  1. More two a days will toughen these guys up so there aren't as many injuries right???
  2. McKelvin will be the third CB. He may be the most physically gifted of all our DB's. McGee will be the dime CB. I could see Williams and Gilmore matching up to the taller WR's and TE's while McKelvin and McGee line up against the smaller wide-outs regardless of whether they line up inside or out.
  3. I don't buy the saving a roster spot arguement. I would only carry two QB's. Fitz and VY. No one will pick up Thigpen if we cut him and who cares if some team does. If Fitz goes down for any length of time the season is lost anyways. I would add a project QB to the PS. Smith is just not that good of a WR to keep regardless of his salary. We have others that can catch the kick off in the endzone. And I also agree I would save a roster spot by getting rid of Dwan Edwards. Use Smith's and Edwards' money to pay Levitre and Byrd.
  4. Of course all games in a 16 game schedule are important but a loss to an NFC team on the road is not nearly as bad as a loss to an AFC wildcard contender. Making the playoff will likely come down to some form of tie breaker with the like of the Jets, KC, Tenn, Cinci, and others. Best hope is for the other AFC divisions to beat each other up and for the Jets to implode early.
  5. What you talking bout Willis? I have never read his contract was guaranteed. If so that is just plain stupid. We just drafted a kick-off specialist because everyone just kicks the ball into the endzone and there are few if any returns.
  6. I don't understand why Brad Smith is destined to be the #3 QB. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82ab6ade/article/vince-young-tyler-thigpen-battle-for-bills-backup-job They hardly used the Wildcat last year and I think Vince Young could run it just as well and maybe better than Smith. Young can run and he would be a true passing threat. Smith did next to nothing last year as a returner. I would rather we keep an extra DB that can return or a younger WR than Smith. And I would rather they trade for or grab a project QB from the waiver wire. Just don't see the need to keep him and his contract. Use that money to resign Levitre and Byrd. Please someone tell me what I am missing???
  7. Run the ball at Anderson and K. Williams. Attack the middle zones and flats with multiple WR formations and athletic TE's. The LB's are just not that good. Short passes can prevent the pass rush from being a factor(see Gailey/Fitz/Bills 2011).
  8. Can you throw a stone 135 miles? Not paying for a $50 cab ride may have just cost him several million dollars. Would this be his third strike? Godell is going to hammer him. If this is not his third strike I would still bet 8 game suspension given his prior history.
  9. 1/3 of the picks haven't even put shoulder pads on so it's a little early do say whether they are successes or failures. How about looking at it this way. Only 2 of 6 players drafted in Nix's first two drafts in rounds 1-3 starts - Dareus and Sheppard(by default). That is piss poor. A. Williams and Spiller had better improve greatly this year and get significant snaps to justify their draft position. As for Carrington and Troupe they are already busts with one big incomplete grade for Easley.
  10. Do you really want to watch the Bills in late Decemeber when they have been eliminated from the the playoffs??? There is nothing else you can do on a Sunday? Volunteer at a soup kitchen. Shovel your driveway. I can think of a million other things I would rather do than watch an NFL football game with no hope of the playoffs to follow.
  11. Radio and NFL rewind would be other valid ways to enjoy the game...
  12. I would question any survey that has Polamalu at the top. His skills have eroded horribly. He played in the bottom half of all safeties last year and was on the field in a playoff loss to Tebow in which he threw for over 300 yards. He is just not very good and living on reputation at this point.
  13. Lots of Reed supporters on here over the years must be hating this...I could never stand this guy and still have yet to see his mythical run after the catch ability. He is emblematic of how horrible the FO was during his years here. There is no other team in the league that would have had him more than 5th on their depth chart. Glad he is a miserable person now. Of course and unfortunately everything he said about the city is true...
  14. As I have gotten older(now age 41), I can't stand any of the pregame or post game stuff. They are all intolerable some more than others. I have much better things to do.
  15. 1. #2 WR 2. LT Surpises 1. Spiller starts over Freddie 2. Moorman will be cut but it won't be a surprise
  16. Love the homers bashing on KC fans. How many of you are upset about the "hit" on Wood? If that was Byrd going down you would be screaming cheap shot. We have no perspective as fans. Let KC fans vent that they lost a star on their defense and we can vent that we lost the anchor of our offensive line.
  17. Go blow yourself. I'm sure you've been knocked unconscious by a safety blitz and hit from behind by a 295lb. DE. Any player that walks on that field has more guts than any of us will ever know.
  18. QB is always the most important position on the team. I'm starting to think LT is not as important as it once was even in a passing league. Effective pass rushes now are best up the middle and do not allow the QB to step up into the pocket. I would say that all OL positions are equally imporatnat and it is the unit working together that makes it great or not. That being said it is easier to find average athletes to play C and G than it is to find athletes with the foot speed and upper body strength to play T.
  19. I love that people are worried about a FB and a 3rd TE. How about the fact our first TE can't block nor stretch the field. And a lot of good is does to have a blocking FB when your center is coming off an ACL tear. In all seriousness I agree with the poster that said to just put an extra lineman in the backfield on obvious short yardage plays. Anyone remember how horrible we were on short yardage last year? Even if CM was blocking it wasn't working. This team does not need a FB. I would rather have an extra lineman, extra WR, or a third kicker.
  20. At the time it was the harshest punishment ever handed down against a team. So yes they were hit hard. Maybe not enough for you and I. And I agree Belichick shoudl have been suspended games not just fined.
  21. I think the disconnect with the league and the players lies with the intent of the program. I suspect when it started it was innocent enough - much like the office NCAA tournament bracket. And I suspect there were few if any players that willing tried to make a few extra bucks by intentionally hurting another player. I would also suspect that in most defensive meetings around the league the goal of hitting and pressuring the QB relentlessy is openly discussed. But it only takes a guy or two to take things too far and cross the line. I have no doubt Vilma offered $10,000 to any guy who knocked Favre out of the game. And I would beleive him if he said "Yes I offered that reward but only meant if he got knocked out of the game due to a legal play/hit". I would believe these guys if they just said yes we did it but it was not meant to be mean spirited. Indeed no one has shown any video evidence or statistical analysis of personal foul penalities to suggest the Saints played dirty football. Yes Favre took a beating in that game but the refs were allwoing it to happen and almost all of the hits were legal.
  22. You mean because we have a superstar QB and an experienced healthy offensive line to protect him? Or do you mean because in a passing league we have multiple weapons at WR? I'm excited too but let's not forget this team has holes and warts. Usually a superstar QB can help a team cover up some of those deficiencies. Maybe we are the 49ers of this year and a superstar defense covers up a below average QB.
  23. Levitre looks like an All-Pro if he is able to stay put at LG. Still not sold on Byrd and yes I have already been flamed for stating that before... If I had to choose between the two it would be Levite hands down. They should extend both before the season so they don't get in a bidding war. If Merriman looks good in camp I would extend him a year or two as well. Nelson is replaceable but I like him as a player at the rigth price. Moorman is gone. McElvin is gone - he either is awful this year and out of football or he plays great and finds a willing team to overpay for him. No way they keep him after drafting four DB's in the last two years.
