  1. Carrington may be the most important especially if they switch back to a 3-4. He is the only player on the roster that can play DE opposite Dareus. I still don't believe KW can be a NT in a 3-4. I am not sold on Mario at OLB in a 3-4 either. Carrington and Troupe hopefully make a great deal of impact at DT in a 4-3. I would rather stay in the 4-3 and add a couple LB's than try to play Darues at DE and KW at NT.
  2. Jordan at OLB? Never played there in college not to say that it can't be done. Never dropped in coverage. Rushed from a three point stance. I agree he projects only as a 3-4 OLB. He will be boom or bust. Don't see Cleveland taking another QB. Can't see us passing on Patterson or Jones. Secretly hoping Milner slips to 8 and we trade back with a team that wants him. That likely only happens if Smith is taken in the top 7 along with Patterson or another OL/DT.
  3. Always trade down even if that means the pick you get is for next year...
  4. Someone while make Levitre the highest paid guard in the league. Their is no fair deal in FA. A decent number of teams have cap space even in a flat cap era. He could opt to play for a winning frachise at a discount. Nix should have signed him last year. The Bills did not use cash to the cap last year like they promised. They will lose Levitre. They will have holes at WR #1, 4, and 5, QB, LG, OLB, OLB, MLB, DE, TE # 1 and 2, possibly RT, back-up C, bacup up SS, and CB#3-5 going into FA if they tag Byrd. That is 1/3rd of the team. If they go the traditional route of sign two or three guys in FA and the draft, this team is 3 years away from the playoffs. I think the best way forward is to replicate what New England did and sign 8-10 middle tier FA's and completely overhaul this roster. See if they get lucky with a Vrabel type player. Then draft 3 QB's in the next two years.
  5. Fair enough. The draft is a crap shoot but I live in Portland and have seen this kid play. He is not that good against the run facing PAC-12 defenses. If you told me they are swithing to a 3-4 with Mario at OLB I would not be too upset with Jordan at the other OLB spot. This of course with him never playing OLB. If they switch to a 3-4 that relegates Mark Anderson to 3rd down or 4 man front DE - which is ok as that is where he did well with the Patriots. Not sure who the other DE is in a 3-4. KW is not fast enough to play DE and not big enough to play NT - been there done that. If they remain primarily a 4-3, DE is not a need.
  6. I've posted this before. Jordan is Maybin 2.0. I just don't see him playing DE in the NFL. He couldn't hold the edge against the run at Oregon. Stanford's OL routinely blew him off the ball in Oregon's loss at home. Could he translate into a 3-4 OLB like Ware? I don't know. 6-7 OLB? I just don't know. But if I was this kid 6 years ago I would have become a TE. 6-7 with 4.6 speed. That is crazy. Incredible athlete. Just don't know if he has a position. These tweeners are usually homeruns or busts. Charles Haley is a HOF tweener. Maybin is out of football.
  7. I am starting to feel bad for the kid. He probably doesn't even start if he signs with a SEC or PAC12 school. Now he is this overhyped out of control circus. At best he will be a servicable 3-4 MLB. He is too small to play a 4-3 MLB. He is too slow to play OLB. I hope he is smart enough to avoid NYC because he may not even get drafted until day 3 of the draft. 4.8 is not average. It is slow. It is bottom 20% this year. It is not fast enough to play in the NFL speed. It is maybe a special teams guy speed. It is embarrassing. It is kind of sad too....
  8. I think it will come down to Warmack or Patterson at 8 if they do not trade down. Others have advocated for a LT with Glenn moving to RT. I would be ok with that only if they resign Levitre - which I doubt will happen. Outside of Jones who has a medical issue - spinal stenosis - there is no LB worth #8. There is no QB including Smith worthy of #8.
  9. How do you get Tavon Austin? He won't last to pick 41. Hell he could be picked before Smith if he fits a need for a team like the Steelers and Smith proves to be dumb like Losman.
