  1. ILB with multiple arrests. He will be around in the seocnd round.
  2. Levitre is gone. I wouldn't be upset if they spent that money on Jennings or Bowe and drafted Warmack. They could do worse than getting the best interior lineman in the draft and a top tier WR in FA. This would leave room to sign Byrd to a long term contract over the summer after using the tag in a couple weeks. There is no QB worthy of the #8 pick and Nix/Marrone know it. They will still have room for a middle tier LB and maybe enough to bring back McKelvin. A first round WR will not contribute much. Warmack will start right away as will a FA WR.
  3. You have to draft them first...Last year Nix wasted a senth round pick to move up and get a WR nobody wanted and they wasted another pick on a LB that couldn't make last years team! Add in Asper a guard they tried to stash on the PS. There are multiple examples of wasted picks by this organization moving up to get guys they didn't need. Those wasted picks have a very small chance of being the next Brady or Romo or Warner. Yes it is a small chance they turn out into something but is that worse than taking a LT from China? Levi Brown didn't work out - it doesn't mean you stop trying.
  4. You are insane if you think the Browns will take Barkely? He is a second rounder at best. Three QB's in the top 7? There might not be three QB's taken by the 7th pick of round two. There is no guarantee Smith goes number 1. Joekel is the more likely pick for the Chiefs. And as for the Bills, your selection has some merit and I would not be surprised. However I think it will be Ogletree or Patterson depending on how FA pans out.
  5. I like the move. Levitre is as good as gone. The Bills won't pay him top money but someone else will. He has a chance to play for a winner.
  6. I will go on record that Levitre is not worth top 5 guard money even though some team will pay him that. I would not mortgage the future of this team for a guard. I would rather see Byrd resigned and Levitre's money spent on a star WR and a LB. Hell I would sign Flacco and force the Ravens to match some poison pill type contract. I would give up two first rounders for him. Don't waste money on a guard. Nix blew it not signing him to a reasonable deal last year. Now don't double down on the mistake and overpay for a guard. Hell Pears could probably slide in to the right guard spot and Urbik move to left.
  7. I don't agree completely. I don't think GM's and scouts read or care one bit what draft gurus think or what media hype a player has. They would be fools to base their evaluations on that stuff. I just think that the process is a little bit less than a crap shoot. There are still more first rounders that make it than fourth rounders. But as he pointed out there are lots of first round busts. To me it is all a probability equation and at least until the new CBA took effect a money issue. If you trade down and get extra picks you get more chances to find a good player and pay less for them - significantly less with the prior CBA. This keeps your roster young and hungry.
  8. If you could wonder twins meld TJ and Fitz they would make a decent QB. TJ throws a good long ball. I live in NW and saw him play several games. Fitz has no accuracy on the long ball and that is not teachable. While I woul dnot be shocked if TJ won a striaght up competition I would be surprised. I still say LB and best available player in first and second round. If it is a QB so be it but I would rather get one of the Tyler's in the third round. They can get a WR, TE, or another LB in the second.
  9. What this means... 1. Thigpen is gone 2. Fitz is your starter as I have been saying all along - he will easily beat out T Jackson 3. They believe this years QB draft class is awful. I now think they will wait until the third round to grab a guy that has fallen. They have seen the tape and no QB has a first ronud grade and the glut of guys available will push several into the second round. Yes someone wil take Smith in the first round as a reach/need pick. I hope it is not us. Just because he goes in the first doesn't mean it is a good pick. 4. I suspect this means they will not sign another QB in FA. They will draft someone but I don't see Alex Smith, Drew Stanton, or anyone else showing up at OBD now.
  10. Fitz may take a pay cut but either way he will be the starter next year. Kelsay will be cut or have to agree to a massive pay-cut/incentive laden contract. Brad Smith gone. McGee gone. Unfortunately Levitre will sign elsewhere. Byrd is franchised. I would lock up Wood to a long term deal now that will lower his cap number for this year. Then go get a WR, three LB's and a guard in FA. Spend big on the WR and get middle tier guys at the other positions. Draft QB, LB, TE, G/C, WR, and DB.
