  1. He isn't injured. His WR's are the worst collection in the NFL. How many other teams field a WR corp of a 7th round pick, a former QB, a current RB, and no less than 4 UDFA's or practice squad guys?
  2. 5-11... Face it they got lucky against the Raiders and Patriots. They were never as good as there early record. But after that start and before the injuries I let myself get excited. I looked at the rest of the schedule and though a sweep of the Dolphins, a split with the Jets and wins over Denver and Tennessee should get them into the playoffs. I actually was more worried about the loss to the Bengals coming back to haunt them in some tie-breaker keep them out of the playoffs heart break. Then the inuries... I still believe they were never as good as their early record but they found a way to win those game and if not for the injuries we would be talking playoff scenarios and tie-breakers today instead of the 2012 draft.
  3. Paid attendance was somewhere around 55,000. Hard to say we are the greatest fans in the NFL with that turnout. I live on the West Coast and did not make it back to a game this year so I am just as guilty as anyone for not supporting them.
  4. No one has ever questioned his effort. He has played great on special teams coverage units after he was demoted. I am not saying he will blossom to an all pro but there is no reason to give up on him yet. And just like letting Evans go made a deep WR corp suddenly thin, cutting McKelvin just creates another need when there are so many others in the front 7 and WR/TE positions.
  5. Simms is average but not annoying while Nantz bugs the **** out of me. Nantz is so god dam full of himself. I can't stand him. He is ten times worse when he is announcing golf especially the Masters.
  6. The fact it is an AFC East game is why the will try to win. If this game was against the Arizona Cardinals do you think Gailey and Nix risk Dareus or Spiller getting injured? The NFL changed the schedule to all divisional games with the hopes that games were important like the Giants/Dallas game or at a minimum there was a little bit of a rivalry and teams wouldn't completely lay down. Bills need to show they can compete with the Patriots on their field for their own psyche. The Pats defense is garbage. Stevie should want to show off for FA and NIx and company probably want CJ to look great to drive down Freddie's price. In short I can't see them not trying to compete. And in the long run a sweep of the Patriots does a lot more for this team than 4 or 5 draft spots.
  7. Seriously? DJ's teams always played hard. It was perhaps his only good quality as a coach.
  8. All the athletic ability in the world...If he could just learn to make a play on the ball he could still pan out. He has the feet, speed, and the hips to play well. Arrrgghhhhh...just learn to look for the ball at the tight time. Hope he is brought back next year.
  9. First of all the rookies are playing. Not so sure they are making an impact. That says more about how bad the veterans are and the injuries to veterans. Regardless it looks like the Dareus, Miller, and Green were can't miss players. Normally I always want to trade down but in this case have to give it to Nix that stying put and taking Dareus was the right move. Next year lets hope we a player like Mathews is available at our pick to get the pass rush this team so desperately needs.
  10. Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady...nobody traded to draft these guys
  11. Do the two issues have to be mutually exclusive? The coaches can suck and Maybin can be worthless as well. Even the Jets cut him. He appears to be mostly benefitting from having a better supporting cast around him. Is that praise for the Jets and Maybin or a wholesale indictment of the Bills FO and defensive staff??? The only issue I have with the whole Maybin debacle was why cut him this year. Merriman and his achilles could not have felt like a sure thing to last the year. The staff saw so little in Moats as an OLB they moved him to ILB. Kelsay plays adequately as a DE but is horrible as an OLB. The large part of his contract had already been paid and he is still so young. And how would he play with Dareus next to him at DE. Made no sense to cut him before the season started. In the end though, I think the Jets release him next training camp and his claim to fame will be he was marginally better than Vernon Gholston.
  12. For what it is worth he was 5-2 before the MASH squad was needed at One Bills Drive. They have a JV squad out there right now. If he refuses to fire Edwards then he needs to go. The entire defensive staff needs to go and start over.
  13. As already pointed out Merriman is already under contract and the Bills do not have a cap space issue. My question to you is what player's development would he be hindering? Surely no one on the current roster. And don't you think there would be some value having a high first round pick learn a few things from Merriman? BTW I agree with you on Parrish. He is a veteran minimum player at this point.
  14. Agree Poz was an acceptable pick for his draft position but you forget they gave up another draft pick to move up to get him. Marv screwed us twice by giving away picks to move up and draft players.
  15. I agree to a point. But they are playing a 4-3 now for the most part. Kyle Williams has no place to excel in a 3-4. He is too small for NT and too slow for DE. Troup might be the answer at NT but would rather see him in a rotation at DT. Williams now has zero trade value so he can't be used to upgrade DE or OLB in either scheme. The only problem is Sheppard may have no place except special teams in a 4-3 scheme. Just don't see him being a 4-3 MLB.
  16. Good chance he is let go from St. Louis. Fire Edwards and turn the defense over to Spags. I would switch back to a 4-3 and see what he can do with Williams and Dareus at DT's. Move Kelsay back to DE and play Arrington next to Dareus. Still need an OLB or two. We have the worst LB's in the league and Kelsay is serviceable at DE. Another poster recommended drafting 5 LB's. While that is extreme I would not be upset with 2 OLB and 1 MLB drafted this year(unless someone added in FA obviously).
  17. In the end Marv Levy's tenure as GM will look worse...
  18. Let's hope Cowher goes to Miami. He is terribly overrated. His teams consistently flopped in the playoffs and only with the help of the entire SuperBowl officiating crew did he final win one. His replacement is a better coach than he ever was. Lebeau was the true genius behind that team. Spitting, kissing your players, and sticking out your chin doesn't win games.
  19. $61 million contract is only as good as the next roster bonus due...Very few players except those on their rookie deals play out their entire contract. Look at the deal McNabb signed with Washington. When they extended his contract it was almost assured he wouldn't see the end of the deal. While I don't disagree that the FO will not take a QB high in the draft, it is not because of Fitz's contract. It probably has more to do with a rookie WR or OLB will be cheaper to sign than a rookie QB especially in the first round even with the current slotting system. And the team probably feels with a better/healthier WR corp Fitz will play better.
  20. He is a 3-4 ILB. He is not big enough nor does he have the range to play 4-3 middle LB. If they stick with the 3-4 and add a couple decent OLB's he may be a nice player for a while. Doesn't look nearly as good as Mayo with NE. That being said he already plays the run better than Poz and he is no worse in pass coverage.
  21. That is the best thought so far...This would likely force teams to kick to the goal line and try to make a tackle.
  22. As has been pointed out many times, FJ is already under contract for next year. No doubt he holds out at the time of training camp if a deal isn't done. The funny thing is the longer CJ starts and sucks the more FJ will want. nix should have extended him at mid-season. Pears signing was wise. There are only so many holes that can be addressed. If they re-up Bell then there are three starters(I didn't say great)signed to play OT next year. I would sign FJ and Bell. Franchise Stevie and make him prove it one more year. Sign a veteran WR in FA and draft another in the second round. Then draft OLB first round and third round. Add a true center, another TE, a DE, and a CB in the rest of the draft.
  23. Character is so freaking overrated - we are not talking Ryan Leaf destructive character. This team needs athletes. He is an All Pac10 CB with elite punt return abilities. Oregon has a history of producing quality DB's.
  24. Anybody that can go that fast and not wreck must have some skills...get err done
