  1. He is a 24 y/o starting CB with three years of NFL experience with two years left on a rookie deal. Proven production on the cheap. Decent deal to me especially if the second rounder is in 2014 - the article said the year was undisclosed. I would have gladly given A. Williams up for their 2013 second and let McKelvin start in a contract year with Brooks and Rogers as back-ups.
  2. The article said he still has his speed. To think at that age and coming off knee surgery he can still compete at an NFL level. Say what you want about his head but TO was an amazing athlete and IMO a first ballot HOF WR. His stats are ridiculous. Quite unbeliavable that he still can't get his head straight. Dropped balls and attitude issues right to the bitter end... Sadly, talent wise he is probably as good as anyone not named Stevie on the Bills roster. I am not saying the Bills should sign him. But our WR's are as bad as the LB's.
  3. First WR from Conneticut ever drafted! Yes that is a reach in any round.
  4. He is wrong about JPP but dead on when it comes to drafting Troup and Easley for need. Had they not made the ill-fated decision to switch to a 3-4 (seriously Kyle Williams at NT????) Troup would have never been drafted by this team. Easley was a ridiculous reach.
  5. Based on what? One draft class hasn't taken a snap yet. The other was a no-brainer pick in Dareus, a CB that may not be any better than an injured vet or underachioeving first round bust, a MLB too small to play the postion, and an OT that couldn't win the job over Bell and is now a swing tackle. Nix has faired much better in FA and keeping their own group of good players than he has with the draft.
  6. Totally agree.. . This unit will still struggle to stop the run and that chews up clock limiting pass rush oppotunitues. I would be happy if he has 10-12 and the rest of the entire line including second string gets around 25. Throw in a few DB and LB sacks and that puts them around 40- 45 for the year. If the offense gets on top of some of these teams with bad lines or weak QB's maybe the numbers start to climb fast. I'd be happy dropping a six pack on the Jets week one even if Mario doesn't get "credit" for a sack but he is commanding double and triple teams.
  7. I am squarely on the fence here. I see no reason why VY could not run the wildcat type offense and be a wonderful passing threat out of it. He has never run the wildcat in the NFL but virtually all of his snaps in college were from the shotgun and many were designed runs. And it can't be that hard to learn four or five wildcat plays - run left, run right, fake run pass to te, fake run pass to wr, fake run pitch to rb. However I also agree with poster, MDP. Smith can play multiple positions willingly. He is expensive but it's not my money and they are nowhere near the cap even if they did resign Levitre and Byrd. He can be the sixth WR, a gunner for special teams which usually is a WR or a back-up safety which they may not have on the roster. Lastly I would take my chances that Tigpen is not signed by anyone if he is cut. Thigpen is not the answer if Fitz goes down for a game or two. I truly think VY could win a game or two with his legs a not too horrible passing game, the Bills ground game, and the defense. So if I have to choose it is let Thigpen go and keep Smith as the #3 QB and #6 WR.
  8. Agreed but from a talent standpoint it might be a fair trade...
  9. According to ESPN they need DB's and lineman. They are going with a youth movement. I will offer up the first speculative trade idea and let you all flame me... Reggie Wayne for Justin Rogers and a conditional 4th round pick that can increase to 3rd based on production. Aaron Williams straight up for Coby Fleener???
  10. The coaches can't even decide where to play these guys. As a group they are just horrible, maybe bottom 5 certainly bottom 10. No difference makers anywhere. Barnett is too old, Sheppard too small, and Moats probably can't do anything but rush the passer which is not what 4-3 OLB's are asked to do. If Sheppard flames out that will leave Dareus, A. Williams, and Spiller as the only Nix draft picks worth a dam. A no-brainer DT pick that initially was asked to play DE, a #2 CB that may be better suited for safety, and a luxury RB. Wow...
  11. He looks to be listed dead last on the CB depth chart behind McGee, Rogers, and Purple Rain. Does this surprise anyone? The guy has tons of speed and I read he looked good in OTA's. Did something happen in camp?
  12. If they had signed Vick I would have given up on the NFL, watched college FB on Saturday, and golfed or woked in my woodshop on Sunday. The Bills have been barely watchable for a decade and I sure as hell am not going to root for a dog-killer no matter how much I love the Bills.