  11. Barnett couldn't run with anyone last year and played horribly whether he was taking on blocks or trying to make tackles. Moats must be god awful that he got beat out by a rookie and couldn't get some of the snaps from this old broken down LB.
  12. Totally agree. Brady won with the same players Bledsoe had. Bledsoe had more straight line speed than Brady even given the age difference. But Brady slides in the pocket maybe as good as anyone ever has. Aikman is probably the best example of the last statue QB to win it all. His O-line was great, our D-line was not, and they could run play action any time they wanted.
  13. I really don't care about ability to run. Movement in the pocket and pocket awareness are much more important. That is what makes Brees and Rothlesberger so dangerous. Again I will take a pocket passer. I am sure they had this arguement when Tarkenton was playing. Even Steve Young was a pocket passer when he won. Mobility can't hurt unless running gets the QB hurt.
  14. Flacco, Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Manning, Manning, Roethlisberger, Brady, Brady..... I think pocket passer is th epath to a SuperBowl win....
  15. Wouldn't a holding penalty have been enforced on the free kick thus moving them back 10 yards? Then if Ginn fair catches a short kick they can get a free kick for a FG to tie?
  16. No they will give up a low draft pick and sign him for less than what Welker would have cost them
  17. Exactly. They will let welker go back to being the nobody he should have been for the last decade and get Harvin for less than they gave up for Randy Moss.
  18. Kyle was awful this year and it is a joke he made the ProBowl this year. Worse yet he played in it while there were reports his other ankle/foot needed surgery. Mario deserved some criticism but not the flack he took. The whole DL was bad and I am willing to bet that was on Wanny. I think these guys will create havoc with creative blitzing schemes using the safeties and LB's - because you know they are allowed to cross the line of scrimmage.
  19. Who says he is a decent blocker? Only 43 receptions on 73 targets. At least 8 of those were drops. That is a high percentage. He also fumbled twice - one lost. He is below average but not awful. I would cut/injury settlement him and sign Dustin Keller away form the Jets if possible. If his salary is low and he is making good progress with the knee then maybe he comes in and competes again for a starting job. BTW if Lee Smith is on this team even in OTA's Marrone has some splaining to do...that guy looks like someone decided to hold a pro-am during an NFL game
  20. The fall in production for old running backs is fast and furious. My bet he will be out of the league in 2014. I hope he gets about 500 rushing and 300 recieving yards in a back-up role next year. But I fear it will be closer to 300 rushing, 9-10 games played and end the year on IR assuming he makes it out of pre-season unhurt. They won't draft a RB but they will sign one or two UDFA's to compete with choice and hope they get lucky.
  21. I would take one of the Tyler's in the second round over Barkley - probably Bray over Wilson. They both competed against SEC defenses with lesser talent around them than Barkley had.
  22. I have no idea who this guy is but he is dead on about this QB class. There is not a franchise QB out there and Smith goes to KC only out of desperation to get a QB. The Bills can get a QB in round two and a potentially good one. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/mock-drafts/daniel-jeremiah/165100 However Dion Jordan would be an absolutely horrible pick. He is a tweener DE/OLB. I live in Oregon and have watched him for a while. He reminds me of Maybin. He is tall and skinny. Works ok in Pac-12 but he is too light to play DE and too slow to play OLB. He may be able to rush the passer but that is what they said about Maybin. He is not Orakpo. Hope they pass on QB in the first round and take a better LB at #8.
  23. Is this really a new trend? Antonio Gates, Shannon Sharpe, Tony Gonzalez are HOF TE's and have been doing it in the past and currently for more than a decade. Gronk did not reinvent the TE position. He is just a better blocker than most of the recieving threats have been in the past. Remember when the Bills almost got Tony Gonzalez? How different the Trent Edwards DJ era might have been with Gonzalez and Lee Evans teamed together?
