  1. Don't other teams usually get a QB first as part of the rebuild? What good does it do to rebuild the entire team and then not have a QB to get the job done? Do you think the plan was build a championship caliber squad and then turn it over to a rookie QB in year 4???
  2. I would like ot know how many people are like myself on this board. I moved away in 1988 and still love the team. At this point whether they continue to exist or whether the city of Buffalo thrives or not means very little to me. I'm never moving back. I have kids in school who will be playing HS sports soon and then will be in college. The college game is more entertaining than the NFL even with the difference in talent level. 80% of the teams in the NFL are unwatchable. 80% of the teams in college are unwatchable but that still leaves almost 30 or 40 schools that will be on TV. There are no "local" game TV rules so we always get the best game. But most of all the apathy comes from the fact we have an owner that will be gone soon and then the team will be auctioned to the highest bidder. There is only a minimal chance the team stays in Buffalo. It is very difficult to keep up the passion for a team 2500 miles away, 12 years of no playoffs, and no future.
  3. Didn't Rhinehart play when Brown got hurt?
  4. It would be truly remarkable if Wannstedt were to be relieved of his play calling duties. It just doesn't happen that often in the NFL. So what can be done... 1. I would sit Aaron Williams and start McKelvin. Williams has been awful as a starter and McKelvin should get another shot at an outside DB spot. 2. I would move Barnett to MLB, move Sheppard to WLB, and Morrison to SLB. I would cut Moats. He has been useless. 3. I would start Searcy over Wilson at SS. Wilson has been horrible in coverage and I don't think Searcy could be any worse. I think Searcy might be better in run support. 4. I would play a single high safety, put Searcy in the box, and send him or an OLB 3 out of 5 plays. It is clear the front four is terribly overrated or just demoralized. 5. I would cut Kelsay and move Carrington to DE. 6. No more big nickel with Scott. The league has figured out how to beat this package and it is best just to scrap it. I would rather see a three safety package with Wilson, Searcy, and Byrd, three DL, 2 LB's, and 3 DB's against teams with good TE's and a traditional nickel and dime against 4 and 5 true WR sets. 7. Having cut Moats and Kelsay I would then acquire two more LB's via trade or signing off other teams practice squads. 8. I would tell Wanny he has to bring more heat or he will be gone. He has two weeks to get it fixed or he will be let go. Maybe the pressure would make him a little more aggressive. 9. I would help my defense by running the football and sustaining some drives...Fitz is hopeless at this point. He can't hit anything beyond ten yards. The only hope for the offense is Spiller and a healthy Glenn.
  5. I will be the first to admit that I really don't watch other NFL games. I prefer to watch college games and then get tormented by the Bills every Sunday. So I ask do other teams blitz? This is a serious question. I know in the 3-4, the idea is to bring pressure from multiple different angles with different combinations. And I know the Giants won two SuperBowls w/o blitzing that much. Everyone including Wanny has said we are vanilla. I thought Belichick was famous for never having any two defensive game plans being the same and with multiple ways of disguising coverages. If Alex Smith can read the defense and audible to pass plays there has to be something wrong. To me I don't care how many athletes you have on defense. With the rules favoring the offense the only way to compete is to scheme and confuse. So I say again do other teams still bring odd man rushes, DB and safety blitzes???
  6. I don't understand the idea that just because he ahs been inactive so far that he couldn't start. Lot's og guys start with way less practice time than he has gotten. Now if you said he is just as bad as Fitz then why not just cut him and take a flier on a LB from some team's practice squad. Make a trade for a LB. Better yet trade Wanny for anyting.
  7. What are the odds he starts next week? He played the Cards twice last year.
  8. They tried that with Donahoe and Williams...RW is likely not even coherent for more than an hour or two a day. It all ends when he dies and they move. The suffering will end soon.
  9. Have any of you been to any other modern NFL or MLB stadiums? If so be honest about the experience. Wider concourses, bigger bathrooms, and more food options are important. RW is old, cold, cramped, and in many places just smells bad. Not a great environment to drop a big sum of money. When you have the cheapest tickets in the league you get a cheap experience. And with that comes more fights and more bad behavior. If I was Russ I would eliminate 5-8 K seats, up the price by 25%, and demand Erie county build a state of the art facility on the water. Erie county and NY state should counter with a 25 year iron-clad lease agreement. The stadium complex should include restaurant and shopping space as well as green space along the waterfront. That is the only way the state and tax-payers should agree to fund a new stadium.
  10. If the playoffs are still an option 5 weeks from now it will be for a WC spot and Cinci will be one of the main teams to beat out...An AFC loss would help
  11. NFC East is ovverrated. The Redskins and Cowboys are just not that good. The Giants are throwing the ball a ton which may work in OCt but will it in Dec at home? Philadelphia's defense is suspect. The AFC North however is underrated. I think their is a good chance that Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati all make the playoffs. I don't see the Bills, Jets, Titans, Dolphins, or Chiefs finishing better than any of those three teams. The only question is will th enon-AFC West divison winner, Denver or San Diego, be able to finish above one of those three teams. May come down to the last week.
