  1. How the hell did Klecko get 20.5 sacks as a DT/NT??? Amazing!
  2. If he was any good in the first half of that game and the first series of the second half, it wouldn't have been the greatest comeback. If the LB intercepts the ball that goes right through his hands the serie after Reich threw the pick six even Marv probalby would have given up at that point. How do you even decide who is best back-up QB of an era? And lastly how frickin sad is it that a Top Ten list of franchise QB's has a career back-up in the discussion!!! Might as well add Vince Young to the list now, because he was much more successful that Reich ever was as a starter. Don Majcowski(sp?) and Lynn Dickey were both better than Flynn
  3. How do you even put Reich on the list? He had one amazing less than half of a game.
  4. I was going to post that...I was there...Remember when Elway had to call time out? Wrong...the main reason was Reed, Thomas, and Talley hated Jim Kelly...Thurman said in an interview when asked what needed to change or somehting like that and he answered "Quarterback"
  5. Well said. It is interesting though that TV ratings are huge in LA because they get to put on the best game all the time. If the LA team is awful TV ratings might fall dramatically. I'm sure this won't stop a team from eventually ending up there but I never even thought of the TV angle in that way. Unfortunately the Jags lease looks quite favorable for the city. Our best hope is expansion(very very unlikely to happen), a local ownership group and RW's family's willingness to sell to them, and the Rams moving back to LA. St. Louis is a baseball town with a declining population.
  6. Well more than half of his INT's were horrible overthrows by the QB. I can think of only one or two times were he took a great path to the ball and made a pick on a well thrown ball. I will grant you though it is hard to judge last year with the absence of any pass rush. Carrington has played out of position every year. He is a natural 4-3 DE. I think he gets 5-6 sacks backing up Mario this year.
  7. Dwan Edwards was signed in the past specifically becasue he is a 3-4 DE. Either he or Spencer Johnson will not make the team - possibly neither. Merriman is an OLB. He is not a DE though he can rush the passer from a 3 point stance. The only reason he did that last year when they played a four man front is we had no one else who could rush the passer. If his ankle is ok he starts at OLB over Morrison. Kelsay and Anderson will be in a rotation at DE and Carrington backs up Mario Williams. I'm worried about Sheppard. If Morrison and Merriman both look good or if the kid from Florida State looks good at OLB, I could see Barnett moving to MLB and starting over Sheppard. I just don't think he is big enough to play MLB in a 4-3. Hope I am wrong. I think they keep 6 CB's - Williams, McGee start with Gilmore, McKelvin, Brooks, and Rogers all making the team. McKelvin and and Rogers will be the primary return men - Smith wil be cut and no longer return kickoffs. The battle for SS will be interesting. Wilson played well and probably wins the job but Searcy has size and talent. Also Scott will get some playing time too. I am also not sold on Byrd(would extend Levitre long before I extended Byrd). Not sure if he has great ball skills and I don't think he has elite speed. If Searcy has an awesome camp and Byrd is so/so I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilson move to FS.
  8. If high bust potential means that Gilmore is 50/50 and Glenn is 60/40 they are busts then that is correct. That is waht the averages are for anybody whether there name is Luck, Maybin, or Brees. So as others ahve said if Gilmore becomes a solid CB and Glenn starts anywhere on the line they will be far from busts.
  9. Too much...He never shuts up...Can't stand him...
  10. Couldn't disagree more...Losing out on Meachem may be a blessing in disguise. I think it freed up money for Anderson. A #2 WR is important but at least there are guys on the roster who can attempt to fill that role. Anderson should be a major upgrade over Kelsay and Carringotn at DE.
  11. I will add Pittsburgh. Their most glaring weakness was offensive line and they got the best guard in the draft and arguably the second best LT in the draft and didn't give anything up to get them. Is upgrading your offensive line to protect your franchise QB more or less of an improvement than finding your potential franchise QB like the Colts and Redskins did? I don't know. All I know is on paper the Bills are better than they were last year but there are still huge question marks at QB, LT, and WR. In a passing league that is scary. We should be able to defend the pass much better but only time will tell if Fitz is adequate, is the three headed monster of Hairston, Glenn, and Sanders capable of producing on legit LT, and will Easley or Jones be healthy enough to be a competent side-kick to Stevie...
  12. Glenn starts at LT. Hairston is swing back-up but if he looks good in camp he may beat out Pears even with his new contract.
  13. I suppose if you knew the team was going to call a draw play on third and 25 this would be a perfect defense. What other situation would this defense be played? There are not enough DB's to effectively cover even a 3 WR set let alone 4 or 5.
  14. No they haven't because they have at least made the playoffs in the last decade. Except we have a retread DC, a starting center who can barely walk, a DT and OLB with bum Achilles' tendons, a log jam of hope for a LT, and no credible #2 WR...all that and a suspect QB situation...very doubtful they can knock off the Patriots but with their light schedule they should be in the Wild Card discussion until at least week 13-14.
  15. That was the first thing that crossed my mind. The voters say they aren't supposed to consider stuff like this, but you can argue this wasn't bad off the field behavior. This was stuff going on during the game. If it sways just a couple voters maybe that is enough momentum for Reed. In the end though, I just don't think he will ever make it.
  16. I don't think he was smart enough to know how to calculate a completion percentage...
  17. Funny when looking at the stats. He threw for 55 more yards and one less INT (Zero to 1)than future MVP McNair. But he was also sacked six times. Probably close to his per game career averages... But as always QB's are judged by wins and losses. He led the game winning FG drive and if weren't for Throwback he would have been a hero - all be it a hero that gave up way too many sacks. Dam Bruce had 2.5 sacks in that game too...
  18. Say what you will, but he is the last QB to lead a playoff winning drive - up until the special teams blew it
  19. Yes - he was a marginal backup for 10 games and played well in 3 games down the stretch when he was the starter. I believe he will continue to progress but what if he regresses back to his old form when he isn't the starter.
  20. Sign Levitre next. Wood is going to have to prove he can stay healthy before he gets an extension. Byrd is nothing special. If I had to pick between him and Levitre it would be Levitre every time. For the longest time this team did not have the players to compete. Now they do. Now the coaches are on the hot seat. It is up to Gailey and Wannstedt to make this work. I think Gailey is up to the task as long as someone whispers into his ear run the dam ball. I am really worried about Wannstedt. I think Gailey has evolved as a coach and has shown a willingness to change(scrapping the 3-4). Wannstedt is going to have to prove his defense can succeed in today's NFL.
