  1. I hope he has evolved. I will go on record as saying I'd rather have Fewell with this talent and see what he could do.
  2. Kelsay is a quality back-up DE. He was the worst OLB in a decade. He was never a great starter but never truly horrible either. He provides leadership and depth and the occasional QB pressure. Definately would keep over Dwan Edwards and probably Spencer Johnson as well. If Carrington moves back to DE which I think he should and outplays Kelsay in camp I would not be shocked to see them keep 5 DE's(Williams, Anderson, Merriman(can also play OLB), Kelsay, and Carrington) along with 4 DT's (Williams, Dareus, Troup, and Heard).
  3. The theme of your roster is youth, change for change sake and we might try to win in 2014. Wow that is an awfully young secondary... Don't see that happening. Potter can't hit a FG over 40 yards with no wind let alone the swirls of RW. This team needs to win now and they will err on the side of experience especially in the seondary.
  4. Honestly I never saw him listed at DT before you pointed it out. You got me but I still don't see him playing DT. If he is going to compete at DT then I don't think he will make the team. And then I don't understand the DE spots. Are they counting on Merriman's ankle to be the primary back-up at both DE spots. Carrington played DE his entire college career and was drafted to be a 3-4 DE. He was an accomplished outside pass rusher from a lower tier conference not a space occupying big man in the trenches.
  5. Do you think they will slide Gilmore inside to cover Welker? Maybe. That would mean Mcgee stays healthy and plays outside. I don't think A. Williams has the speed to stay with Welker. I was thinking this is what Brooks will do. Brooks may be the fastes guy on the team along with Spiller. I think Brooks plays Nickel when teams spread them out and have smaller quick guys like Welker.
  6. Thank you for posting this. I don't know where the Carrington is a DT came from. He is going to be the third or fourth DE in a rotation with Merriman behind Anderson and Williams. I still think Merriman will get some snaps at OLB lining up outside either Williams or Anderson in passing situations. Will rush 85-90% of the time but will drop in zone coverage just enough to keep defenses guessing. Troup makes the team as I think he is the only guy with size enough to play in goal line and short yardage situations along with Dareus. If his back is right, he will be a contributor this year. Agreed
  7. Dwan Edwards is a 3-4 DE and will not make the team. Carrington will. Spencer Johnson can play DT or DE in the 4-3. I still don't think he makes it either and they keep an additional DB. Totally agree Powell will be the punter and in the edn they just won't keep two kickers. With this team's injury problems on the o-line and with Mcgee and Merriman coming off injury I can't see them wasting a roster spot on a second kicker no matter what Nix has said.
  8. I never had a problem with Direct TV service and was dismayed when I moved to a place that had no signal. I swithced to PS3 and other than the week when the signal was garbage, it worked fine. There are no other good options. You want to watch the games you've got to pay...
  9. Tom Brady 7th round pick Wes Welker undrafted
  10. If that happens Gailey and Nix will be fired, so they may as well let the trick shot QB play...
  11. Come on... They had the Giants beat in the first game and it was only a miracle catch that cost them the game. In the last Superbowl it was a drop. Brady should have 5 rings and unfortunately is in the discussion with Montana, Unitas, and Elway as best QB of all time. He is also in the discussion of best player of all time. Had the Patriots won I think he would be called the greatest player of all time.
  12. Be careful, most people around here thought Peters was ovverrated and not worth the money...
  13. Count me as one of the guys who is very worried that Wannstedt is not a good DC. Has he evolved? The offenses of today are nothing like what he coached against when he had his most successful run with the Cowboys. Perry Fewell has had great success when given talented players to work with and I would rather have him with the current personnel. I see no chance that this guy becomes a hot HC prospect again. He is a total fail at that job three times over now.
  14. Not unless RW sells before he dies...been written a thousand times that there are no stipulations on a sale to avoid estate taxes...RW can't do anything from beyond the grave
  15. Which offensive line? There were so many injuries you pretty much have to evaluate the line game by game or at a minimum pre and post Wood injury. Pre-Wood going down(insert jokes here) they were top 10 even though aided by get the ball out of Fitz's hand quick philosophy. Post Wood injury they were bottom feeders.