  13. I believe with the exception of Foster, all those other RB's play with below average to at best decent QB's. Which means they are one dimmensional and if you want to stop then run it means 8 men in the box and trusting the remaining DB's not to get beat deep. Therefore the scheme and the SS may be just as important as the LB's. Isn't that what opposing defenses do against the Bills - in addition to sitting in the short zones against our spread package - daring Fitz to audible and beat them deep.
  14. Agree...I still don't understand why he is at DT unless they know Troupe is going to IR. Why did they play Moats at ILB last year? And at 6-3 246 is Eddins big enough to play DE? Super Mario is 292, while Anderson is only 255 and Kelsay 263 according to Bills official site. Eddins would be the smallest DE. Again would rather see a slimmed down Carrington at DE instead of DT.
  15. 1. Sign them both 2. Byrd is a very good tackler 3. Byrd's ball skills are overrated - many of his INT's have been horrible overthrows - but he seems to catch most of what comes his way. My definition of ball skills is diagnosing a route early, taking the correct angle to the play, and knowing when to jump a route. I've seen some of that with little to no pass rush. Looking forward to seeing what he does with a pass rush. 4. Searcy is SS 5. Levitre though just a guard is terribly more important to this team than a FS even in a passing league. He has a rookie to his left and a guy with a bum knee to his right. 6. They have the room and money to sign them both before the season opener. Sign them now and get a little bit of an early bird discount. If can only get one to sign then franchise the other.
  16. Personally I give him 1 chance in 3.... Half the pundits projected him as a RT though I am not sure the LT/RT difference is as great as it was in the past. He played both positions in college. He has the size. Won't know if he has the footwork and upper body strength/arm control needed to pass block until he faces regular season game speed and stunts.
  17. Let the line play 1/2 of the next game and then rest them all for the Jets. Better yet just forfiet the 4th game. The roster is 95% set. Let Moorman and Powell hold a punt contest, take six WR's not named Stevie and line let them draw four short straws, and lastly let Carrington and Edwars figh to the death in the parking lot at RW.
  18. So you both think if they don't make the playoffs and in three years don't post a better record than DJ or Mularkey did, spend millions of RW's estate money, they will be brought back??? Maybe NIx is allowed to stay but it is playoffs or bust for Gailey.
  19. Agree that he finally recognized these things. But they don't have 2-5 games this year to figure out who should play LT, who should be the #2 WR, the starting LB's. They need to win this season or both Gaily and Nix are gone. No way RW shells out this much cash and settles for 8-8 or even 9-7 and no playoffs.
  20. Of course all personnel decisions are not made by one person, but there are only two people ultimately responsible. Nix signs them and Gailey decides who makes the team and who plays. Yes Jackson was hurt in the pre-season but he dressed and played in the first game even though Spiller started. There was no need to play Kelsay at OLB. They decided he could play OLB. They chose to play him at OLB. They chose to run a 3-4 and decided Kelsay could play OLB instead of finding a player that could. There was no need to move Moats inside or ever think Batten could play in the NFL. And if you want to say these were all George Edwards' decisions, I will accept that. But the DC still must report to the HC and the responsibility is with him to put a competitive defense on the field.
  21. I would doubt any of the WR's we cut would get picked up by another team so I think they go with 5 WR's including Smith. This opens up two spots for the OL. I think Brown and Sanders will be added to the OL. If/when injuries occur one of the WR's that gets cut will be available. Edwards over Heard. Troup to IR. I could see them carrying only three safeties and five CB's (McGee vs Rogers will be a tough call). Wilson and Byrd start with Wilson being able to move to FS in a pinch. Searcy backs up Wilson. Scott and Aaron Williams are the emergency back-ups. This allows them to keep an extra LB - Bradham.
  22. He started Trent over Fitz(I know he looks great in practice), Spiller and Lynch over Jackson, allowed Kelsay and Johnson to play OLB, Moats was moved to ILB, played Levitre at center, kept Batten on an NFL roster, has now moved Carrington from DE to OLB to DT, and thought Merriman could play a 4-3 DE. Looks like he was right about Evans, correctly moved Wood to center, and will likely be right about Maybin. I like Gailey as a play caller but not sold on his HC responsibilites for managing the entire roster. Your thoughts...
  23. I did - see my other post Now I know you are full of BS - it doesn't snow in Buffalo anymore
  24. Miami is making a huge mistake playing Marting at RT. Any word on what MIke Adams is doing in Pittsburgh? I read he injured a knee but don't know much more. The word was he didn't compete hard enough. Doubt Tomlin would draft him if that truly was the case.