  10. If he is there at 8 and there are willing partners then trade down. Smith is a bottom of the first round talent. Too many holes at WR, LB, and possibly G - pending FA decisions obviously. If Levitre and Byrd are resigned, we add a WR and a LB in FA I would have no problem taking Smith at 8. If any of the above does not happen I would take Warmack over Smith, possibly Patterson over Smith, or trade back and get a WR and LB.
  11. If Levitre walks, Warmack would fill a need and have a good chance to be BPA as well assuming he isn't off the board already. At 8, Warmack, Patterson, and a couple of the LB/DE guys will be available. No need for OT at #8. While your concept is reasonable you must realize this team needs at least two and maybe three new LB's to start - not just for depth and play ST's. They now have two WR's on the roster that can play WR. And that doesn't even address G, QB, and SS. Unless they sign 5 FA's they will take the best WR or LB/DE available at the time. I don't see them reaching for a QB at 8. It won't be a reach to pass on a LT and take Warmack, Patterson, or a LB (except Teo of course who will be a NFL bust).
  12. Im ok with Tyler ... in round two. If they do not get a WR in FA and if they lose Levite then it will be a tough choice - Patterson or Warmack at #8.
  13. I don't understand this idea of giving the GM one last draft? Houston did the same thing with Casserly. Now of course it is always a group decision but if NIx is gone after the draft why keep him around. It is not like Whaley is new to the organization. He knows the players. What is the point of letting NIx pick players once more time and then turning those players over to Whaley/Marrone? Anyways who cares. We all knew this was coming and Brandon looks like a fool when he keeps saying no stone will go unturned to improve the team.
  14. He would be the best WR on our team. He has much more speed than Stevie and he may be almost as good of a route runner. He is a 15-25th pick guy so it is unlikley he is on the Bills after the draft. Would love for him to be around at #41 but don't see it happnening unless there is some ridiculous run on overrated QB's in the first round like we saw in 2011.
  15. Hmmm...who would play LB? There are only two on the roster now..
  16. Wow high priase.... I like the moves on defense so far. Now it is Nix's job to resign Levitre, Byrd and get some new LB's. This year will not lay to rest the QB issue unless Marrone makes Fitz a true game manager like Flacco was for his first three years in the league.
  17. Surpised but he is slow and coming off ACL. Too slow and light ot play TE, not fast neough for WR. I would have tendered a low round offer so if he signed elsewhere they could get compensation but he won't be missed.
  18. Great move by Nix. I would not give up on McKelvin. You can not teach speed and hip turn. He has that ability. I don't think he will ever learn to locate the ball in space but if our defense puts just a little pressure on QB's McKelvin will excel. A. Williams is destined to be a safety. Bring back McKelvin and we have one less hole to fill.
  19. Did you take high school algebra? The success or failure of these QB's are independent events. Therefore Barkely's probability of success or failure has nothing to do with the prior QB's. If you toss a coin 9 times and get heads all nine times, the probability of getting a head on the tenth toss is still 50/50.
  20. Agreed...I don't understand what the issue is...From the quote that was given Whaley didn't say he would reach or settle for a QB at #8. There is no Luck or Elway or even Beldsoe in this draft. Everyone knows it. They will draft BPA at #8 if they lose Levitre. If they retain Levitre and Byrd then it will be best available LB or WR.
  21. Too expensive and we have too many holes at LB going into FA. I would rather resign McKelvin to a mid-level contract if possible. Having DRC on the market is one more player for McKelvin to compete against for a contract. That is good for us. I am hopeful Brooks continues to develop. I am mostly convinced A. Williams is a bust at CB but who truly knows with Wanny's bland schemes. I am actually very upbeat to see what our secondary does with a more aggressive front seven.
  22. Greg Jennings, Mike Wallace, or Dwayne Bowe. I think Jennings is the most complete WR, Bowe is the biggest target, and Wallace has the best speed. I would prefer Jennings and would pay high top WR money. Next I would take Bowe. I think Graham could develop into a Wallace like stretch the field guy. I would rather have a big frame target like Bowe to go with Stevie if they can't get Jennings. What are your thoughts? Other options at WR that are less expensive?
  23. You wouldn't take Patrick Willis?Though for this situation I agree - we need an OLB that can rush the passer.