  16. With tie-breakers, I think they need to go 5-1 in the division and the Kansas City game is almost a must win. If they lose to KC and Cleveland even with a win over the Jets, we may as well start the Matt Barkley watch by Sept 24th.
  17. Defensive strategy and personnel grouping for the Patriots and other's hybrid offenses http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/19103779/got-a-big-nickel-youll-need-one-to-combat-hybrid-offenses-this-fall With Scott, Searcy, Byrd, and Wilson I think we have the size and speed to match up reasonably well - especially if Searcy improves his coverage skills. Hopefully with a D-line that can generate a pass rush with only four down lineman rushing, the back 7 can get more three and outs and turnovers.
  18. Moorman is gone. Lindell isn't going anywhere. Potter is not an NFL quality FG kicker by all the reports I have seen. Depsite what Chix have said I still think it will be hard for them to cut a quality DB or DL for a third kicker.
  19. LOL..You can't be serious... Kelly>>>>>>>>>>>>>Fitz Reed Lofton >>>>>>>>>>>> SJ and scraps Thurman/Davis >>>>>>>> FJ Spiller Hull >>>>>>>>>>> Wood Wolford >>>>>>>>>> Hairston, Glenn et al Bruce Smith > Super Mario(hopefully this will be a tie) Biscuit >>>>>>> Barnett/ Merriman Need I go on...
  20. Offense (21) QB...(2) Fitz & Young RB...(3) Jackson, Spiller & White Choice FB...(1) McIntrey TE...(2) Chandler & Smith OT...(3) Glenn, Pears, Hairston OG...(3) Levitre, Urbik & Rinehart C...(1) Woods WR...(6) Johnson, Easley, Jones, Graham, Smith Hagan & Nelson Defense (22) DL...(7) M. Williams, Dareus, K.Williams, Anderson, Kelsay, Troup & Carrington LB...(6) Barnett, Morrison, Shepard, Bradham, Carder, Merriman CB...(6) Gilmore, Williams, McGee, Brooks, Rogers & McKelvin SS...(3) Wilson, Scott & Searcy FS...(2) Byrd & somebody else Special Teams (4) Punter... Moorman Powell Kickers.. Lyndell and Potter Long Snapper... Sanborn Smith is not worth the money they are paying himn and that money can and should be used for Levitre and Byrd. We have lots of other guys that can catch the ball in the end-zone and bring it back from time to time. I chose Hagan due to his size but honestly I think it will be a veteran pick-up as guys start to get cut. WR corp is too young and another veteran who has played could be helpful in the locker room for those guys. I think Choice beats out White just absed on experience. Three years ago they woudl have went with youth. It is a win now mentality and I think they keep the veteran. Merriman is an OLB not a DE. I have no idea who will be the second FS but they will keep 5 including Scott. I think they keep Mcintyre - he is a demon on special teams and they do use him from time to time. Maybe if they keep White they let him play FB too and McIntyre is let go. I know they stated they wanted to keep a KO specialist but in the end I think they change their mind and keep Carrington for DE depth. And lastly I think Moorman is gone. I just think with some of Gailey's comments he doesn't trust Moorman. And while this flies in the face of my keep a veteran arguement, I think they go with a fresh leg and Powell beats him out.
  21. Are there any run dominant teams that are any good? Baltimore and San Francisco I guess but they have very good to great defenses. Even the Giants became a passing team. Packers, Saints, Patriots, Detroit, Falcons, and even the Steelers are all pass oriented teams. Even in bad weather the short passing game can work and does Buffalo even get bad weather anymore? The truly horrible weather games you can't pass or run. Spread the defense side to side, get the LB's and SS moving pre and post snap, use quick passes to protect the QB, then run in the seams that are created. The defense to this is having all the DB's and LB's just sit on the 5-10 yard pass routes. That is what defenses did to Gailey and Fitz in the second half of the season. That is where the Bills need to cross them up with a run from the spread formation or a route combination that gets someone open beyond the LB's. Bunch formations can do this with one of two or three guys(3 WR's or a combo of WR's. TE, and RB) going deep on a post or corner route with the others running crossing patterns underneath.