  12. These are the 5 best questions that can be asked? How about these... Any thought of switching back to the base 4-3 when they were gashing you for over 200 yards rushing? Why no safety or DB blitzes? What is you honest assessment of Sheppard at MLB?
  13. KW deserved a penalty. It was a clear interpretation of the rule. He should not have gotten a fine as their was nothing malicious about the play. Spikes should have gotten a flag but these type of hits are missed all the time. I would guess a good 20% of the fines levied are on non-calls.
  14. The last paragraph says it all with respect to this week. Alex Smith is not Tom Brady. They can dare Smith to beat us and gang up on Gore and double Davis. They can win Sunday.
  15. OMG you can't be serious??? Harabugh plays six games against the likes of Arizona, Seattle and St. Louis. He inherited a top 5 defense. Chan has had to turn over a significant chunk of a roster put together by Marv Levy. And maybe just maybe he and his wife would rather live in Northern California and not Western NY. I will say that Chan deserves all the criticism in the world for switching ot a 3-4 when we didn't have the personnel to play it and for not picking a competent DC.
  16. Now that is horse-****. There was no intent to injure. It was a penalty but not one that should draw a fine. Fack this league and their love for New England. Where is the fine for the guy that tried to take off Chndler's head. Total BS. Next time KW should just put his elbow out like Wilfork did if he is going to have to pay a fine anyways... Yeah but with inflation how much was it worth...lol
  17. 4 guys and a safety converted to LB can't stop 5 OL and the best blocking TE in the league. We are bringing the proverbial knife to a gun fight with our "big nickel". What did Belichick do to stop the K-gun? He left his LB's on the field to pound Andre and make tackles. It's been what twenty years and the Bills are still losing to the same guy in the same manner. Thoroughly outcoached only in reverse. Wanny get your head out of your arss and send a safety or LB at the QB from outside Mario's shoulder. How about a delyaed blitz over the guard when he vacates to double Mario with the tackle? I like the DL stunts he has been running to get the C and G moving and maybe that frees Mario up the middle but KW and Dareus are better bull rushers. Don't tlet the QB step up with those two studs and bring overload blitzes. Works in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and San Fran.
  18. Totally agree and I said they would win right after the NE debacle. The difference is as simple as Brady is way better than Smith. Davis = Gronk. Welker is better than any WR on San Fran. RB's are interchangable. Without the non-sense of playing a nickel or dime defense all the time our D can stop Gore. Our D has shown they can stop the Wildcat. Just need to watch out for a pass from Koepernick this week from the wildcat. Look for it to be a designed pass to Moss with Davis or a FB trailing underneath. On offense, I think the line will be ok. Rhinehart and Hairston have played some already. CJ will not play as tentative as he did against the Pats. Wow he looked bad out there. Gailey should have sat him down after the first qtr and gone with FJ/Choice rotation. He will bounce back but don't look for him to run it up the gut. I see him lining up as a WR and cathcing screens more this week. I wouldn't be surprised if Choice gets more than 5 carries to keep the defense honest. Will Chandler dominate Whitner? It would seem to be a good match-up for the Bills but I think San Fran will bracket him with a LB and safety. They know he is Fitz's security blanket and doubling him will force Fitz to hold the ball a sec or two longer. Who knows what we get from Graham. Would love to see a deep ball but doubt it will happen on that horrible grass field they have. Bills win 16-10
  19. 2-14 would get the first pick in the draft next year
  20. Wrong assessment. Fitz was hit in the thigh not at the knee or below. It looked ugly but was not illegal. What KW did was a clear interpretation of the Brady rule. You can't hit the QB in the knee or below while in the pocket. The hit on Fitz's scramble was also legal. That is what happens when the QB dives head first. If he slides then he is protected but the ball is placed where he slides. Fitz dove to get extra yardage. Clean play. Please direct your disappointment at the DC where it shoudl be. Refs called a fairly clean game.
  21. I did. He is and has always been over-rated. He has done nothing but be mediocre. He must be capable to at least get rehired. The worst part of it is that his record as a HC is probably better than Gailey's, Jauron's, Mularkey's, and Williams. He seems so unimaginative. They don't have the athletes to just line up and beat other teams. Does any team have the athletes to play this bland of a defense? I'm sure there is more that we don't see but Chan said they played eight in the box a times. But counting Justin Rogers as one of the eight is a joke. Eight in the box is 4 DL, 3 LB's, and a SS not 4 DL, 1 LB, 1 Nickel LB, and two DB's.
