  1. Giving up on Lynch, getting little in return, and then taking a RB in the first round looks bad. Nix and Gailey did a terrible job evaluating their incoming roster. Remember Edwards started at QB and Freddie was behind Lynch and maybe Spiller. Nix seems to have found his stride now and has a better understanding of what he has. If Spiller, Troupe, Hairston, Carrington, and Graham contribute he looks good. If Spiller looks lost again and Troupe/Carrington get cut it will be an entirely wasted draft.
  2. I preface this with I don't know what I am talking about, but some veteran salaries did not count against the salary cap in the previous CBA. It might have been only if you signed a guy to the veteran minimum. Not sure if that is still present in the current CBA, and it wouldn't apply to Freddie as he will be way over the veteran minimum - unless the league only counts the amount over the veteran minimum against the cap. You are negotiating against yourself in that scenario. Freddie is not worth that kind of money to the Bills and certainly nowhere close to that to other teams. No other team in the league will give him a long term deal, unless it is fake money like a 5 year deal that has a 6 million dollar roster bonus at the end of year two.
  3. Really? I'm excited to see him in the DT rotation coming off back surgery. I think he may be a nice surprise. I'm worried about Williams and his foot. I think they will limit his reps and Troupe and Heard and maybe Carrington(passing situations) will get some quality minutes in a rotation with Dareus.
  4. Why? I'm not trying to be an arss. I just don't get the Talley love. Bruce, Bennet, Hanson, Odomes, and maybe Conlan all were better players just on the defensive side of the ball. He was maybe the tenth best player on the team. He had his worst game at the worst time. He was horrible against the Giants in the SB.
  5. You are lucky you didn't find your picture on a milk carton...
  6. Favorites 1. Thurman - He made the K-gun go and he was the MVP of SB 2. Jerry Butler - with today's knee surgery outcomes he may have been a great one 3. Hull 4. Ferguson - for the San Diego ankle performancnothingthign else 5. Ted Marchibroda - the architect Honorable mention: Bruce, Kelly, Lofton, McKenzie, Ted Washington Least 5. Marv Levy - overrated HC and worst GM in Bills history 4. Talley - I don't know what the love affair is with the 5th or 6th best player on the defense that along with Jeff Wright lost SB XXV 3. Henry - nice job falling down against the Pats 2. Bledsoe - how do you let the team lose to Pittsburgh's scrubs 1. Norwood - he missed and I still can't get over it. His miss and McKinley getting shot are probably the two worst moments in Buffalo's history. Honorable mention: Kelly, McGahee, Donahoe, Reich
  7. So a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat???
  8. Reggie Wayne for a 2013 4th round pick that could become a 3rd based on production. The WR's on this team don't scare anyone - even Stevie. I think Wayne still has something left in the tank and the Colts are in full blown re-building mode. Wayne is better than Evans and this is better compensation than the Bills got for Evans. Wayne would be a serious upgrade of Jones and Nelson. I won't say if he ibetterer than Easlebecauseunobodydy knows what Easley will bring. The experience factor could also help keep Stevie in check.
  9. Now we know Florence is gone. McKelvin is likely safe. Carrington will be a DE. Merriman is an OLB in the 4-3. Either White or Choice will be cut. They will not carry 4 RB's. And Moorman will lose his job this Summer.
  10. Did you see Jason Peters running stride for stride at the end of that play...Dumbest move of the last 5 years not to pay him the money he deserved... Exactly...class move by Nix and also maybe a subtle show of support to McElvin
  11. Who is that? Easley? He has never played a down in the NFL and hails from U Conn. Graham? He could take longer to develop than Stevie did. Nelson - he is better suited as a split out TE than a WR. He is a career #4. The rest would be hard pressed to even make the Browns roster. Maybe there is a surprise cut for salary cap reasons somewhere. It is doubtful the Steeler would move Wallace now with the great draft they had. With Suggs injury and the new offensive lineman they have, they are legit SB contenders. If you read the intro, it was just the reverse order of a power ranking post draft.
  12. Well said...maybe in this smaller environment where the locker room atmosphere seems to be good he could flourish. Guys like SuperMario and Barnett could be good mentors for him.
  13. Couldn't you say that about almost every player on the team the last decade perhaps with the exception of Schobel???
  14. Totally agree. Kelsay is good for depth as a pass rushing DE. He seems to be good in the locker room from all we have heard. He may have been the worst OLB of all time but he is decent as a DE.
  15. Moats and Batten are as good as gone. Carrington may push Kelsay out of a job as well. It may end up being a numbers game. If they keep Scott and I suspect they will and then it will be a decison of how many DB's to keep vs an extra lineman. Tough decisions on the DB's. Do you give up on Rogers and/or McElvin in favor of experience with McGee and Florence? The two rookies and Williams along with Byrd, Searcy, and Wilson make 6 DB's already. Do they keep 8, 9, 10 DB's? I think with all the injuries last year they keep 9 and Rogers is the guy let go though I wouldn't be surprised if it is Florence. Would hate to see Kelsay go to the Pat's and be a Vrabel type with them...that would suck..
  16. Wow...now if two rookies and a second year player that got minimal playing time and was injured his rookie year was the defensive backfield the Bills were playing next week, I'm pretty sure the board would be predicting Johnson over 100 yards recieving and Easley getting his first TD. Somehow I don't think Marcia will be too scared of our DB's especially our safeties in converage be it man to man or in space. As always the pass rush will be the key.
  17. Grow up...they are all me first and if i was a 30+ running back looking for one last big pay day i would not risk getting hurt. Freddie can set himself up for life with one signature. This is a very tricky spot for Nix. He seems to do what he says so I see it getting done, but he can't hamstring his ability to reup Levitre, Byrd, and Wood either. Hopefully Freddie will realize his best chance at getting paid is with the Bills and his agent will be reasonable.
  18. On paper it looks good. However we have no evidence Wanny is a competent DC. The players are better and hopefully healthier this year. Also the season is only one injury away from disaster. If Fitz goes down all is lost. Yes you can say that about almost all teams but the backup QB situation in Buffalo is an unmitigated disaster.
  19. Matt Leinart has played reasonably well before getting injured. Not sure why they don't take a run at him. Just say no to Beck. Maybe Tavaris Jackson if he gets cut by Seattle? Are there really any other good options out there???
  20. Totally agree on Cowher. How many AFC Championships can u lose at home before you are called a fraud? His SB victory was a gift from the refs. Tomlin has done just as well. Cowher was not bad and he seemed to be consistently good, but he was never a great coach. LeBaeu was the the main difference maker. Too bad he chose Cincinnati as his HC opportunity.
  21. Everyone here in Oregon can't figure out why he left for the NFL. Everyone knew he wasn't ready. However he really would have been in the early Heisman discussion with the offense Chip Kelly runs here. A lot of people think he was in the coach's dog house maybe for drugs or something because it just made no sense for him to leave. LeMichael James yes he should have come out becasue another year of pounding would do him no good and he may have lost some carries to the great back-ups Oregon has. I would add a center. The guys they drafted can all play Guard so Jasper's days are numbered. Add a WR, a CB, another OLB, and go to sleep Buddy. Job well done!!!
  22. Kickers aren't on practice squads. Those spots are reserved for tackling dummies. In fact he is really no better than ice - both will be used to rest Lindell's leg in camp. When he gets cut after the third pre-season game he goes home kicks at his local high school and hopes a kicker tries to tackle somebody and gets hurt. No way he beats out Lindell.
