass options plays to get their LB's moving the wrong way and maybe get Spiller in the open. I fear the Jets passing game more than most apparently. We still can't cover a TE after 60+ years in the league. Sanchez has three decent targets and they can still play action us to death. Barnett should help in coverage as he is so much better than Poz ever was. I would rush Dareus from the NT position and stunt Moats up the middle or send Sheppard up the middle on an inside blitz. Pressure is worst for a QB up the middle. Sanchez is a decent athlete but he is not going to kill us with his legs so I don't fear him getting out of the pocket. They need to keep their emotions in check. This defense is out to prove something and will be flying to the ball. That makes me worry they will be susceptible to cut backs, reverses, and misdirection plays. Need to stay home and not give up the big play.

Don Banks Midseason Report: Surprise.....
Dragonborn10 replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes but this same leadership team started Trent Edwards over Fitz, Lynch and Spiller over Jackson, kept Brohm on the roster for an entire year, and failed to move Wood to his natural position...just sayin it takes them a while to get it done... -
Brad Smith - Are we using him correctly?
Dragonborn10 replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's dropped as many balls that he has caught which may explain why he has gotten limited opportunities. It also says something that Spiller is getting WR reps and not him. That being said another poster is correct that there are other plays that can be run out of the Wildcat. I'm just waiting for him to throw it again - I know he has an INT already. I'm thinking the same play Fred Jackson threw to Lee Evans against KC or a double crossing pattern with Chandler short and Nelson deeper. -
Everything FRED JACKSON

Odd?? Kind of looks black and white to me.... -
It's all fun until he drops a game winning TD pass in OT...

Chan has now been asked a few times about Stevie's playful nature and responded "he has too much time on his hands". I know it is hard not to be yourself and if he is a funny guy then he should be himself. But for a guy who wants a contract extension I would not want my head coach thinking I am not putting the time and effort into preperation. I'm not saying that is what Chan is saying but I still wouldn't want to take a chance if I was a 7th round draft pick looking for the contract that will set me up for life.

Biggest Game of the Season
Dragonborn10 replied to Pirate Angel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Win this game and I think the playoffs are a lock. With the momentum of a win over the Jets we sweep Miami, beat Denver, and take down either Dallas or San Diego on the road. The only scare is losing out on tie breakers to the Bengals - I would never have imagined writing that sentence 2 months ago. They were playing 4-3 when Williams was there too. The difference was Merriman was playing DE with a bum shoulder and an ankle held together by string cheese. or the Dallas Monday night debacle... -
Not sure he will be healthy but the more they win without him the longer he can sit and rest.

Great blocking down-field for Jackson on the lone run. Is it just me or does Spiller look 10-15 lbs heavier and than last year? He looks much bigger on top. Still holding out hope he will be good but with Freddie running and catching like this how do you not keep giving him the rock...

I know it's early but Next year's draft ...
Dragonborn10 replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Were you watching Bills games? -
Most definately! The factor that will be hard to prove is how much his presence made Bruce Smith that much more dangerous. Right or wrong, correct or incorrect, he and Lofton seemed to be the two players that propelled the Bills from a playoff team to a SuperBowl contender. If Fred Smerlas could have lasted just a few more years....

Give Merriman a Chance Next Summer?
Dragonborn10 replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not he won't get paid until week 1? In fact he could be a late traingin camp cut to avoid him getting a guarantteed full salary and bring him back for week 2. Little downside to bringing him back. Draft OLB in round 1 has got to be the plan. -
Pats surprise and release DB Leigh Bodden...
Dragonborn10 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills don't play NE for two months and judging by the intellect of most NFL DB's he won't have much insight into the Patriots by then if ever.... -
New Game: Pick the Sullivan Column

Never liked Sully's tone, but when the team has been so bad for this long how can you accuse the guy for writing mostly negative columns??? -

I love you man!!! Nothing worse than the 45 year old guy who stopped maturing at 17... -
Do you think fans make a difference? It is corporate dollars that will or will not decide if Buffalo has a team after RW dies. We are irrelevant in the decision as fans. Goodbye Buffalo Hello LA
-
Many people wanted an OLB in the 2011 draft and I suspect if Von Miller was available at 3 he would have been the pick.
-
I think most people are neglecting how bad their offensive line is. One need look no further than the Bilsl to see what at least a competent(pre-LT injury) O-line has done for Buffalo this year. And it really is bad drafting and not necessarily forgetting about the line on draft day. They have drafted 9 O-lineman since 2006 and 4 were in the first or second round. One might say with some merit that they have wasted picks on luxury players like Anthony Gonzalez and Donald Brown but they haven't completely ignored the offensive line. Just bad drafting. Simple as that. A few bad drafts and all of a sudden you are an aging team susceptible to injury at key positions with little depth.

Maybin has 0.5 less sacks than our entire team

Yes I would take him back over an injured Merriman at this point? Would you? -
4-3 or not 4-3, that is the question...
Dragonborn10 replied to XrazyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are few teams, maybe with Kansas City being the only one, that play an exclusive 3-4 defense. When the opponent using 3 or more WR's and we are in a nickle or dime defense they switch to a 4 man line. Those 4 players have mostly been two DT's, Kelsay, and Merriman. With as bad a Merriman has been and Kelsay being well Kelsay that is why we are horrible at getting to the QB. No matter 3-4 or 4-3 we simply do not have the OLB's to rush the passer. I suspect had Denver not taken Von Miller and AJ Green instead we would have taken Miller over Dareus. -
Skins and both Jets games will be losses along with the Cowboys, Pats, and unfortunately the Chargers(even though I still plan to go to the game). They sweep the Dolphins. I see 4-6 down the stretch with an outside chance at 5-5.

All Time Underappreciated Bills
Dragonborn10 replied to st. pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talley is on the wall. And while I'm sure others would disagree I don't think he should be. I think he was an average LB playing behind one of the best DE's to ever play the game. He wasn't even the best OLB on the team. And his play in the SuperBowl against the Giants was so bad, he is one of the main reasons they lost. Cribbs was a great player. Had RW paid him there may not have been back to back 2-14 seasons and Ground Chuck may have stayed longer. Ruben Brown went to 8 ProBowls with the Bills - hard to say he was underapprecaited by the national media or other players. He is only underappreciated in Buffalo. That Still have no idea why he didn't get the love from Bills fans that say Wolford (even though he totally screwed us), House Ballard, and Rithcer did. He missed. That is all that matters. He was kicking in near perfect conditions and he missed. The kick would have been good from 55 yards at least. He tried to overcompensate and he missed. It is not too much of a stretch to say the future of the entire region may have been different if he makes that kick.
